The Black Blade of Disaster is an ode to the spell of the same name and only half the damage potential. Kassadin as a hybrid can be deadly in both melee range, and while nuking.

Step 1: Harass. Build Kassadin's Null Sphere up, and start out by build Tear of the Goddess (to eventually turn into manamune). You'll want to do this because early on, you'll need the mana and mana regen. You will be melee attacking minions and dropping a null sphere on champions every chance you get.

Step 2: Solo laning. If you didn't start out on a solo lane, then pick one, while your team pushes various turrets, take over their lanes for them, and build up your level and farm like crazy. By now, you better have Wriggle's Lantern and then Beserker's Greaves.

Step 3: Drop turrets. Up until now, the enemy team should consider you a non-issue, and might be elaving you alone. It is time now to show them how wrong they are. Build into Manamune and Nashor's Tooth now, and begin dropping their turrets. You can push a lane faster than most others, by riftwalking on top of minions and then smacking the rest with your melee attacks. Get on a turret, and the moment an enemy champions catches you, riftwalk out and do it on another turret. This ensures their team is focused on you while your team pushes mid. And if they do concentrate on mid, you push sides.

Step 4: Join the fray. Now you have likely built up enough and pushed enough to get the advantage for your team. You'll want to join your team for the big pushes. Show up, riftwalk in, drop a champion, then riftwalk out. Be the voidwalker assassin by popping out on any enemy that strays from the pack. You'll get your team to the finish line this way. Also, you will have wanted to have built Avarice Blade earlier to get it's 5 gold per 10 seconds, but now you'll upgrade it into Youmuu's and get Witt's End. Now you are an unstoppable force.
