Introduction
Hi, I'm Shy and I play top lane for Azubu Frost. I'd like to show you how I play Singed, a very tanky champion by nature who causes trouble to just about any team when farmed. While being tanky he also does a decent amount of damage that you don't realize until it's too late. If he manages to fling you in battle, you're instantly out of position and have much to worry about. I hope you enjoy my guide on how I play him. If you have any questions or feedback please leave a comment! |
Standard, Also Used Against AP Champions
|
9x 9x 9x 3x |
... |
Greater Mark of Magic Penetration Greater Seal of Armor Greater Glyph of Magic Resist Greater Quintessence of Ability Power |
This is my standard rune setup for Singed. This is especially great for when you are against a powerful AP dealer in your lane. The flat Magic Resist helps you against their spells, and the flat Armor helps you against your enemy's auto attacks or minion aggro. Keep in mind, when you're facing an AP champion in your lane, who is usually a ranged champion, they will come at you with both their auto attacks and spells so you need to defend against that. This is especially true early game.
Not Against AP Champion
|
9x 9x 9x 3x |
... |
Greater Mark of Magic Penetration Greater Seal of Armor Greater Glyph of Scaling Ability Power Greater Quintessence of Ability Power |
If you're top lane opponent is not an AP champion you can use this rune setup. This just takes out Magic Resist for scaling Ability Power. I go this route if I don't need Magic Resist.
Against Malphite or Similar
|
9x 9x 9x 3x |
... |
Greater Mark of Magic Penetration Greater Seal of Armor Greater Glyph of Magic Resist Greater Quintessence of Health Regeneration |
I take this rune setup when I'm against champions like Malphite. The reason being that Malphite is a champion who does damage with his mana, and once his mana is tapped out he becomes vulnerable. Health Regeneration quints will help you maintain your health and stay in lane longer.
This is my mastery setup for Singed. He is a champion that deals most of his damage over time, so the longer he stays alive the more he can do. With that, I go the traditional tank route and invest most of the points in the Defense tree. Since Singed has a weak early game phase, the Defense tree is also very helpful.
If your opponent is an AP champion, you can take out 3 points from Hardiness and put that in Resistance instead.
These two are the best summoner spells for a champion like Singed, and are also the standard for him. Ghost and his Insanity Potion make incredibly difficult to kill. He can escape just about anything. This combo is also very effective when used offensively. If you have your team with you this combo plus Fling is almost a guarantee kill. Also, if you plan to farm between turrets Ghost is the best choice.
Ignite is great on Singed because he is a champion who does all of his damage over time. Add on ignite to that equation and Singed is more dangerous.
These are also okay summoner spells that are really depending on what strategy you or your team want to have in the game as well as what situations you might find yourself in. Teleport is very good for split pushing and making sure team fights or battles over control of objectives turn quickly in your favor. Flash is also good if you want to take enemies by surprise for a good initiation or getting someone out of position and also adds to your already insane escaping abilitiy.
I personally choose Poison Trail and Fling in that order, while eventually finishing off with Mega Adhesive. Master Q at level 9, and go for W sometime between levels 10 to 12 when necessary.
This is mainly because choosing the E skill instead of W will give you more dealing ability.
|
Empowered Bulwark (Passive)Increases Singed's health by .25 for each mana point he has. |
|
Poison TrailToggle: Singed lays a poisonous trail which lasts for 3.25 seconds and deals 22 / 34 / 46 / 58 / 70 (+30% of ability power) magic damage per second to enemies for 3 seconds. |
|
|
FlingSinged flings an enemy over his shoulder (500 units), dealing 100 / 150 / 200 / 250 / 300 (+100% of ability power) magic damage. |
These items are great for starting top lane. The Crystalline Flask and Health Potions give you good sustain and have become pretty standard start for top. If you can, try to get a Sight Ward when you first start too so you can protect yourself against possible ganks.
Not much to say here. If your lane opponent is a melee champion (or AD), a pair of Ninja Tabi can be a good choice. Try to buy them after your first recall. If you're up against a team with lots of AP damage or slows and stuns get Mercury's Treads.
This is my core for playing Singed. Gives him good sustain, health, and overall tankiness. You can change the order of Abyssal Mask and Randuin's Omen depending on the situation, or you can build the Negatron Cloak first or something. It's all dependent on what you're facing in the game so stay flexible.
If I'm looking to do a substantial amount of damage and I am free to go this route (depending on the game), then I will buy these items.
When you play Singed, you should try to get a quick advantage over your top lane opponent by farming the enemy jungle's Wolves or Wraiths using your Poison Trail with the help of your team. This can give you a great edge over your lane opponent as you will only need 3 melee minions to get a level advantage, and will also help your team slow down the enemy jungler.
I recommend buying Ninja Tabi as your first completed item if your enemy is AD.
Try to save your Fling as it eats up a significant amount of your mana, which you will need to protect your lane. When you need to exchange using Fling, try to do it after level 3. Farming and pushing lanes will become easier after level 6 with your ultimate, Insanity Potion so be patient.
With Singed you can either backstab your enemy or immobilize with Mega Adhesive and toss them away with Fling. In team fights you want to toss them towards a damage dealer or your mid lane preferably for their follow up burst. The key is to prioritize targets and make sure you are able to get them while not messing things up for your own team by flinging someone else who could cause serious troubles for your team.
Also remember, if you plan to farm between turrets you are better off taking Ghost summoner.

Singed is effective against melee bruisers such as Jax, Irelia, and Olaf He can also be a good pick when the enemy picks a sitting style Jungler who has skills with lots of Crowd Control and mainly buys Gold Per items.
The enemy Jungler who mainly buys Gold Per items would have sufficient dealing capabilities to kill Singed. This is one of the ways I confidently tell when I can farm between turrets or not.
Use your discretion to determine whether to pick him or not, but I think it is difficult to face a champion like Jayce or Vladimir. Singed is also pretty weak if the enemy team has a Jungler with Crowd Control that slows like Dr. Mundo, Lee Sin, and Skarner.
