Early Game

In the beginning you should take and some health potions. This start will give you the sustain you need, some health and even ability power. It's a very solid start that will let you be more remarkable during early game.

By the first time you recall you should take and sight ward. If you can afford you should start your Catalyst the protector. The reason you should take Chalice of Harmony as soon as possible is because it provides you so much mana regeneration that really helps you being in lane for a very long time even if the jungler took the blue buff. In addition, it adds a nice amount of magic resist to reduce the enemy's damage. Buying some Health Potion is very important for sustainability in the lane. Wards is the most important Item in the game. Everyone should buy a ward or two every time they are in the fountain because it can save you from a gank and preventing the enemy team to get fed.

Afterwards you should complete catalyst the protector and start building your . The reason I do that is because catalyst the protector gives you even more sustain in lane and lets you spam Glacial Storm on every minion wave, forcing the opponent stay in lane in order to defend his turret, otherwise, his turret will take some damage. you should build Rod of Ages for the sustainability since Anivia is a very squishy champion and for the extra damage.

Then, you should upgrade my Boots to for the extra mobility and damage.
SPACESPACE

Mid Game

By the time you reach mid game, you will have enough survivability to not get wiped out in team fights and inflict enough damage to clear the enemies.

The next item you should build is since it gives an amazing amount of ap, helping you to deal much more damage in team fights.
SPACESPACE

Late Game

In the late game, you will pick all of your items considered in your opponent's team fed characters and composition. I won't Speak much, just pick 3 of the following items:

- gives you a great passive, hight amount of AP and armor. You should take Seeker's Armguard if you face an AD champion as your first item while replacing it with Chalice of Harmony.

- gives you some magic resist, very high mana sustain and a high amount of AP. Must item in my opinion.

- gives you so much additional damage by the 40% magic penetration but it doesn't provide much defensive abilities. Buy if the enemy team stacks MR.

- gives you a nice amount of AP and spell vamp. consider taking that if having duo AP.

- can solve Anivia's mana problems but I prefer Athene's Unholy Grail since it give about the same amount of AP, additional magic resist, additional CDR and about the same effect on the mana problems. If you want to build it, take an early Tear of the Goddess instead of Chalice of Harmony. Can be actually good in season 3 since it upgrades.

- gives Anivia a very high amount of burst dmg that can make her burst a carry with only 1 combo. Less recommended after the nerf.

- gives Anivia a very high amount of survivability. Take it if you tend to die too many times and your team doesn't lose every single team fight.

-warmogs armor gives Anivia a very high amount of health. Take it if you tend to die too many times and your team need a more tanky composition. Built with Guardian Angel will make you so damn tanky, with a second life, egg, about 3-4k health and lots of armor and magic resist.

- gives Anivia more sustained damage and quite helps against a high health enemy team such as Dr. Mundo and Vladimir. You may take an early Haunting Guise if you want to build it(after Rod of Ages and Chalice of Harmony). Thanks to LoL Rndeyez for the recommend.

Summoner Spells

Best Summoner's Spells

SPACE
In my opinion, those summoner's spells are the best spells for Anivia. Flash can be used defensively or aggressively. It can be used defensively by escaping, even through walls, to safety. It can even help you egg near you turret so you won't get chunked down. It can be used aggressively by surprising your enemy, while he's low hp, and bursting him down before he can flash away or do anything else. Ignite helps Anivia so much with her burst damage. Since Anivia's damage won't likely chunk down someone from 100% to 0, it will help you land a kill. It will also help you shut down champions with heal such as Swain.
SPACE
SPACE

Viable Summoner's Spells

SPACE SPACE
Those summoner's spells are decent choice to replace Ignite or Flash. They all have their cons and pros but I recommend taking Flash and Ignite

Runes

Marks

Greater Mark of Magic Penetration is the only mark I will recommend. It gives you so much increased damage in early to mid game since the enemies won't have much magic resist.
SPACESPACE

Seals

Greater Seal of Scaling Mana Regeneration is the seal I recommend the most. It will give you a high amount of mana regeneration and help you spam your abilities more often.

