Chapter 1

This is my first guide ever on MOBAfire. However, after doing a lot of research and getting some help from my friends who are gold ranked players in League of Legends, I've complied what they thought would be the best things for Varus when in bot lane.

Items

    Doran's Blade
    Boots of Speed
    Beserker's Greaves
    B.F. Sword
    Pickaxe
    Infinity Edge
    Brawler's Gloves
    Dagger
    Zeal
    Cloak of Agility
    Phantom Dancer
    B.F. Sword
    Vampiric Scepter
    Bloodthirster
    Pickaxe
    Long Sword
    Last Whisper
    Giant's Belt
    Frozen Mallet
Ok, I know this is a long list, but just let me explain this. Always, always, always, start out with Doran's Blade. After that, go with the Boots of Speed. After a few more minion kills, you should be able to get Berserker's Greaves. Now we start the fun items. Build up enough gold for a B.F. Sword, allowing you not only to kill minions faster, but also paving the way for one of the biggest items (and probably the most important item) that Varus can carry. Continue saving gold for a pickaxe. After the pickaxe, again save up gold for your the long awaited Infinity Edge. Minions should be dropping in one or two hits now. As you start building for the Phantom Dancer, it's your choice when to sell Doran's Blade. Personally, I sell it right after I get Zeal. Once the Phantom Dancer is equipped, we again save for another B.F. Sword. You Attack Damage should now be between 180 and 220, giving you a huge advantage over anyone you go toe-to-toe with. After the B.F. Sword and after buying the Vampiric Scepter, build for a Bloodthirster. This will give you the extra Attack Damage and Life Steal you need to basically counter anyone who you could possibly take on (if they aren't running away, screaming by now). After the long awaited Bloodthirster, we go for a Last Whisper for more AD and some Armor Penetration. Save for the Pickaxe and Long Sword to get the Last Whisper that you have earned. Now we just secure ourselves with a Giant's Belt for some much needed health, and when we have the gold, go for a Frozen Mallet to slow down those pesky champs that can still withstand a deadly barrage of arrows flying their way.

*One last note, take any and all shortcuts around this build as you can. Stay true to the build, but if you get a lot of gold before having to return to base, buy the items that you can for this build without staying strictly to the order I put them in.

Runes

I decided to go with this rune set as it will really buff up Varus' "Q". That way when the time comes for a quick snipe, you are almost sure to get a kill. The extra armor just helps you not die as fast (cause who would put defensive items on an AD Carry character?). The attack speed boosts your auto-attack passive where your attack speed increases slightly for kills/assists on minions or champions.

Masteries

I went with a 24-6-0 mastery scheme. This ultimately gives you the greatest chance at surviving and pushing bot lane. It also helps with the items you are going to be building as Varus is one of the best AD Carry champions in the game.

Skill Sequence

Always start with Varus' "Q". From there, I go with his "E" and then at Level 3, I go with his "W". After Level 3, I go with another point in his "Q" and "E" respectively, bringing me to Level 5. Once you hit Level 6, get Varus' "R" (Ulti). From Level 6 on, I usually level up Varus' "Q" first, then his "E", then after all other skills hae been maxed out, I max out his "W". But don't forget to level up Varus' Ulti at levels 11 and 16 while maxing out his otehr skills.

Summoner Spells

Definitely have to go with Heal and Flash. These two spell will make or break Varus and will really help in those turret dives and sustainability in lane. I might also suggest replacing Heal with Ignite as then you could put some DoT on your enemy. No other spells would really work for this build for Varus.

Farming

As explained in the tutorial on League of Legends, always last hit minions. With the items you build for this Varus, last hitting will get easier and easier, but you have to time it just right for maximum effect. Although you could just continuously push after you get both the Infinity Edge and Phantom Dancers, try to last hit minions as it will still give you the most amount of gold for the least amount of effort.
