Only played this matchup a few times, your level 2 is stronger than his if you can dodge his knockup, kind of annoying that he can survive a level 2 cheese for free, if you can avoid using ignite the first time you get his passive down, try to save it for the second time.
Early boots are very helpful for dodging his harass, so going two doran's -> boots and then your third doran's might be better than going 3 doran's immidiately
Late game you need ignite to kill him unless you're significantly ahead or are able to 1 shot him.
Akali
Easy enough lane, not extremely popular in top lane, your goal should be to get off your auto + Q at level 1 without allowing her to detonate her Q, if you do this twice before you hit level two you should be able to level 2 cheese her. If you fail to level 2 cheese Akali, DO NOT ALL IN HER after she gets 3 charges of her ult UNLESS you have already gotten your 3 doran's blades AND have ignite up
If you're playing vs Akali mid, late game you can ult to reveal her, be careful though, as when you exit stealth you'll lose vision, so it's usually best to ult, let your team kill her, and then jump on a different carry.
Alistar
VERY ANNOYING LANE. Against an Alistar of equal skill YOU CAN'T MILK THOSE. Your best bet, is to walk up to him at level 1 and try to bait out his Pulverize, and then trade with him as many times as you can before it's off cooldown again, Alistar's cooldowns are LONG AS HELL, so you should be able to get off at least two auto + Q combos each time he wastes his Pulverize. DO NOT FIGHT HIM DURING HIS ULT. This ult is so annoying, your bola barely slows him, and you literally do no damage to him, this is a champion you need to level 2 cheese, and then get a level advantage on to even think about snowballing against. Also, since your build doesn't include tenacity, his pulverize will last long enough for him to walk around and headbutt you into his tower. It's really easy to get baited into this if you're winning lane and playing aggressively. His ult and this combo makes it very easy for him to get back into lane even if you got a successful level 2 cheese. He also is extremely good at receiving ganks, so if you did not kill him at level 2, you need to ward your lane and expect a jungler to gank you.
Late game you can lifesteal off of him pretty easily as long as you're not fighting near his towers and know where his team is, you're pretty safe fighting him whenever you feel like.
Azir
Never played against, but I understand that this is a very frustrating lane if he positions his soldiers correctly. You can snowball off him if he makes the mistake of putting a soldier in brush at level 1, as you can jump onto him and his soldier will not be able to help him at all. YOU CAN'T JUMP OVER HIS WALL WITH YOUR ULT. Don't fight him at all if you don't think you can win a fight to the death, as his kit has excellent mobility and chasing potential. Your goal in this lane is to not get shoved under tower,, if you're shoved under tower, you won't be able to take ranged creeps without tanking 2+ soliders and his auto attack damage. To win this game you need to try and take him out at level 2, try to take him out again before 6, and then kill him a 3rd time with your ultimate before taking his tower and roaming.
In late game teamfights, you need to execute your combo perfectly or else he'll just throw you off of their carry and you'll be useless for the rest of the fight.
Cho'Gath
Kill him early or you probably won't kill him at all, his sustain is better than yours before you get your 3 doran's blades, and his all in at 6 is better than yours unless you manage to dodge all of his skillshots. You should try to zone him hard if he falls for your level 2 cheese, as the longer you can delay his Rod of Ages, the harder you'll outscale him late game. Late game if you're both full build, an ignite Cho'Gath with a Thornmail wil beat you in an all-in assuming you both land all of your damage, flashing to dodge Rupture is MANDATORY if you want to fight him late game.
Darius
This guy is a douche bag. Dodge his Q, go for an auto + Q, run away. Do this enough times level 1 and you can level 2 cheese him, if you don't have a SIGNIFICANT HP advantage, or unless he has JUST MISSED Q you SHOULD NOT try to level 2 cheese him, the risk of darius hitting level 2 in the middle of your engage is very risky, and you need experience in this matchup to know which all-ins you will win and lose against this champion. If you're going even with him, do not fight him at level 6, you NEED your 3 doran's blades to think about fighting him in lane post-6. Post-6 you can easily outsustain him if you go for constant trades and spam your empowered W as much as possible, just be weary of him slowing you and forcing an all in. Late game you can lifesteal off of him assuming you're significantly ahead. If you're not ahead of Darius late game, do not fight him unless you have your hydra and he has built tanky WITHOUT a thornmail, and DOES NOT have ignite up.
Diana
Easy lane pre-6 I've plthis champion mid lane a bit, and she can be played top lane, if she maxes Q, do your best to bait her into Q'ing the brush, and then jump on her before the Q gets to you, if she maxes W, try to get her to fight you near brush, and then jump to a creep as soon as she uses her W, her W's cooldown is longer than your Q, so try to auto + Q once to bait out her W, run away, auto + Q again as soon as it's off cooldown, and then avoid trading until your Q is off cooldown again. Your level 2 cheese is different depending on what she starts, if she starts Q, just execute the standard level 2 cheese, go for two auto + Qs before you hit two, and then kill her when you hit two, If she starts W, you should try to bait out her W right before you hit level 2. If you get ahead of her, she literally has no escapes, so you should be able to snowball off of her hard. She will probably rush Zhonya's, which makes her hard to fight, as she can zhonyas during your ignite, and this enables her to get off a second combo. Do not fight her until you get your Last Whisper if she is going even and completed her Zhonyas. Late game, if she is full build, or went even, and has ignite, she can probably 1 shot you assuming she lands Q. It's not easy to 1 Shot Diana late game, as she typically goes for a tankier build than most AP champions. However if her ignite is down you can lifesteal off of her and win almost all fights.
Dr. Mundo
Do not go into their jungle for any reason against Mundo, you probably can't fight Mundo level 1, and his level 1 chase is VERY STRONG, so if he gets any help from his team, you're not going to be able to get away. Dodge cleavers and you win this lane. Standard level 2 cheese should work. Learn the cooldown of his ult and compensate for the items he has built (in terms of CDR) if he misses a cleaver you should instantly go for a trade, if he has cleaver up, you will lose the trade unless he is overextending for you casters etc. Mid game you're a monster compared to him, you probably won't be able to kill him post-6 unless you're significantly ahead, so you need to try and take tower early, and start roaming bot and mid to get an early advantage for your team. Mundo's late game is very strong, and although he won't be able to instantly delete one of your carries, the damage he is able to soak in a teamfight is insane, and you probably will lose teamfights unless you can take out their carries before the fight starts.
