Actually, it does mean he is not a good tank, with this build. Either go AP with minor resistances and be the carry, or buy only tank items and be an awesome tank.

nice build, altho I dont follow this completely u did give me the idea for a starting build.
I would agree with some that this is a fairly squishy build.
I tend to go:

°dorans/regrowth pendant(the pendant if the enemy team has some hard harras)
°catalyst
°boots of swiftness/ merc's vs a heavy cc team
°rylai's
°roa
°sunfire cape/force of nature/banshee's
°warmogs(/abbysal scepter/ aegis of the legion/ shurleya's )
°rabbadons deathcap


this works for me, gives him quite a hard hit / nuke and still a nice tank
runes are nice as well

just had 35 - 5 - 21 with the above build
the team was doing bad, I had mid and had 2-0
my whole team was negative, and in the teamfight we completely pulled it back and I carried the game to victory. Therefore the huge amount of kills, my carries couldnt hit hard enough so I pretty much fed em assists and saved em all the time.
And my build even is very tanky, but I solo'd the enemy's fed evelyn and karthus etc easily.

I like your build alot, I've tried it and it worked its just it did not work as well for me as the one I have currently posted. When I tried to combine the two builds it sorta failed me lol

With the New patch coming, I see this build becoming more popular with some items to change
