Hi, this is my first build on this site. This guide will show you how to be a big deal as olaf solo top/bot. Olaf has been a strong choice of mine for both jungle and solo top for a bit so had time to find items that benefit him. Runes and Masteries the shorten up his weaknesses and a order of abilities that are best for sustain and damage.

21/9/0 Just get basic AD masteries in the offence tree and armor and extra health in the defense tree.

Cloth Armor, three health pots and a ward help against heavy damage opponents and chug pots after a trade or harassment. After getting a kill or some CS get a brutilizer and a phage if you can. The Brutilizer will transform into either Black Cleaver or Ghostblade whichever you see fits the situation. The Phage can become either a trinity force or a frozen mallet again whichever you see fits the situation. After more CS help your fellow lanes get a tower and some kills this should get you enough money to get Ravenous Hydra; and almost essential when I play olaf. Ravenous Hydra lets you clear minion waves faster and gives you more teamfight presence with the AoE passive. After getting this item I get my first tanky item: Sunfire Cape. This again gives you more teamfight presence and lets you tower dive more easily. If the magic damage is too much get either Wits End or Maw of Malmortius or both for more damage and magic resist. Also add a furor enchantment to your boots so you don't feel inclined to get faster boots because enemys are outrunning you. If you need more tanky items get a warmogs, spirt visage, and a locket of the iron solari. These three items give you more armor, health, magic resist, and cooldown reduction. All of which are good on Olaf.

Taking your Q Undertow first gives you a harassment advantage early and a way to last hit. I always max this out first for the slow and damage. Next, your W vicious Strikes is a way to sustain and do extra damage to opponents. For utility, I take it second or third but max last. Your E Reckless Swing deals true damage and takes a small amount of health. This by far olaf's damage dealer but max it second so that way the health taken won't turn against me then for me. Your Ult (R) Ragnarok gives you extra armor, magic resist, and armor penetration. This makes olaf almost unstoppable as it also removes disables and makes you immune to disables for six seconds. Use this for dueling or in teamfights to almost ignore all CC. Also a quick note, use Ragnarok as an escape tool as well. If you are ganked or find yourself low health in a teamfight pop it to remove the disables binding you and run away so the enemy don't get an ace. As an initiator and a strong CC counter I max this third and get every chance I get.

I always take Flash and Ignite as Olaf has no real escape tool besides Ragnarok and I use Ignite so I can finish kills if an enemy goes into tower range.

Olaf excels in Top and is a worthy counter to Irelia and Riven. His kit mixes damage and durability so you can stay in lane longer.