Elise
Seems like a bitch of a lane, Elise can go two builds top lane, a bruiser build with BotRk, and a regular MPen build, if she goes the bruiser build she should be very difficult to fight, and if she goes AP her poke is VERY high. her levels 1-3 are stronger than yours, but your level 4 5 and 6 are stronger than hers, your goals should be to successfully level 2 cheese her, and if that doesn't work, to keep her from shoving you under tower. If Elise can shove you under tower, you're literally going to need a potion every wave. Also if she gets you low enough and lands a cocoon, her early game tower diving is VERY strong. try to keep the lane from getting shoved under tower, but on your side, if you do this and stay relatively healthy, your jungler WILL gank, and it should be pretty easy to follow up on, as Elise doesn't have much in terms of escaping. Late game I have no idea who wins a fight, if you're going even, only fight if you have ignite. Against a bruiser Elise you probably lose unless you're stomping, and vs AP probably whoever is ahead or has the ignite advantage
Regardless, you should try to dodge her cocoon, with flash if need be.
Fiora
Very winnable, but extremely skill intensive. You need to have the reflexes to cancel your AA the moment she activates Riposte, depending on if she started Q or W, if she started Q, she will win the first trade in lane, HOWEVER, her Q's cooldown is 16 SECONDS, which means you can get TWO MORE QS in the downtime of hers, so ideally you should go for an auto + Q, kite back into your creeps (STILL AUTOING HER AS YOU RUN) while she uses her combo, and then go for an auto + as soon as it's off cooldown, and then go for your level 2 cheese.
If she starts with W, you shouldn't auto + Q you should activate Q before you jump and then run away, unless fiora has GOD REFLEXES, you'll be able to get off Q damage before she ripostes, and then run away, turn and auto her after her W runs out, and then go for an auto + Q as soon as it's off cooldown, as her riposte's cooldown is longer than your Q's. You should use empowered bola on Fiora instead of empowered Q when you go in for a level 2 cheese (if she started W), as she will probably use her Riposte as soon as you go on her, so this way you stil get empowered damage off, and you will have her rooted until her W runs out. 3 doran's are MANDATORY, as Fiora's ult WILL destroy you without the extra HP. If you're not ahead before 6, you should ask for ganks, Fiora is exceptionally prone to ganks ASSUMING SHE CANNOT 1 SHOT YOU and then 1v1 the jungler afterwards. Thankfully, if you're >70% HP, you can usually farm under tower without recieving any harass assuming she isn't extremely fed. Late game you shouldn't fight her if she has ignite up, you should ignite Fiora IMMIDIATELY AS YOU GO ON HER, as she will lifesteal back up her health during her ult, however this will be reduced if you ignite BEFORE she ults.
Fizz
Fizz is very similar to Rengar in the sense that he cannot trade without "all-in'ing" his opponent in lane, you can capitalize on this in several ways
Early game, Fizz can start with any ability, however most will start Playful/Trickster. A good Fizz will use his E as soon as you exit the brush, and will try to completely negate your combo, for this reason, you should not activate Q early when jumping on Fizz, and assume he'll juke your first AA, as soon as he lands you should Q him, not auto Q, just Q, this is because he will be able to run away from you because of his slow, and that will prevent you from doing an auto reset. After he has used his E, this lane becomes much easier, the cooldown of this ability at level 1 is 16 SECONDS, this means you can do TWO auto + Qs during his playful cooldown, after this, you should be ready to level 2 cheese him, and you only need to worry about anticipating his E so you can land Bola. If Fizz starts Q, you can abuse this by doing an auto + Q, and then quickly positioning yourself in between him and your creeps, if he uses his Urchin Strike. he will put himself in the middle of your creep wave, and you should auto him until he gets back to his creep wave, he should be low enough to kill the next time your Q is up if he makes that mistake even before you hit level 2. If he starts W his passive damage ability, you will outtrade him hard whenever your Q is up, however you cannot engage in prolonged auto attack trades with him at level 1. This is by far the easiest ability start of his to level 2 cheese. If you are not ahead in early game, you need your doran's to survive his level 6, if you're both 6 and he throws shark at you to go for an all in, YOU SHOULD TRY TO FLASH IT AND GO ON HIM. Without shark, you easily can win an all in, and can chase him across lane with your ult if you wait for him to use playful/trickster to try and get away. Late game, shark -> DFG ignite QW + E WILL ONE SHOT YOU unless he's hopelessly behind from lane, the same thing applies as level 6, flash shark, or even flash E if you didn't flash the shark, and you should come out on top. In teamfights, you're better at taking out the enemy backline, however he's better at staying alive after he kills yours, keep in mind if you fail to kill their backline in 1 combo you're screwed, as you have no escapes afterwards and the adc will probably kite you to death. Fizz also has greater teamfight potential due to his ult being a massive disruption usually.
TL;DR winning lane is easy but if you don't Fizz will probably be more useful than you in teamfights.
Gangplank
There are two types of gangplanks you will play against, the ones that farm with Q for 30 minutes before building their crit items, and those that try to be pantheon and spam Q on you every 5 SECONDS. Gangplank's level 1 is stronger than yours, auto + Q'ing a Gangplank is risky because he can auto + Q you right back and chase you back into your creeps. If you're going to try and trade with him in lane, you need to wait for him to either extend into your creep wave and auto a minion, OR use his Q to farm a creep. If you don't hit level 2 first, you shouldn't go for the level 2 cheese, as he can probably fight at level 2, and even if he can't, his oranges will make it so you can't kill/stick to him. Once he falls behind though, he's pretty easy to repeatedly kill, I'd suggest finishing your boots early so that you can stick on him. Late game, you can probabably 1 shot a crit-plank, but don't try to walk up to him and fight him without ult, as his Q will probably crit, and get you very low, to the point where you can't actually fight him anymore. If you're vs a tankplank, you shouldn't waste your time trying to kill him, as his built in cleanse and innately high movespeed will make him very hard to chase down and kill.
Garen
If you want to fight him, you need to activate your Q before you go to trade with him, as his silence will prevent you from doing an auto+Q, a lot of times Garen players will rush to the brush at level 1, like you will be doing, do not fear though, as you can beat garen in a 1v1 at level 1! as long as you use your Q as an auto reset, you win an level 1 all in because your Q's cooldown is lower than his. You can try to use your Q on cooldown in lane, as his Q's cooldown is 2 seconds longer, however he can probably catch up to you in the two seconds after, so this is risky. Ideally you want to push and hit level 2 before he does and use your level 2 cheese, he is tankier than most tops though and will probably live, so don't use ignite unless he stands and tries to fight you. If you don't manage to get lane control by level 2, you should play more passively, as Garen's damage levels 4,5 and 6 is ridiculous. You DO NOT win an all in with a level 6 Garen without your 3 doran's blades. Late game you can beat him in a 1v1 assuming your get off all your abilites before he silences you, as you can lifesteal off of him if he went tank.
