You have a good point, but I do much prefer playing champions that take more time and patience (I dare-say skill as well). I made this build before the patch and since I lost the internet + cable package (because we are poor, lol) I haven't had time to edit it. I also plan on looking into a more hybrid based Kat since her ult now scales with both (freakin awesome, imo).

Yeah you are right, but why would you build an autoattack kat when you can play yi, similar shunpo type skill, and much better utilities, plus a damage buff? Katarina is not a tank, but i suggest you look @ the patch that just came out before you make new builds, because she scales off both AD AND AP COMBINED now, making her a lethal weapon. The problem is, you no longer need sheen, again, you rarely get the autoattack. The benefit is you can go Attack with rylais. Also, full ap will still buff your Dagger a bit, which is excellent *trust me it was my biggest problem with AP kat* I don't find either a sheen or a lich viable until late game because you dont have the backing for it. So the sheen will give you what? 40 bonus damage, the lich, 80?.... Just practicality man, that isnt that much damage at all. If it is 4-500 i understand, anything below that is not worth it to me.

Thanks a lot HeAt. As I have respect for most, if not all, the MOBAFire community (especially veterans), I take it constructively. But I must give you my reasoning...

I find that these builds work excellent for me, but that's just me. I was also playing a match that people were trolling against me because I had Ghostblade and saying that I should never be auto-attacking with Katarina. The AD build is for more auto-attacking than having to rely on the abilities. That's what the AP is for in my opinion. is pretty good of an early item for most any AP user. Most of the time I find myself skipping that to get and then immediately anyway.

To be honest, I have even considered stacking only AP or only AD to get the mass effect for her abilities. The abilities are, after all, helped out only by how much AP or AD you have (and penetration).

does 30% of target's health + 3.5% of your ability power. With the relatively short cooldown on it, it also makes for somewhat reliable damage.

The build is not made to take damage because Katarina is not supposed to be tanking anyway. It has excellent viability if you don't play so aggressive that the enemies have no choice but to target you. She is meant to jump in after the tank initiates and tear apart the squishies just like any other DPS, unless you have a death wish. My point here is that sustained DPS (or any DPS) shouldn't concentrate on "What if they hit me?" They should be more focused on "I will not put myself in that bad of a position" and "I will kill them first."

Sorry ani as you might think this is a troll, but i really do feel the need to comment:

Tell me honestly,
AD BUILD: do you really see a point in black cleaver and youmuus on katarina? she isnt a sustained DPS, and you build her way too squishy to even be close. Dimitrija plays her as that, he learned since because that was the ghetto days.

AP: The haunting guise isnt enough of an early game AP push to give you that edge. Katarina is already extremely underpowered, by not giving her an early game nuke boost, she takes a big hit. On that note, wasting gold on Mana items (sapphire crystal) that early is a waste of money. You are getting a lich bane when you only have 80 AP, so your hit will do 80 more damage - magic resist. Really dude? Then a deathfires, which will hit for nothing because it only gains 1% on the ap you have

I would give you a +1 for creativity but definitely a -1 for practicality. Ill get my brother to +1 it to even it out if you make some changes... consider reworking some things, you really should. And dont hate me, or flame, im just trying to be as moba would say "constructive"

Awesome guide man. I just bought Katarina yesterday and after reading the information in this guide I decided AD was for me and so far I've been doing great. My last game I got 16/0/8 in about 30 minutes before they surrendered. I haven't tried the AP one and I don't really want to but I just wanted to say awesome job and I voted you up :)
