Introduction

So I've tried to put together a Taric build that could both be aura support as well as a functional main tank in team fights, while maintaining max CDR. This is my first build guide so please leave constructive feedback!

Guide Top

Runes

I chose to use Ability power marks and quints to give Tarics heals a bit more of a punch early game. The 8 focus and 1 celerity runes will get you to max CDR with your soulshroud/frozen heart/Mastries. I chose celerity runes to help boster tarics mana regen.

Masteries

I chose to dabble in some of the more important aspects of all three trees. Offense tree for the Max CDR and 15% magic pen. Tarics magic resist is a bit low, (and as a main tank, your defense tree cant be completely empty), so i put 5 into that tree. And utility mainly for the speed boost since taric is such a slow character. This also gives clarity a bit more utility while laning with another mana utilizer.

Items

So the name of the game is to go as tanky as possible all the while supporting your carries. Items that do those that I've chosen, boosting both defenses to above 200, as well as having an impressive 4-6 auras active in team fights (shatter and Radiance).

Guide Top

Skill Sequence

Its always good to start off with a stun to aid in getting first blood (or the assist). then you should stagger getting imbue/Shatter until you get Radiance. Maxing out imbue early makes it hard to continuously heal your teammates due to Tarics short lived mana pool. I max shatter after 3 points into imbue, then finish imbue off, then lower the CD/dmg on dazzle for longer teamfights and chasing. Since dazzle hits for 1-2 seconds stun regardless of its level, I recommend maxing it last.

Guide Top

Summoner Spells

I chose Clarity and Ghost. Clarity because taric is a support character, first and foremost, and his and his partners laning stamina is directly related to his mana pool. Having a nice full mana pool is very helpful. Having some sort of escape is always recommended to prevent getting ganked or to chase and dazzle a running enemy.

Guide Top

Team Work

Use dazzle to initiate a gank, great laning partners are essentially any dps with a stun of thier own. I've had much success laning with champions such as pantheon Renekton. Make sure you coordinate with your jungler.

Guide Top

Farming

Taric is quite a terrible farmer earlier in the laning phase. try to last hit minons, and use shatter to clean up larger groups of injured minons.

Guide Top

Summary

So in summary, Taric can provide quite an offensive and defensive bonus to his allies while concurrently remaining quite tanky. Try the build out and comment on it!