Gnar
Gnar is an easier lane, he wasn't that difficult to play against before his nerfs, and with the early game nerfs, he is quite easy to snowball off of. This lane is all about dodging Gnar's Q, so it is a skill matchup in the end. You should try to bait him into using Q on the brush you're in, and then jump to a creep before the Q hits you, after you do this, you have an 8 second window to trade with him, so you should go back to the brush and do an auto Q to him before running away, do this twice before you hit level 2 and you should have an easy level 2 cheese. After Gnar hits level 3, his kiting potential in lane gets a bit stronger, you need to be careful about dodging his Q at this point, because this combined with two autos will give Gnar a hyper proc, which means he will probably get about 3 more autos on you.. and you probably just lost lane off of it. Your goal against a Gnar is to NOT GET SHOVED UNDER TOWER. Gnar's harass under tower is so fucking annoying, I could punch a yordle. Seriously though this is like Azir or Nidalee or Teemo.. try not to get shoved under tower, as a good Gnar will land multiple autos and Boomerang Blades during the animation of your auto attacks when you cannot move. Until you get your 3 doran's blades, you proably shouldn't fight Mega-Gnar, if you fight Mega-Gnar near a wall post-6, you'll probably die unless you're super fed. Mid game your teamfight is better than Gnar unless he uses his Rage Gene perfectly and can time his Mega Gnar for an engage, and late game, if Gnar went for a damage based build, you can probably 1 shot him under tower if he tries to stop you from split pushing. Late game Gnar can kite you to death, so kill or be killed, once Gnar has his slow on you, there is no getting away, if he's not stupidly far behind and he gets his hyper proc, you're better off using your ult to get away, or even using it to reengage once your cooldowns are up, than trying to walk up to him (get kited) or run away (get kited)
Gragas
Gragas top isn't very popular, but I imagine the matchup would be similar to other skillshot champions, and should involve using the brush to dodge his Q. If Gragas wants to hit level 2 before you, he will, as his level 1 shove potential is much higher than yours, a level 2 cheese is possible but Gragas would need to misplay significantly. On the other side of the coin, Gragas can level level 2 cheese you, as he has two built in slows in his kit, and he has the waveclear and harass to get to level 2 first, with a significant HP advantage. Fortunately most Gragas will start flask, so you can easily fight him at level 1 if you dodge his first Barrel Roll. Late game if Gragas goes for a damage based build, you can probably 1 shot him if you pay attention to when his damage reduction is up. If he goes for a tankier build like RoA, be careful about trying to tower dive or assassinate him near his towers, as his kit makes it very easy for him to put you under tower and keep you there for several tower shots.
Irelia
Irelia top is super strong right now, her stun's cooldown is super low, and the duration is very nice, I actually ban her quite often, but she can be laned against. Basically, Irelia wants to passive farm this lane, and her kit enables her to do so. If you go for a trade with her, she's going to stun you right after and auto you back. You will probably lose the trade, basically you need her to mess up and use her stun offensively. If she uses her stun on you first, (it's a slow if you have less HP than her) you have free reign to dump your entire kit on her. Her stun is also on a slightly longer cooldown than yours, especially after you put points into your Q, and you should be able to get off a free auto + Q in the cooldown of her E. Late game, Irelia can probably 1v1 you if she has ignite up and is going even with you.
Jarvan IV
Annoying champion. If he gets ahead you have to stay under tower at all times, as you literally can't run away. Your level 2 cheese is the only thing you have on him. If he misses Q you have to go for a trade, even though you'll probably end up going even because of his passive, his passive cooldown is about the same as your Q, so prepare to burn though a lot of sustain at level 1 to get him low, you should use your potion before you try to level 2 cheese him. If you fail to gain lane control from the level 2 cheese, you're probably screwed as most J4's go flask start. You should ward your lane immediately if you fail your level 2 cheese, and recall as soon as you have enough gold for another doran's blade + 3 health potions (580g)
At level 6 you need to stay the fuck away from him if you're not ahead, or if you don't have your 3 doran's blades yet, and ward your lane on the trinket cooldown. J4 is VERY easy to gank for, so oftentimes you'll get camped even if you're very ahead in lane. J4 scales decently into late game even if behind, and he will bring a lot more utility to teamfights than you will, so you need to take out their carries as soon as possible, or wait until J4 tries to ult yours before going in, if J4 ults you in a teamfight you literally can't do anything but go onto J4 Late game you can duel him if your ignite is up, be weary of tower diving him as he can ult you and then flash out of his ult while you're stuck tanking tower hits.
Jax
Supposed to be a counter. You can easily outplay him level 1 by baiting out counterstrike and then going in for auto + Q's afterwards. Hard to level 2 cheese him though, if you can bait out his stun, you should try to kill him at level 2, if you can't, you can bait out stun by jumping on him, using empowered bola, running away, and then using bola auto + Q, probably won't be first blood, but you can get him very low off this. If he starts E, you should only trade with him when your Q is off cooldown, because his W has a lower cooldown than your Q. If Jax gets ahead in this lane, play very passive, don't try to abuse the cooldown on his E as he will still win all ins. Hope your jungler ganks if he gets ahead, there isn't much to do but farm for late game if he gets a significant lead. Also very important part of this matchup is learning Jax's power spikes. When he finishes his Trinity his dueling potentential spikes, the same thing happens when he gets his BotRk, you should not fight him unless you have all of your spells up when he has just hit a power spike. Side note, flashing out of Jax's E range can be the difference between winning a 1v1 and losing it, especially late game.
Jayce
Jayce top outtrades you hard at levels 1-3 he still outtrades you levels 4 5 and 6, but typically you have a better chance of winning an all in, when you've recently leveled up your Q. To beat Jayce in lane, you need to either capitalize on the short window when he switches stances, in this window he only has access to half of his kit, and you can easily win trades. Also if he misses his Q at level 1 you should go for an auto + Q trade, if you can do this twice before you hit level 2 (before he does) then you are clear to go for a level 2 cheese, however if you eat a, Ranged form auto debuff -> Q -> Melee Q -> melee empowered auto, at any point level 1, you've pretty much lost lane.