Greater seal of Replenishment is a fine seal too. I still recommend Greater Seal of Scaling Mana Regeneration since it will give you more mana regeneration from level 6~7, where you will be needed it the most since you will need to spam your ultimate to farm creeps or to throw it on your enemy.

Greater Seal of Magic Resist is a nice choice if you are laning against a strong early game champion such as LeBlanc.
SPACESPACE

Glyphs

Greater Glyph of Scaling Ability Power is the most common choice for AP carries. it will give you around extra 24 AP in lvl 18, which will give you lots of extra damage.

Greater Glyph of Magic Resist is a nice choice if you are laning against a strong early game champion such as LeBlanc.
SPACESPACE

Quintessence

Greater Quintessence of Ability Power gives you so much early game damage, it makes you start with around 20 AP which will really help you.

Greater Quintessence of Movement Speed since Anivia has a very low movement speed it will allow you to move faster and catch opponents with your skillshots

Greater Quintessence of Health makes you very hard to kill early game. the best choice when facing a very strong early game champion like LeBlanc.

Masteries

Offensive

Tier 1: you should take Sorcery since it will give you cooldown reduction, which lets you cast your spells more often, which is always good.

Tier 2: you should take Mental Force to improve your magic damage. you should take Expose Weakness in order to let your whole team deal more damage to champions you hit.

Tier 3: you should take Arcane Mastery because it gives a huge increased damage for only 1 point. you should take Executioner to boost your damage.

Tier 4: you should take Archmage because it gives your AP a little additional boost. You should also take Dangerous Game since it gives you more sustain during team fights.

Tier 5: you should take Devastating Strikes because it gives you more damage on AA's harass and more damage on spells. You should also take Arcane Blade to boost your Aa's harass.

Tier 6: you should take Havoc to increase your damage.
SPACESPACE
Utillity

Tier 1: you should take Fleet of Foot to cover your slow movement speed. you should take Phasewalker to recall faster for only 1 point. you may take Meditation to improve your mana regeneration which is very needed as Anivia.

Tier 2: you should take Strength of Spirit to improve your mana regeneration which is very needed as Anivia.

Tier 3: you should take Runic Affinity to make the blue buff last 20% longer.

Skills

SPACE This passive is one of the most known passives in the game. Try to abuse this cool passive in order to fool the enemies and to cause them tower dive you, waste an ignite or just rage them. when caught into a 1 v 1 situation, it may save your life and guarantee you a kill if the enemy didn't finish you off in time.
SPACE
Tips:
  • Try getting in your tower range if you are about to die and the passive is up, so the enemy won't be able to kill you.
  • When you get ganked and you know you won't be able to be saved, try to tell your jungler to come as soon as possible to help you, so he will be able to protect your egg
  • Try to position yourself in a safe place in a team fight so even when you egg your team mates will be able to protect you
SPACESPACE
SPACE This is Anivia's AoE stun+damage. This spell is a skill shot and the only way to improve your chances of hit is by training. It deals damage and applies chill to whoever it passes through and additional damage and stun(and chill) to a small radius of the frost ball when it stops. In order to stop it you need to press the Q again. It's also the only way to apply chill before level 6 in order to get double damage from Frostbite
SPACE
Tips:
  • Always aim this spell towards the place you think the enemy will go.
  • This skill shot is a slow skill shot and if you are used to champions like Ezreal with fast skill shots it will take some time to practice on landing it.
  • Combining this spell with Crystallize will improve the chances of hitting.
  • Try to pop the spell after it past through the enemy, so it will deal the pass damage and the pop damage.
  • Try to follow this spell by Frostbite for a huge amount of burst in the early game.
SPACESPACE
SPACE This spell is one of the most annoying spells for the enemy team. a good crystallize can change the tides of a team fight for either sides. If it catches an enemy champion, he has 2 choices, burn a flash(or a like-flash spell like Ezreal's Arcane Shift) or fight you. If you used it to catch him, you will most likely kill him or burn his flash, which is profit. You can also use it for defensive purposes, to block an enemy champion chasing you or just delaying them. This spell also gives you vision of the area around it.
SPACE
Tips:
  • Use this spell when trying to land your Flash Frost to higher your chances of hitting.
  • Use this spell when chasing an enemy champion to delay him or blocking his path.
  • Use this spell on baron/dragon pit in case you want to check if the enemy team is killing it or you want to know its timer in case you already know they cleared it.
  • Use this spell in brushes/areas you think there might be an enemy in it to check if there's someone in it. If you want to pass through this area if there is nobody in it, try to place it in a way that it doesn't block your path.
SPACESPACE
SPACE This is your main burst ability. You must remember that if the targeted is chilled, it deals double damage. landing this ability when the target isn't chilled will cause a very little amount of damage.
SPACE
Tips:

