Threats to Braum with this build
|Ezreal||You block all of his skillshots and have CC that is long range enough to hit him even when he dashes away|
|Graves||EZ PZ. He can't do anything about your shield.|
|Twitch||Soak his ultimate easily! He's garbage against you and can't dodge your Q or R at all.|
|Nami||Soak all of her abilities (pun intended) and kill her immobile ass|
|Sona||Stun and kill her early, soak her ult late game.|
I'm a Braum main with 186k mastery points on Braum as of the writing of this guide. I got a tad annoyed at a few bits of the most popular guide by someone with <50k mastery points on Braum. A lot of my friends are lower elo (mid-silver) so this guide is from the perspective of someone who plays a lot of games against and with some really bad players.
Braum is the best champion for protecting your adc, very good at short trades, and very good at counter-engages. He has a bit of a hard time chasing enemies due to being melee and not having any dash to enemy targets, so it's up to your adc to go ham and you to follow up soon after. Your goal is to stick with your carry, soak damage for them with your manliness, stun enemies with your passive, and cc the enemy team with your ultimate.
Pros & Cons
-Very tanky with his E damage reduction
-Incredibly good at soaking damage for his carries
-Tons of CC
-Good at early game trading
-Prone to poke
-Spellshields & lots of CC ruin you
-Some adcs have a hard time procing the stun due to low attack speed
Passive- Braum's AAs and Q apply stacks of Concussive Blows. When he hits 4 stacks, the enemy is stunned and takes magic damage. Ally champions can apply stacks with their AAs, and the enemy is immune to stacks of Concussive Blows for 8s after the final stack is applied. This passive is incredibly strong, especially if you have an adc that can proc the stun quickly. In teamfights you can stun target after target with no direct cooldown. If you're winning lane it also lets you duel the enemy ADC in very specific situations (in low elo). Remember: it's not always necessary to hit the 4th passive stack. Hitting 2 or 3 and heavily zoning can be useful too.
Q- Braum throws out a projectile that slows and applies a stack of his passive. This is your less ballsy initiation. It's your bread and your E is your butter. It lets you slow an enemy allowing a chase, and lets your team quickly proc the stun. Very good for catching out individual targets, and allows you to go for small trades. Q anyone you intend to kill or stun, and when you're near a target weave it between AAs.
W- Braum hops to a friendly unit (excl wards and towers) Mostly just a nice hop to teammates or minions. It can cross 80% of walls on SR and gives a somewhat handy armor/MR boost. Don't use it for the armor/MR unless you're absolutely sure you don't need it for an escape, but also don't be afraid to use it to save a teammate from death
E- Braum holds up a shield in a direction that soaks all incoming projectiles. The first projectile to hit does 0 damage, the ones after deal reduced damage. This is what makes Braum one of the best champions at letting a carry do their thing without dying. He can block any projectile, including targeted ones and AAs. It also is a really hard counter to people like Cait, Draven, Ezreal, Graves, etc. that put a lot of damage into one AA. It makes your hitbox a little bit bigger and gives a small speed boost during its duration, but those are both fairly insignificant.
R- Braum's ult knocks up enemies in a line and slows around that line for 4 seconds. The first champion is knocked up for 1-1.5 seconds, the rest are barely knocked up at all. Use this to cancel enemy ability channels, set up for other teammates' cc and yasuo ultimates, and mess up enemy positioning with the slow. If you're using it to protect against an assassin, you want to immediately Q and auto that assassin after ulting. With your team's help, you can proc the stun by the time they land and wipe the floor with them.