On your first back, you'll probably see that Jayce picked up tear, if you've gone your OP doran's items, you will be able to 1v1 a tear Jayce, a Jayce will probably go double doran's -> tear, but if he only picks up tear and some potions, you should fight him if you have double or triple doran's, even if you are slightly behind in lane
Jayce is frustrating to play against when behind because of his poke under tower, you should prioritize NOT ALLOWING JAYCE TO SHOVE YOU UNDER TOWER. It's EXTREMELY easy for Jayce to land the super fast Q thingys on you when you're going in for last hits under tower, and you will probably have to consume two potions every wave with the constant auto attack harass he can dish out under tower. If you get ahead you can play aggressively, but be weary of Jayce's full combo , as his damage is very high even if you already gotten a level 2 kill on him.
Kalista
Probably poops on you, let's hope Kalista top doesn't become a thing.
Heimerdinger
Almost forgot this guy. Heimer basically counters all melee champion's very existence. You can cheese him at level 1 before minions spawn though. Most Heimer's will run to lane before minions spawn and start putting turrets in the lane, if you can get there first, or at the same time as him, you can easily kill him at level 1 with your superior all in and movespeed. If he only has 1 turret (which is all he can have at level 1 unless he got there at least 24 seconds before you), you can easily just kill him if he tries to kite around it. In lane, you can auto + Q his turrets, and that will 1 shot them. Early game he can only hold 1 turret at a time, and the recharge time is 24 SECONDS, you can easily just force him to use all his turret charges by killing them as he places them, especially at level 1. At 6 if you want to win a fight vs heimer you should try to kill him, wait for him to use the big turret, and then ult and wait for the turret to die. DON'T LET HIM SHOVE YOU UNDER TOWER. HE'S ALMOST AS BAD AS AZIR. In teamfights he is super annoying, and as tempting as it is to dive him first, you should just go for the ADC who can't Zhonya's your burst. Without their ADC, your team can focus down heimer's turrets and then kill him. Late game you can try to assassinate him, some Heimerdinger's will be legends who press R and Zhonyas within the .5 second window you need to kill them, and you will have to tank that fucking turret for 2.5 seconds, this could result in your death if Heimer is fed enough.
Karthus
Annoying lane, Karth top is not popular, but the one's I've played against spammed Q on cooldown and I couldn't do shit but wait for them to go OOM. I honestly think a good Karthus top will destroy Rengar almost every time. Most will go exhuast, and even if you can get off your level 2 cheese, you'll probably die afterwards to Karthus's passive. Only reason this matchup isn't that hard is because Karthus top is super easy to gank, and most junglers will camp an immobile champion like Karthus.
Kassadin
auto + Q on cooldown every time it's up, Kassadin's ability to trade back with you is pretty bad, and you should have no problem's at all getting a level 2 cheese, kill him as many times as possible pre-6, using every trick in the book (see rest of guide), and delay his Rod of Ages for as long as possible. If he's so far behind he opts to not go for RoA, you can easily 1 shot him late game. Also if you somehow fall behind in lane to Kassadin pre-6, junglers love ganking a Kassadin, most of them remember the days of permaban Kassadin, and will rejoice in the thought of killing him. Killing him post-6 is a bit harder, and you should try to jump on him from a brush, and then using your ultimate to catch up to him after he ults away. Make sure you land bola against this guy, because without it he'll be able to get away even if you ult after him the second time.
Katarina
Kat top isn't really a thing, but in the rare case Voyboy is in your game trolling with Kat top, you should go on her every time your Q is up, and try to get a kill on her at level 2 with your level 2 cheese. Once she hits level 6, she could very well duel you, since you have no means of cancelling her ultimate, your best chance of fighting her is just running away when she ults you, (typically this is towards her creeps as this is closer to the edge of her ult radius than your tower since shunpo goes behind you, and then reengaging as soon as she cancels it. If you don't take full damage from it you should be able to kill her easily. Late game if your team doesn't have many stuns, you should prioritize her in teamfights especially after she uses her ult, as if she is forced to Zhonyas she won't get off full ult damage, and if she doesn't, you'll kill her. Also you can kill her without diving as she will be diving your backline more often than not, so you can kill her and get out fairly easily. If she gets ahead in lane however, you're in a tough spot since her high mobility means it's hard to gank her without hard cc.
Kayle
Similar matchup to other ranged champions, it changes based on what she maxes, most Kayles will max Righteous fury, which gives her ranged auto attacks, against this, it is important to get off your auto Q and then get out of range as soon as possible, as extended trades are not in your favor unless you're ahead. However at level 1 your autos will do more than her's even with them being empowered. At level 1 you want to go for two auto Q's on Kayle and get the other two stacks on minions, standard level 2 cheese will work very well as Kayle has no CC or escape at level 1. If you don't get the level 2 kill, you will probably be forced to play a bit more passive, Kayle's Q does A LOT of damage at level 2, and if she maxes it, the damage will surpass your auto Q damage assuming she kites you back and auto attacks you during the slow. If you want to fight a Kayle that's maxing Q you need to land your bola and all of your damage, while staying on top of her, it actually makes sense to use empowered bola here, as with her heal's movement speed boost + the slow from Q, she will still be able to kite you with just your regular bola's slow. Post 6 your best bet to fighting a Kayle is to use all of your burst, get your slow on her, and reposition, preferably to some brush where she can't attack you during her ultimate, and then jump back onto her, ideally, you jump on her from a brush, pop her ult, you pop yours, and then jump on her again after her ult wears off. Like all ranged champions. DO NOT GET SHOVED UNDER TOWER, Kayle's ranged harass isn't as bad as some champions, but it still hurts quite a bit and you'll need to chug a potion every wave to stay healthy. Late game, Kayle is annoying if she pays attention, you're better off ulting the ADC or the mid lane rather than her, as she will probably be more likely to react faster to herself getting killed than her teammates. A perfect Kayle player will have the reflexes to ult the champion you choose to go on while you're mid leap. Therefore it may be better to try and wait until someone else can get her to blow ult before going into the teamfight.
Kennen
Annoying. Look at his model carefully to see when he has his 4th auto attack ready. Don't fight him if you have any stacks of the storm or whatever the fuck they are called beforehand. Dodge his shuriken. Level 2 cheese every day. You need to land your bola if you want to chase him because of his cocaine rush I mean Lightening Rush. If he rushes Zhonya's and isn't behind, don't fight him until you get last whisper. Don't let him shove you under tower. His teamfight is really nice, You are better at spilt pushing than him. If your team isn't behind, and you can keep him top while both teams 4v4, that's probably better than a 5v5 with the Kennen there. Late game you can duel him if you land bola and he can't kite you around.
