I originally was using 9 points in defense tree, 21 points in utility specifically to get the 5% out of combat speed boost mastery. However, after playing a decent amount of games with him and having tested out the tank tree also, I realized the tank tree just offers way way more useful stats than the utility tree for Bard. I gives him roughly 13 armor and 9 mr at lvl 1 along with a lot more HP regen and the tenacity is amazing for late game. The utility tree gives him literally no useful hard stats besides the out-of-combat ms, and during laning its useless. Basically the defensive tree masteries just help him with his early laning phase, which is where he is weakest. Once you get mobility boots the 21st utility mastery loss will be negligible anyways.

Bard is defo fun champ picked him up today and boy ive never had so much fun , you are right he is useless damage wise lol and that his heal is worthless and 9/10 games adc hasn't got a clue on how to play with a bard , but i still ave fun :D nice guide defo going to try these items been using recommended/what i fancied builds pre.
maybe you should try 21 in utility for the 5% move speed bonus again could be handy for roaming.
