Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
This is my first guide so pardon any mistake I'll probably make , English is not my main language so forgive me for any error but ill try to do my best.
Hello fellow Cho'Gath players my name is lv4s and i play league of legends for quite a while now , I play mainly solo top role champions and maybe the first one I played was Cho'Gath and I 've gotten pretty good at it so it is time for me to share my foundings.
On this guide I'll show my 2 main builds when I solo top as Cho'Gath hope this builds are usefull for you guys and I would like for you to give me your opinion after trying any of them.
Pros / Cons
- Very Hard to kill
- High damage tank
- Good farmer and pusher
- Can Split push and go right into team fights ( thanks to teleport )
- Excellent disruptor on team fights
- Skill shots are super important for success
- Losing stacks can weaken him a lot
- Early game dependant
- No summoner spells for escaping
- High damage mainly from feast can take a lot of kills from the carrys
About the items I'll try to explain why I use each one as well as alternatives
You should begin with boots and pots to give more mobility on lane and to be easier to land your skill shot's and also to dodge your enemies , and the pots will give you that extra sustain that you already have from your passive .
The first item you should go for is catalyst the protector after that you should finish your boots ( mercury treads or ninja tabi according to who your laning against ) after this finish rod of ages that will be your main source of damage.
After this point you should build randuins omen or force according to the enemies carry's at the moment or if you feel like it go guardian angel if they have ad and ap equally fed.
reaching the last item its really up to the game if an ad is extremly fed build thornmail or if an ap is fed build an banshee's veil.
when the build is finished go for elixir's and oracle , at this point your almost unkillable
Most Cho'gath players dont max vorpal spikes , well I think that on lane this is the most important skill for Cho'gath because it will help you last hit and it will keep you ful life trough your passive. Max it first , then go for feral scream and last rupture.
(Max feast every team its possible)
For Cho'gath I think Teleport and Exhaust are the better summoner spells , teleport let's you split push and when your team needs you can go right in midle of the batle also teleport allows you to go that extra time to base if things arent going so well.
Then exhaust is a summoner to help on ganks and in team fights focusing the enemy ad carry.
You can also go for Flash and Ghost but i dont think that you really need an escape summoner on him becase youl be so tanky mid and late game , but that is up to your play style
On team fights you have to play the role of the initiator starting the fight by trowing the most number of enemies to the air with rupture allowing your team to get the positional advantage , right after rupture use feral scream to silence your opponents , rupture and feral scream will win your team about 2/3 seconds of advantage.
After you initiate go strait for the enemy ad carry using feast on him or using it on a nearby almost dead opponent , but always remember that it is more important to go for the enemy carry's than going after an almost dead opponent leaving your team alone in the fight.
Your teams success depends on you being in the midlle of the fight disrupting the enemy team whenever possible