Kha'Zix
If he starts flask you can 1v1 him in a brush before minions spawn IF YOU DON'T ALLOW HIM TO REFRESH HIS PASSIVE. His Q is on a lower cooldown than yours, so don't engage in prolonged trades in lane unless he goes into your minions, if you can trade near your minions that is ideal, and he will do almost no damage to you early at level 1 without his isolation.
Level 2 cheese should be easy, if you can't successfully cheese him, you can force him to burn through his mana pool as he needs to spam W for sustain while your sustain is free. His Q only costs 25 mana, so just because he looks OOM, he can almost always use his Q. Don't let Kha'Zix refresh his passive for free in lane, this means warding one brush, and occupying the other if need be. (Kha'Zix's passive is refreshed when you lose vision of him) Late game if he goes full damage you can probably 1 shot him, if he goes Randuin's + damage you can probably duel him if you have ignite up and deal all of your initial damage while coming out of ult with 5 ferocity. If he gets ahead you're fucked though because he's hard to gank and he snowballs like crazy. Late game in teamfights you're more useful than him as he is forced to build slightly tanky to survive, and therefore can't 1 shot carries like you can... also they nerfed Kha'Zix a while ago so he couldn't cast W mid air (but you still can!) which took away most of his 1 shot potential.
Lee Sin
You outrade him early game and you have shorter cooldowns, your worst nightmare is eating auto+tempest+2 autos + criple + 2 autos. as he can do this right after your Q, ideally you want to auto + Q, and then run away so he can only land tempest and maybe one or two autos, be sure to kite him (while still autoing) if he tries to chase you into your creeps (the cripple nerf a few patches back means that you can actually trade with Lee if you can get back to your creeps) after you auto + Q and get his tempest, you can go back in right when your Q gets off cooldown, as his tempest's cooldown is 10 seconds compared to your Q's 6
If Lee sin decides to be a legend and maxes Q, all bets are off. He out trades you HARD at level 1, and even though his cooldown is 11 seconds to your cooldown's 6, you'll be pretty low if lee sin landed an AA + Q + 2AA + Q + AA at level 1, and it's possible that he could all in you after you jump on him. Late game you need to do your combo well or he will kick you away. and late game if he is smart he will position himself in between his carries and you and reveal you before you jump on them. If you get ganked post 6, don't bother trying to ult to get away if he has already landed tempest or Q on you. If you lose the lane getting ganks is hard, as lee sin has very high mobility and it will be very difficult to catch him without WW ult or long stuns.
Lissandra
Hard to lane against, her Q range is longer if you're standing behind minions, so stay in the brush. Go to trade on her if she misses Q, it has the same cooldown as yours so only trade on cooldown if you have more sustain than her. Level 2 cheese isn't that hard to pull off, but post-6 you can't really kill her that much because she'll just ult you and then e away. If you want to kill her post 6 you need to basically 1 shot her before she can react, if she ults herself, you have a free kill, as you can snare her right after she casts E, and she will be unable to take the E to get away. Annoying champion regardless, hard to gank, so don't ask for ganks unless she is really shoved up and oom or something.
Like all ranged top laners, try not to let her shove you under tower.. lissandra's under tower harass is somewhat lackluster until she hits level 9 though, so you won't need to burn through that many potions for getting pushed in.
Lucian
I mean people do this sometimes I guess. Don't stand in line with your minions or he will hit you with his Q, jump on him whenever your Q is up level 1, level 2 cheese is easy for him. Don't let him get free autos. If you get a level 2 kill, or even farm and go even with him, you can probably kill him at level 6 with a full combo... Try not to get shoved under tower, but lucian can't do that much damage unless he is ahead. Late game you get to pick from TWO ADCS which is really nice. Also their team probably won't have a split pusher that can respond to you without you just tower diving them/1 shotting them. Side note, late game they will have 2 adcs... this can be good or bad. If you have a strong diving tank line, or another assassin mid, this will be a ton of fun, if you're the only person with diving potential on your team, you might have issues if they burst you down instantly.
Nasus
Hate this lane. Really easy, but super hard. Nasus outscales you. He's a bit to tanky to level 2 cheese and you don't want to shove up to his tower early because then he'll just free farm, see if you can get your jungler to gank at level 3, and then don't push up for the early level 2. If you get a lead, you should probably stay top and repeatedly kill him so he can't actually farm up and outscale you, however you have to be careful with your aggro, since his W counters your kit hard, and with ult he can sometimes 1v1 you even if he's behind. This lane honestly sucks because if your team is behind you need to roam, but then you can't roam because it's nasus and you need to stay top and deny him cs. Late game don't try to 1v1 him. Just go for carries in teamfights, hope your team has good peel to prevent him from getting to your team's carries.
Maokai
Tree!!! He has very nice sustain, and due to your spammy nature, he actually gets good sustain off of you spamming your skills, for this reason I suggest you refrain from spamming your spells on creeps for stacks, and try to use them on him. Cheesing him at level 2 is kind of difficult due to the fact that his Q will basically peel you off of him, but if you land your bola and aren't too close to his tower, you shouldn't have any problems. At 6 he will ult and run at you and you should run away unless you're pretty far ahead, try to fight him when his ult is off, you can go for auto + Q trades if he misses his Q, as it is a skillshot so he can miss it. Tree is pretty strong though, his late game teamfighting is arguably one of the best in the game. if you take out a carry in the beginning you should still win the fight but tree is pretty annoying :P
Malphite
Shield makes it hard to get his HP really low early, try to bait out his ground pound thingy, and then go for trades, once you get his shield down, go for auto + Q's on cooldown to keep it down. Level 2 cheese is possible, but Malphite is usually harder to kill because of his slow/AS slow. If you're not ahead by level 6, be careful of his level 6 all in, especially with ignite, it does a hella lot of damage. Also malphite is like 10x more useful than you in teamfights even if you 1 shot a carry at the beginning. Late game you can duel him once you get Hydra if you're going even
Nidalee
Easy enough matchup, she can out trade you early game if she lands a spear or if you step on a trap, however she's really squishy early, so you should try to auto + Q her twice and then go in at level 2 for the kill. If she has landed a few spears and you're both low, don't go for the cheese, and take w second for the heal, and use it to get back your HP. Nidalee has a stronger all in than you at level 3, but you have a stronger all in than her levels 4 and 5, at 6 she wins again. If she goes AP, you can kill her late game, if she goes bruiser, you can still fight her, but she will probably get away from you so it's not worth it to try and 1 shot her.