  • In early game, try to land your Flash Frost and then immidieatly pop your Frostbite to deal amazing amount of burst damage
  • When you reach level 6, try to land your R and then right after land your E to deal a massive amount of burst damage without even landing a skill shot.
  • In mid-late game this spell will deal about 1000 damage(with chill), so try nuking down squishy targets with it.
SPACESPACE
SPACE This is the ultimate with the lowest cooldown in the game. It chills all enemies inside the area and deals a very high amount of damage every second to whoever in it. It is also a great farming and pushing ability. Remember it drains your mana every second so remember to turn it off when needed.
SPACE
Tips:

  • Try to combine your Glacial Storm with Frostbite for a huge amount of burst.
  • This ultimate can be used both as burst damage combined with Frostbite and sustained damage, when the enemy keeps on being in it.
  • Try to land your Flash Frost and stun the enemy while he's in your ultimate or place your ultimate after stunning the enemy for a higher damage amount
  • You can easily wipe out an entire wave of minions by placing this ultimate. It requires about 200 mana if it's a non-siege wave and about 300 if it's a siege wave combined with Frostbite
  • In team fights try to turn it off as soon as you realize no enemy champions standing inside so you will be able to replace it as soon as possible.

Skill Sequence

SPACE
SPACE
-> -> ->

At level 1 you should take Flash Frost for the stun and also Frostbite will deal no damage without the chill. Afterwards you take 2 points in Frostbite to deal a lot of damage with your Flash Frost-> Frostbite combo. Then you take a point in Crystallize for the utility of the ability and continue with the normal priority mentioned above.
You should raise Glacial Storm whenever you can since it's your ultimate and the damage improvement will be the biggest and the most significant. You should maximize Frostbite first since it's your main burst damage ability, target ability and it has a fairly low cooldown. Then you should maximize Flash Frost since it deals a huge amount of damage if it hits twice. You do not want to maximize Crystallize second because this spells shines at team fights and there won't be too much team fights until mid to late game.

Gameplay

Early Game

SPACE
In level 1 you should farm as best as you can and try to land your Flash Frost if you see it's quite easy. Do not spam Flash Frost because you will run out of mana pretty fast. You can also use your Q to farm a group of minions at low health.
SPACE
In level 2-3 you should try to land your Flash Frost at your enemy and use Frostbite right after. Don't forget that you should still be farming more than harassing the enemy champion. Do not spam your abilities unless you have a very high amount of mana.
SPACE
In level 4-5 you should try to combine your Crystallize with your Flash Frost, by shooting the Flash Frost and placing Crystallize right after, blocking the enemy forcing him to move either way. If you are lucky, he will go towards the Flash Frost, giving you an easy stun and a good harassment with Frostbite.
SPACE
In level 6+ you should have Chalice of Harmony already if you have farmed well. If you still don't have it, keep on farming and push the lane when you have enough gold and go back to buy it. You should try to land your Glacial Storm in a way that it hits all of the enemy minions and if it catches the enemy, hit him with Frostbite. You may also play Glacial Storm at your enemy, follow it by Frostbite and Flash Frost and if needed to help your Flash Frost to land, use Crystallize. This combo will put out an enormous amount of damage. If you have cleared the enemy's minion wave and you have more than 300 mana you may take your wraiths/enemy wraiths by placing a wall to block the main wraith(if it's the enemy's wraiths) or all of the wraiths(if it's your wraiths) and placing Glacial Storm and a Frostbite at the main wraith. You may even gank other lanes if your lane is pushed and you have enough mana.
SPACE
SPACE

