Introduction

Hello and welcome to my ARAM Zyra guide! My name is Natsu Kagami and I'm a summoner from Garena servers. Though my rankings aren't so high but I'm very deeply interested in the ARAM/Howling Abyss map. Hope you enjoy my guide!

Pros / Cons

Pros

  • Very long ranged caster
  • Incredibly crazy poke, hard AoE CC with Stranglethorns
  • Plants deal tons of damage if not being focused
  • She's sexy :D

Cons

  • Very damn squishy and mana hungry early game
  • Requires time to master plants positioning
  • Cast time problems
  • No escape mechanism exept for a point-blank Grasping Roots

I bet you might think this looks like a masteries page for an Agressive AP Support. Well, I play mainly supports, especially Zyra so... what?9 points in Offense tree for 4% CDR, a little AP and the honorable Arcane Knowledge
Why 21 points in Utility Tree?
  • It counters your mana hunger.
  • Gives you extreme mobility, so that you can move>spam>move easily, and die when needed :D
  • GP10 and increased EXP gain from Greed and Awareness makes you an ARAM boss. More details below.

Okay. Viable I say. but I don't recommend. Why? You are a skill spammer. Burst damage added from Havoc and Archmage and Executioner isn't that neccessary. Plus, you'll lack mana and CDR. Not so cool for a spammer hey... Not so cool.

Why no points in Offense tree?

Greater Quintessence of Health

Greater Mark of Magic Penetration, Greater Seal of Mana Regeneration, Greater Glyph of Ability Power are all standard Far Ranged AP Caster runes. No need no discuss about these.

Why not Greater Glyph of Magic Resist?


Simply because somehow I chose Greater Quintessence of Health, which gives no AP.

Okay then... Why not Greater Quintessence of Ability Power and Greater Glyph of Magic Resist instead?


This once confused me. But since penetration are pretty much more crazy in S3 Health is now the dominant stat. 78 flat health is WTF awesome, comparing to 12 magic resist which gets penetrated easily.
Also, Greater Quintessence of Health replaces 9 Defense tree points from Masteries, which gives you 4% CDR, a little AP and 8% magic pen. Isn't that a fair trade? No. It's completely yours.

Heal: this thing is just too awesome. And because your team is soloing mid, this Heal thing has become brilliant choice.

Ignite: Okay so what happens if you wanna focus on a carry foe, and the whole enemy team has Heal? Ignite his a**. He'll be crying as a Heal failed baby. But be careful, don't take too many Ignites because your team will lack others such as Barrier or Flash or Clarity

Flash: Simply never find yourself out of position anymore.

Abilities

This is my most common skill sequence on ARAM Zyra. Maxing Deadly Bloom simplyy opens up your damage atvery high range. Maxing Rampant Growth second will maximize your CDR, also your seed reproducting speed. Grasping Roots can be left behind since people will try to dodge it (it's pretty easily to dodge with average bullet speed). And always level up Stranglethorns at 6, 11 and 16. It's too important to forget :D

This is an alternate to the upper sequence, if you're feeling not so well with your team's CC. It also increases burst damage, but I don't like it XD My goal is to achieve maximum poke damage.

This will burn the enemies' a**es. Plus it synergies with your Grasping Roots and Vine Lashers. Bonus!

Tons of AP. Why not?

Ice + Fire. Yay! Double burn damage. (this is such f*** logic)

Unlimited mana. Plus a Seraph's Embrace's shield.

Lead your team to victory.

Abyss Gameplay

Game Start


Okay so your game begins with everyone on the Spawn Point. Buy your items quickly (you should write yourself a custom item set before, and *tip: do you know you can right-click on the item on the shop to buy it instead of double-clicking?*), head quickly to the mid brush (photos uploading later) and plant down a Rampant Growth seed + wait for enemies to reach then Deadly Bloom then RUN! and let the plant do the rest. If your plant gets immediately killed don't worry. Head back to your allies' position and prepare for a real combat coming, saying they've wasted 1~2 skills on your plant.


The rest of the game


Spam Deadly Bloom and Rampant Growth. Keep the enemies hardly poked.
Seek for chances to Stranglethorns but don't worry as its cooldown wouldn't be so long. But keep in mind that you should have at least 2 plants inside Stranglethorns to make them WTF rage...!