Olaf
Don't try to fight him to the death at level 1, he can actually just straight up kill you if he lands axe several times in a row at level 1 even if he chases you into your creeps. Only go for trades if he misses axe, If you hit level 2 first and have an HP advantage, the level 2 cheese is free. If you're both going even at 6, back the fuck up, since he will probably be able to just straight up kill you with his ult and perma slow bullshit, if he uses ult to go aggro on you, you can burn yours too, and go back onto him after it's on cooldown, however olaf is still a godly duelist at level 6 and this isn't advised unless you have ignite up and know your burst damage is enough to kill with only a few more autos. Fortunately this guy goes OOM pretty fast and is pretty free in lane after that Late game. Don't fuck with him if you're going even, Olaf's lifesteal is REALLY STRONG LATEGAME, if you don't 1 shot him, he'll probably lifesteal through your damage and kill you.
Pantheon
This is probably your hardest counter. Pantheon top's early game damage is crazy. I might even consider starting doran's shield and taking teleport against this guy. Regardless, most pantheon's start flask, and you have a brief window at the very beginning of lane against pantheon, before he gets his aegis up. You need to auto + Q him in this time frame, and hope that he goes all in, you win an all in at level 1 if he goes flask... if you can't cheese him with this, don't fuck with him at level 2, you'll probably get stunned, eat some spears, and die. Ask for ganks, don't push lane, pray for more ganks, farm with bola, pray for ganks. That's pretty much all you can do in this lane. You should get 5 potions when you recall unless you are super ahead. If you don't feed early game, you should be able to fight him, or at least trade with him once you get your triple doran's. Don't fight him after he gets Brutalizer. Late game you might be able to fight him if you're ahead and have lifesteal, but a full damage pantheon might be able to 1 shot you with a full combo. Also ping when he goes base anytime post 6, as he will probably try to ult mid lane when he comes back. Your late game teamfighting is better than his though, as he needs to build tanky if he wants to ult into a teamfight, while you can use your ult to get to carries and then run out of the fight.
Poppy
Err... so don't ask why I know this, but she wins an all in level 1 even if she starts flask Q.Q Her trading is better than yours, and she counters full damage champions with her passive. Try to auto Q her and run away before she can use her Q on you, your Q's cooldown is 2 seconds shorter than hers at level 1, so you can do auto + Q and then do it again as soon as it comes off cooldown. Your level 2 cheese will probably fail because of poppy's passive, but it might buy you some lane dominance for a while. Wait until you have 3 doran's to fight her, and run away from her during her ult. Don't stand near walls if you don't want to die. Pay attention to paragon of demacia, if she has full stacks of it you shouldn't go for a trade. Late game if you're both full build you can't 1v1 her, as her passive's damage reduction and her ults' damage amplification will completely fuck you over. You're more useful in teamfights usually
Mordekaiser
Out trades you hard, no mobility ask for ganks. Try to trade with him at the beginning of lane before he gets his shield up, and then play passively and wait for him to miss his E before going in for a trade. Your level 2 cheese should work but Mordekaiser can shove lane a lot harder than you, so he can hit level 2 before you if he wants. Late game he probably can 1 shot you with a full combo and ignite, he can't really stick on you though unless he has a Rylai's or stupidly high movespeed. I want to think that a full build rengar can 1v1 a full build Mordekaiaer, but you might die afterwards.
Quinn
This matchup is frustrating because of her blind, and her ability to jump away from you. If you want to trade with Quinn, you need to dodge her Q, and then go in afterwards. If she randomly uses Vault on you in lane, you should jump on her right away and get as much damage as possible. Getting pushed under tower is annoying and you take a ton of damage is you're marked by her passive. At level 6 if you miss bola she'll get away with her ult. Very strong vs Rengar, in late game teamfights you should assassinate the actual ADC due to Quinn's excellent escape potential.
Renekton
You can level 1 all in Renekton if you run into him in a brush, but his laning is MUCH better than yours, if he misses his Cull the Meek, go onto him for an auto Q, if you can push the wave somehow and hit level 2 first, go for it, but he should be able to stop your push and hit level 2 first. He outsustains you hard in lane though, so don't get hit by his Q if you can avoid it, also stay out of dash range if he is close to 50 rage because his full combo will chunk you by about half your HP at level 6 try to bait out his ult, if he gets on top of you with his ult you can use yours and wait out the duration of his ult and try to go back onto him afterwards with the additional fury you get from your ult you can try to go onto him. Most of his cooldowns will be up by this time though so that's kind of risky. Late game you outscale him pretty hard though, if you take out one of their carries and get out alive you've already done more than Renekton can assuming your team has half decent peel.
Riven
auto Q her when she goes for one of your creeps, run back into your creeps, auto attack her each time she autos you as you kite back, after the 3rd q you should have gone almost even with her in the trade, now you're going to auto + Q her as soon as it's up, and then auto + q her again and go for a kill, you should be able to do this before level 2 and get first blood every time. If you fuck this up or riven outplays you somehow, you're kinda screwed because riven snowballs super hard. Most riven's are cocky as hell and won't buy boots, so ask for ganks and try to press for an advantage that way. Riven can split push better than you, but with the new tower mechanics it's super hard for her to dive you now, so you're a lot safer late game if you do fall behind and you're the one stopping her split push.
Rumble
You out trade him at level 1 if you don't take the full duration of his flamespitter, auto + Q him each time it's up, and try to push lane a little harder than usual, at level 2 you should have no trouble cheesing him, but he can push hard at level 1, however if he's using flamesplitter to push you can trade on him a lot easier and possibly just kill him at level 1. At level 6 a smart Rumble will ult on top of himself when you go onto him, and it might be necessary to flash out of his Equalizer and position yourself to kill him afterwards. If rumble gets a lead he is SUPER hard to deal with as he can literally just run up to you and kill you. Later in the game he gets tanky and is harder to chase down because of Scrap Shield helping him dodge bola. His early game ability to contest objectives is unmatched, and you need to be sure that your team is not grouped up in jungle choke points near dragon/baron
Ryze
Since the nerfs, if you take flat MR glyphs, his early game damage is a joke, and you should be going for auto+ Q every time it's off cooldown, if ryze starts mana crystal, you can level 1 cheese him with double q, no need to wait for level 2, if you want to be safe wait for level 2, but ryze is super squishy early game and it's really easy to shut him down. If you get ganked early or something, and you fall behind, you should still try to go aggro with triple doran's, and see if you can out susustain him in lane. Also, feel free to ask for ganks if you fall behind or if Ryze shoves you under tower, he's super easy to gank, and until he gets his core items, it is very unlikely he can 2v1 your jungler and you.