Mid Game to Late Game

SPACE
In mid game, you should keep farming your lane, making it pushed and forcing your enemy to stay in lane, otherwise, the turret will take damage and he will lose precious farm. That way, you can keep dealing damage to the turret, forcing an enemy out of a fight or gank another lane and guarantee some kills. In team fights you should be in the back of the team, casting your Glacial Storm, trying to hit as many enemies as possible and using your Frostbite on the squishiest target inside your Glacial Storm. You should try to send your Flash Frost to hit the opponents AD carry, since it has a quite long range. If the enemy's AD carry isn't in range, you should fire it towards the squishiest target. You may also use Flash Frost to save one of your teammates by firing it at an enemy that targeted your ad carry. You can initiate fights with your Crystallizeby catching an enemy out of position and taking him out. You should cast Crystallize in team fights to give your ad carry a nice position or to force an enemy wasting time or even forcing him out of the team fight. Remember turning off your Glacial Storm when nobody steps on it as soon as possible to save mana and to replace it as soon as possible.
SPACE
In late game you should stick with your team, unless you are split pushing, and keep doing what you've done in the team fights in mid game. You should use your Zhonya's Hourglass when an enemy champion focuses you and all of your spells on cooldown( Glacial Storm should be placed).

Hard/Easy lanes

Hard lanes:

