Here's my Lucian blue build guide hope this guide teaches you a lot about Lucian's play style as an ad caster. Most people play Lucian as an adc bot lane but they underestimate his potential as an ad caster. In this guide I will teach you how become an OP mid laner as Lucian. My goal is to make this an informative but simple to-the-point guide that you don't have to spend 30 minutes reading. From here on out we'll be referring to Lucian as Blucian

Greater Seal of Armor
This is pretty standard for for any laner or jungler.


Greater Mark of Attack Damage
All of Blucian's abilities including passive scales with AD so you're going to want to get as much of it as possible.


Greater Glyph of Magic Resist
Since you're going mid lane you will need MR to reduce a lot of the damage AP Casters will be throwing at you.


Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage
Again Blucian will need all the AD he can get and this gives him plenty.

Blucian is mana hungry and this will help out maintaining a decent mana pool. It's pretty easy to go oom on Blucian even with Tear of the Goddess

Hardiness I put one point in this because sometimes you will end of facing a ad mid laner but if you're playing draft or ranked and you know your opponent is an ap caster then I'd suggest taking a point of this and putting it in Resistance .

From your starting items you want to get a Tear of the Goddess as soon as possible, even though Blucian's Piercing Light is on a low cooldown it still takes a while to fully charge it. After you've finish your Tear of the Goddess you want to get max CDR or close to max CDR that's why you get The Brutalizer, Ionian Boots of Lucidity and Glacial Shroud theses items plus your masteries should get you to 39% cooldown reduction even though it's not 40% that 1% doesn't really make a difference and you'd be sacrificing more important stats for it. If the enemy team is has a lot of ap damage then you might want to exchange last whisper for

Early game you don't want to go all in for First Blood instead just farm and if you see the enemy laner line up for a perfect opportunity to last hit a creep and harass with Piercing Light followed by Lightslinger then go for it but you really want to play it safe and wait for a jungler to come for a gank. If you see you have a clear advantage in damage and/or skill and you want to go all in make sure you place a ward down on the brush corresponding to the enemy jungler's red buff this way you are a lot more likely to secure a kill and get away with it. After you get your Tear of the Goddess and a decent amount of cooldown reduction now all you want to do is farm farm farm. Spam Piercing Light and Ardent Blaze to clear waves, line up your Piercing Light so it hits 5/6 of the creeps(it's range isn't long enough for all 6) and Ardent Blaze the caster creeps in the back and doubleshot the last one you didn't hit with Piercing Light then Piercing Light the melee creeps and rinse and repeat also if you're pushing faster than your opponent and don't feel like waiting for the next wave you should clear your wraiths camp and by time you get back to lane the next creep wave will be there don't overextend and leave yourself vulnerable to ganks. If you notice the enemy laner going back to base use your ult to shove the lane as fast as possible so he loses cs and experience.

Where to place your ward

You can place your ward here, if you do make sure to hug that part of mid lane so if the enemy jungler comes you know where he's coming from and it's a lot easier to escape him.


Or here which is just as good but make sure to pay attention to your minimap.

Mid Game(20-25mins) your Tear of the Goddess should be close to full if not full and you should be roaming helping other lanes and getting objectives. Of course you can roam a lot sooner if you see a lane failing and your jungler not ganking very often, then take up his responsibility and start ganking other lanes. Make sure your lane is pushed before you start roaming and always keep an eye on the enemy mid laner if he leaves lane right after you left lane, then chances are he knows you're roaming and hes following you. I encourage you to ward as this makes roaming and not getting ganked a lot easier. If you're on purple side try ganking bot lane by taking the route behind dragon pit, and vice versa if you're on blue side take the route behind baron pit to gank top lane.

Pros + Great Farmer + Good trade potential + High damage Ultimate /w armor pen + High mobility + High burst damage

Cons - No CC - Low damage Ult w/o armor pen - Squishy - Underestimated - You're forced to read recycled black jokes

Blucian is a diamond undiscovered but soon everyone will realize how viable he is when they're getting raped by the players who followed this guide. Blucian does insane damage once he gets his core build, his damage is so high to the point where you can Piercing Light - Lightslinger the ad/ap carry they'll have 10% health left if their lucky.