Shen
Try not to eat his Q's on cooldown, use your auto Q whenever he doesn't have his passive up, or used his Q on a minion. Level 2 cheese is possible but shen is tankier than most tops so it probably won't result in a kill unless he is significantly overextended. When he hit's 6, try to keep at least 2-3 ferocity stacks at all times so you can stop him from teleporting to another lane with empowered bola, even if he does teleport, try to get a ton of damage off on him so that your lane can kill him as soon as he gets there. Make sure you push lane as hard as you can each time he teleports to another lane, if you can get a tower that's definitely worth it for your team even if a lane dies or loses a kill.
Shyvana
Weak trading potential since the W nerf, jump on her with auto Q and kite her back into the brush until her W is down, and then use auto Q on her again, while her W is down you should try to push the creeps hard because she can push so much harder than you if she wants level 2 first, if you hit level 2 first you need to land bola to actually do the combo, otherwise she'll just run away and you can't get off your combo. If shyvana gets ahead it's not hard to play passively and farm your lane, as she can't really harass you without shoving to tower, and she really can't harass under tower very hard ganking shyvana past level 4 is a bad idea because she will have a lot of movement speed to escape ganks if she maxed W. Late game she can either split push or teamfight. She is better than you at both of these things, but you're better off trying to assassinate her carries in teamfights than trying to kill her while split pushing, also if she takes teleport you're at a major disadvantage if you're pushing top lane split pushing while they teamfight.
Singed
Easy to win lane, can be hard to win game. Singed will probably give you first blood very easily. You should start off with warding your jungle entrance, whether that's the brush near mid lane outside the blue buff wall, or the brush behind red, and then wait at the blue buff ramp or tribrush respectively. This ensures that Singed won't be able to proxy the first wave, head to lane around 1:40 or so to be sure that you can still get into brush before creeps get to lane. You should have no trouble auto+ Q'ing singed as he walks up to your creeps to poison them all, auto attack him constantly, and try to stayin place more or less to avoid getting repoisoned, after this he'll probably start chugging a flask stack, and go to last hit the creeps now, repeat auto Q, and make sure you push your lane as hard as you can if he's pushing lane so you get level 2 first, if all goes well, he'll be relatively low, wait in a brush as a creep dies and hit level 2, jump on him, double Q + bola, and don't be afraid to flash to get the last hit early, most Singed go ghost so it's definitely worth not taking the risk of him living. Singed will still try to all in you an
Rengar is a champion that was considered very strong in the season 4 jungle, and was lesser known as a hard snowballing top laner with excellent mid game roaming potential. When people see me pick Rengar, I get the question of "why top lane?" well because I suck at jungling, but furthermore, Rengar is a champion that excels at capitalizing on the mistakes of enemy top laners, and if played correctly, can easily win most top lane matchups and scale excellently into mid-late game.
I'm not really anyone special in terms of this game, I started playing on Vi's release, and have been maining top lane ever since I saw Voyboy play Lee Sin top in the LCS. I consider myself a Rengar main, with a background in Lee Sin and Nidalee. I have climbed from Silver 4 to Gold 1 playing almost exclusively Rengar in the last month of season 4, and from Silver 2 to Diamond 5 once season 5 began. I like to think I have a good understanding of this game, but I'm Still learning, and still climbing. I hope you like my guide!
[*] 3x Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage
Some players prefer greater quintessence of armor penetration however it deals less damage at levels 1 and 2 (didn't run calculations for later levels)
[*] 8x Greater Mark of Attack Damage
Again some players prefer greater mark of armor penetration but it's the same story as greater quintessence of armor penetration
[*] 1x Greater Mark of Critical Chance
Can win you a lane if you get lucky, and the two AD that you sacrifice (85 vs 87 at level 1) doesn't hurt your trading potential
[*] 9x Greater Seal of Health
In season 4 they nerfed Greater Seal of Armor, and you actually get MORE effective HP even vs AD champions and AP champions with these runes. The only downside to this is that lifesteal becomes slightly less effective, but that's very negligible
These runes maximize your potential for dueling other champions early game and are by far the best choice for a top lane Rengar.
Upon further testing I have decided that against AD top laners, going Greater Seal of Armor is preferable due to your ability to get more effective HP with potions. It's a somewhat difficult concept to explain, but the jist of it is that if your potion heals for 150 HP, that 150 HP will be worth more HP if you have a higher armor value, the contrary is also true, if you have a lot of HP, 150 HP is relatively lower and will heal you for less.
This is the section on laning! Honestly there are so many tricks to laning with Rengar it is really difficult to cover them all, however there are a few that strike me as the most obvious tricks to discuss. These are the "Auto Q", the "level 2 cheese", and cancelling the bola animation.
The "Auto Q"
The first trick I want to discuss is really simple, I'll refer to it as "auto Q" for the rest of the guide and it's really simple, you simply use the brush to jump on your opponent in lane, and then reset your auto attack with Q. At level 1 this will deal 85 + 85 + 30 ... 200 DAMAGE this ignores armor of course, because I'm bad at math. BUT this is still major damage at level 1, and is why you should ALWAYS use auto + Q instead of just using Q, there are a few exceptions to this that I'll talk about in the matchups section. After you do this you should immediately run back into your creep wave and go back to last hitting. If they chase you into your creep wave to try and trade back, you can easily fight them with the help of your creeps. If players at your elo are bad enough, they sometimes won't even auto attack you in return! Regardless, you should be trying to do this two times at level 1 to ensure your opponent is low enough for a level 2 cheese.
The Level 2 Cheese
Have you ever wondered why lanes will randomly die around between 2:30-2:40 in game? This is the time a solo lane that is pushing will hit level 2. A lot of champions can do this actually, and it's not uncommon for players to try and push early so they can hit level 2 before the other laner. Although many champions can do this, I personally believe that Rengar's level 2 cheese is the strongest in the game. Rengar's level 2 cheese involves getting 3-5 ferocity stacks, and then using a full combo on the enemy laner who has already been chunked substantially. Ryan Choi is a challenger top laner who mains Rengar, and he EXCELS at doing this, even in challenger division.