SPACE
- : This little bastard can dodge your Flash Frost, Frostbite, pass over your Crystallize, and move out of your ultimate in no time. If he's good enough, he'll save his Playful / Trickster to dodge your Frostbite and you will deal no damage to him. He also has a gap closer, which is really hard facing as anivia. Try to avoid a lane like this, but if it has to be like it, just try to Flash Frost-> Frostbite or Glacial Storm-> Frostbite when his Playful / Trickster is on cooldown or when he's close enough so he won't have time to dodge it with his Playful / Trickster. Also try to harass him MUCH with your auto attacks before level 4 and zone him as much as you can. He's early laning phase is BAD.
SPACESPACE
- : She just wreck you into pieces. Her Moonfall will interrupt your ultimate, she has a gap closer with her Lunar Rush which and a nice harass with Crescent Strike. Pre 6 it will be a pretty easy lane, harass much with your AA's and try to land your combo. After 6, if you didn't kill her yet, pray to god that she won't kill you like 20 times. Even after her nerf, she still has a gap closer, nice dmg, shield, CC which interrupts your Glacial Storm and you will barely be able to do something about it.
SPACESPACE
- : Yes. Tristana. It is viable. And yes, she counters you hard. she will out harass you with her Explosive Shot(110 damage+1.0 AP at level 1 with. WTF?), she has nice range with her auto attacks so she will harass you with her auto attacks and if you stand close to your minions she will damage you by killing your minions. if you try to land your combo at level 2-5, a smart Tristana will Rocket Jump on you, damage you with explosive shot and a few auto attacks. If your jungler comes to gank her, she will just rocket jump out of it and even your Crystallize has nothing to say about that. SWAP LANES.
SPACESPACE
- : She will **** on you, as she ***** on every other squishy mid laner. her burst damage after she hits level 4 will be SO hurtful. I rush magic resist items instantly and hope that she won't get many kills. If she didn't kill you more than once in the laning phase, it's your win since she sucks late game. Remember calling ss, she will jump from a lane to another in no time and that's the worst case. Try pushing your lane ALL DAY LONG with your Glacial Storm and just go back to gank or take wraiths.
SPACESPACE
- : Until level 6, you should just harass him with AA's and landing your combo as much as possible. After level 6, a smart Kassadin will use Riftwalk -> Null Sphere -> Force Pulse and you will have NOTHING to do about it. Call ss ALL the time and try to push the lane all day long with Glacial Storm. At least you are better in team fights late game.
SPACESPACE
- : This is one tough lane. If you use your Flash Frost he will just cutthroat-> Rake-> AA-> Noxian Diplomacy and will go back when you're at 50% health. try to AA him all day long and ask for a gank from your jungler. I will not rush Chalice of Harmony in case of facing him since the magic resist will be useless. Just skip Chalice of Harmony and take as many blue buffs as you can to keep up your mana.
SPACESPACE
- : As an AP carry, facing Galio will be extremely hard since he has Runic Skin and he will just stack MR items and your damage will be fairly low against him. Try to abuse the face that you farm way better than him from level 6 and try to push the lane as much as you can, preventing him from ganking other lanes and earning himself kills(his gank ability is extremely high thanks to his ultimate). Late game you are better than him.
SPACE
- : After she hits level 6, she can dodge all of your skillshots very easily with her Spirit Rush. Try to force her to recall before level 6 and remember to stay inside your minions so she won't be able to land her Charm on you, since it will begin her combo. Ask your jungler to gank her before level 6 and try to push the lane after level 6 since ganking her at level 6 is almost useless(unless having an extremely good gank or her ultimate is on cooldown).
SPACESPACE
- : Say whatever you want, Gragas just counter you. He has a way to stop your ultimate, he has a gap closer, high poke damage and high burst. He also he's a nice sustained damage thanks to his high AD, and will be able to kill your egg alone, even with low mana at the early levels. Try dodging his skills and not letting him knock you back with his ultimate, since you will take a lot of damage and might die.
SPACESPACE
- : Zed is a pretty hard lane. Until level 6, you should try to auto attack him as much as you can, and put as much harass as you can on him, he won't be able to kill you unless you get too near with 50% or less hp. From level 6, you should be very very cautious, since 1 combo of him and you're dead, that's where your passive comes in handy, try to get back to turret if your passive is up and his ultimate is on you. Building Seeker's Armguard against him is a must.
SPACESPACE
SPACESPACE

Fairly Equal Lanes

SPACE
- : She is pretty easy to kill if you dodge her Petrifying Gaze. When you hear a silent whispering, it means she casts her ultimate and you should be aware. Try to predict when she is casting her ultimate and face in the other direction to prevent the stun. Try to harass her as much as possible because she can't get the health back in any way.
SPACESPACE
- : She has so much harass damage with he auto attacks and her long ranged abilities. She can also shut down your ultimate with her ultimate. Although, one good stun of yours, and she's down to less health, if not less. Try dodging her skills and not letting her auto attack you since it will deal lots of damage.
SPACESPACE
- : You HAVE to shut her down before level 6. After level 6, don't even try to do anything but putting a Glacial Storm on the enemy minions. She can just use her Shadow Dance and deal about 50% of your health with 1 combo. Combined with 2 more Shadow Dance and an ignite you will get a very, very dead Anivia. although, she is VERY VERY weak pre 6, try to zone her and make her recall as much as you can pre 6 and try to farm better than her after 6.
- : This match-up depends on who initiates first. If you initiate first with Flash Frost, she will mostly Shunpo on you and combo you to death. If she initiates on you, you must Flash Frost her right after she uses her ultimate and you will surely come ahead. Overmore, you have a better poke than her post 6, with Glacial Storm+ Frostbite.
