Thanks for the positive feedback, and ill try to answer some of your questions.
While i would say yes to getting some sort of mana support for the early game, doing so hurts Sion's damage output early game. Doran's Ring gives you the Mp5 to lane longer, the health to take a beating, and the AP to hurt more. As for getting a Tear Of The Goddess, what do you plan on building it into? The only two things i can remember it builds into is a Manamune ( Which converts mana to damage? Not for AP Sion regardless ) or an Archangel's Staff. Now the Staff would nullify alot of Sion's Mp5 problems and mana problems, the only thing is, since Sion doesnt have a large mana pool, he doesnt get alot of AP output from it. As well, Deathfire Grasp gets rid of the Mp5 problems, and if its REALLY a problem you can take Cannibalism and go solo Golem. Thatll give you CDR and the Mp5 for your mana pool to not even matter.

As for Haunting Guise, the item is there for a early to late game filler. The health fills Sion up while Enrage takes the small bit of time for it to really start giving you the health you want. By the end, if youre not snowballing, you can trade it in for an optional item in my build, since Enrage will have given you the health from Haunting Guise. I hope that clears up some confusion on my choices!

While Cryptic Gaze doesnt increase its stun duration per point you apply into it, it DOES increase with damage, and quite dramatically at that. It starts to hit incredibly hard early game, especially on squishies. I dont like to throw all my coins in one basket because i like the even spread of damage, because if someone pops my Death's Caress early game, what happens to all of my nuke? One point in Cryptic Gaze isnt enough to REALLY hurt someone, especially tougher champs. Thats why i throw 2 points into it early game.
If youd like me to go further into detail, just let me know and ill try to justify my reasoning more for you. :]

Since this is my first build i decided to make on Mobafire, its definitely a breath of fresh air knowing people are actually taking my knowledge and applying it to their game style. It makes it all worthwhile, as im sure you know with your builds. Thanks for taking your time as usual and giving me your support mate!

Nice guide, alhough I'm not going to vote it up or down because
a) I hate AP Sion
b) I hate Mejai's
c) Its not worth a vote-down for either of those crumby reasons :P

Yeah, I Haven't been building that Tear these days. As i said, a plain Sapphire seems to do the job, with all that mana mana regen.


As of Criptic Gaze, i level it equaly with the shield, starting with the stun, and giving a slight advance to the shield to be finnished first. the point? hihgher dmg, and lower delay. that means a lot.

and as for Haunting Guise, i'm happy about it. It does it job, much better than I thought, and it's really cheap.

But what are you building that Sapphire into after you start off?
I really dont feel like it boosts your damage all too much early game, and i dont believe it flows into any of my starter items, so im curious as to what youre turning it into. I do know it builds into Banshee's, so im wondering if maybe youre making a defensive item earlier on?
How does that work for you if you are?
