Hi, I'm a Diamond 1/Challenger Katarina main and I've been playing this champion since season 3 (when I first started playing League). My accounts include:

Katarina is a highly mobile AP carry capable of cleaning up as well as assassinating carries. However, unlike many people believe, Katarina is also capable of initiating teamfights (if you're not a bítch about kda and getting every single kill). She is also extremely snowbally, so if you get a lead during laning phase, you'll also have a high chance to carry the game especially at low elos.

Runes

I like getting movement speed quints against AP champs because they often have skillshots and other stuff that you can outplay.
I like getting standard AP runes with Katarina when playing against AD champs because you can trade better during laning phase especially against champs like Yasuo.

Masteries

Get movement speed masteries when you have movespeed quints.
Get flat health when you have standard AP runes.

Skill Sequence

I like getting W over Q because I usually start heavily trading/ playing aggressive when I hit level 4 with Katarina. If you kite and play smart you can often get a kill pre-6 (this usually works when you start blue pot).

Laning Phase

You often have to play really far back and passive pre-3. Just cs with Q unless you can get autos without losing too much health. You can probably push the enemy champ out of lane once you hit 4 anyways unless its a hard counter obviously.
