The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Threats to Malphite with this build
|Ezreal||Your passive should block almost all early game damage. Make him use his E, and he will be dead with your combo.|
|Veigar||Easy lane since Veigar is late game with his damage. You have the ability to take him out of the game for good.|
Welcome to my first build since the middle of Season 5! My name is Lucas, and my desire to create builds and share them with the community. I am excited to bring you unique builds that have proven to me to be extremely effective and powerful. I have been playing League of Legends well over one year now, starting in the Preseason of Season 5. I did not play Ranked much this season, as I wanted to build up my champion pool and work on my mechanics and skill overall in the game. With Season 6 now officially underway, I will be playing Ranked a lot more, and will use my builds, obviously, and occasionally post some of my scores using the build.
Flash - Almost a necessity for more champions. Especially for Malphite, flash provides a way to have a surprise engage with your ultimate ability.
Ignite - Ignite is extremely important when you use your combo once you hit six, especially for the first time. The extra damage provided can mean a kill or walking away empty handed.
Teleport - Even though i do not have it listed, Teleport is still a very viable option for Malphite. Your ult is great for roaming, and using a TP to surprise enemies would be a great way to pick up some kills. It also allows you to have a greater lane presence and the ability to miss less farm.
1. Maxing Seismic Shard (Q) - Q is your main form of damage on Malphite (besides your ultimate). Your Q is essential to max first due to the poke it allows you to get on targets. Once you poke your target low enough, your damage from your main combo (see below) should be enough to finish them off.
2. Maxing Ground Slam (E) - Your E is a great Area of Effect move for farming during the laning phase. It is also good when you decide to all-in your enemy opponent. Ground Slam also provides good damage against multiple targets after using your ultimate move on a group of enemy champions.
3. Maxing Unstoppable Force (R) - Your ultimate is the key in making AP Malphite as powerful as it is. As the title of the move implies, this move will make you an unstoppable force against your enemy. Use it to pick off the enemy team carry or ADC, or get a two or more knockup on the enemy to give your team extra help during a fight.
4. Maxing Brutal Strikes (W) - Your W is not as important as your other moves, however, it is still needed in order to make Malphite strong. Using W will help you farm, because farming with Malphite, let alone AP Malphite, will be extremely hard. This small AoE move can provide decent wave clear and allow for better farm.
This is my typical Mastery Tree for Ap Malphite. If you have any questions about any of the choices I made in this tree, feel free to ask!

Pretty standard Rune Page for an AP Midlaner.

Note: I HIGHLY recommend you swap out the 9x Scaling Health Runes with 9x Armor Runes. I personally like the extra health, and the AP doess enough damage that I feel the extra Armor is not needed. However, the extra Armor could help you in your first couple games.