Skip to 1:49 for early laning
Skip to 1:15 for early laning
Notice how in each of these games, Ryan starts off the game by waiting in the brush closest to the enemy tower and pulling the creep aggro towards the brush, this allows you to jump onto the enemy top laner whenever you want to, as all of the creeps that they will be going to last hit will be in range of the brush. When you are laning now, you should try to stack up your Q on minions while pushing the wave slightly. Your goal early game is to get 3-5 stacks of ferocity, and chunk the enemy top laner slightly. If you go for auto + Qs whenever the other top laner goes for a cs, you should win trades assuming they don't go for you instead of the creep. Regardless, once you hit 4 ferocity, and your EXP bar is near full, you want to auto the creep that is closest to death, and then go to the brush. Right after the creep dies, you want to level up your bola, jump onto the enemy top while throwing bola, and then double Q them, while animation canceling for your auto attack delay, if you've done this correctly they should be in ignite range, if they flash, flash to follow them for the auto ignite finish. Congrats. If you've done this correctly, you just scored first blood. After pushing your wave to their tower you'll hit 3, and you can go back and spend your 650 gold.
Vs Ryze (this is before the rework but the same concept still applies)
(this is before the rework but the same concept still applies)
These are easily the best examples of Ryan doing a level 2 cheese, executed perfectly and does everything I mentioned in the section.
Cancelling the Bola Animation
I mentioned it briefly on the section about level 2 cheesing when I said "jump onto the enemy top while throwing bola". Basically you can throw your bola while you are in mid leap as long as you leave your cursor over the enemy champion, you still have to aim it of course, but this allows you to chase so much easier as you do not need to stop moving your champion to land bola, also if you want to perform a 1-shot on Rengar you need to land this ability mid leap.
1-shotting people is a trick, but I think it deserves it's own section of the guide, so I'm going to leave this section as is, there are a few more tricks I can think of, and I'll explain them if people actually seem to take notice of my guide and want me to write more.
THE 1-SHOT
THE 1-SHOT
Performing a 1 shot with Rengar is a pretty exact science, there are pretty much 4 combos that you use as Rengar, but they all have a few core mechanics.
The "Perfect" 1-shot:
Spoiler: Click to view
I would make a video explaining this, but jksad does it so much better
If somehow that didn't clarify things for you, you can read this article.
For those of you who don't like clicking on links or some ****. The idea is that you should get up 5 stacks of ferocity before you go to ult. Press R once you're in the vision range indicator (this is equal to the range you can chase a target before the ult runs out without your movement speed boosts) run up, activate q, and then ghostblade, once you start your leap, you want to use your bola (remember it's still a skillshot!) and activate the Tiamat active. After you land, you should W and Q and chase them down with your enhanced movement speed and attack damage. This shouldn't be necessary once you're full build, as you can pretty much 1 shot any squishy once you're full build.
The "I hate Corki, Tristana, Vayne (AND PROBABLY KALISTA) Combo":
Spoiler: Click to view
Pretty self-explanatory, this combo is for use against HIGH MOBILITY squishies that can use a gap closer to escape you early game before you can instagib them with the first combo mentioned. Basically you get 5 stacks of ferocity like before, but instead of using empowered Q you use Ghostblade, and then empowered E and tiamat mid jump, and then on landing you use W an auto Q, and then E them before the root runs out so that they are slowed even if they use their escape. For a full build Vayne/Kalista you will want to use this combo so they can't kite you to death.
Basically you didn't have time to get any ferocity stacks up, could be that you're rushing out of base to defend your inhib, whatever it is, you need to kill something even though you don't have any ferocity. It's pretty similar to the perfect combo, however instead of activating your Q before the jump, you want to run up, Ghostblade, E + tiamat, auto Q and W after you land. This combo deals significantly less damage, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
The "I couldn't think of an original name for this combo" combo:
Spoiler: Click to view
This combo is only used if you have exactly 4 stacks of ferocity, and is actually inefficient as it wastes 1 fury because you end up using two abilities and go over 5 stacks of ferocity. Regardless it's the best combo to use at 4 stacks of ferocity. It's literally the perfect combo, but executed with 4 stacks of ferocity, and then you use the empowered Q as your second Q. The reason you do this is because if you were to do the previous combo using the auto reset, you'd actually end up having to use empowered Q, which has a .5 second delay, as Rengar cannot use empowered abilities for .5 seconds after gaining his 5th stack of ferocity. So this combo looks like:
These are all of the variations to Rengar's assassination combos that I can think of, if I've missed something, please let me know!
After Laning Phase (Mid-Game)
After Laning Phase (Mid-Game)
Your ultimate goal in laning phase should ultimately be to take the opposing laner's tower, and push the other laners creeps to the second tower.
One of three things will happen now:
-An enemy champion will come top lane to catch the wave
-You will get ganked by the enemy jungler as the top lane comes back
-Other team will try to force dragon as a 4v5 while you are top
No matter what happens, start pinging the **** out of dragon, you're going to draw pressure top lane no matter what, and this should be a free dragon or free tower for your team.
In each of these situations, you and your team can capitalize on your push. Let's say an enemy champion comes top. Can I tower dive this champion? Is this champion crucial to the other team's 5v5 potential? Does this champion have teleport? If you can tower dive the person who comes to stop you, back off like you're recalling, and press R, if you don't see anyone else near you with ult you have free reign to tower dive them. If you do see another champion heading towards you, it means you're getting ganked. You can easily escape the gank by ulting and running back down lane, or if you want to try something ballsy, pick the squishier of the two, and try to 1 shot them. If you're successful, you'll probably still be healthy enough to 1v1 the other champion, and force them to back off or just try to hold tower against you. If you get a double kill, back off immidiately and make sure your team gets a dragon with the 4v3, if you die, ping your team to get the dragon with the 4v3. With the pressure you're drawing top lane you should be able to capitalize in some way, shape, or form. If the enemy team tries to force dragon 4v5, you should take the tower, and then roam to dragon, assuming your team fought, you can probably pick up a kill or two, and if they stalled, you can probably fight 5v5 now that you are grouped.
Aside from split pushing, Rengar can also gank bot as soon as he gets his tower in lane. You can try to do this right at level 6, however this is very risky as if you don't get kills in the gank, you will lose your tower top lane for free, and fall behind in lane. On the bright side, a successful level 6 gank bot can put your bot lane significantly ahead, get your team a free tower bot lane, AND DRAGON. Sometimes it is worth the risk if you feel as though you're ahead enough top lane and your team needs your help.
