Gangplank Build Guide by Khazem

Overall I like this guide, very good layout and BBCoding, jhoijhoi's Making a Guide helps so much aye. x3

What I find strange though, is that in your "default" item build, you have placed Atma's Impaler before Warmog's Armor, was this intentional for a particular reason? I always think it is better to get it afterwards because then the AD increase is a lot higher straight off the bat.

I know that your "default build" isn't reliable in a sense because you say that every game is different, so you will be building different just in-case you throw that statement my way.

If you possibly added some "Completed builds" for examples as to what would work best in certain situations, it's not a bad idea for new players to LoL, considering you have a lot of options and may cause confusion. But that's just my thought on it.

I'd love to hear what you think.

The build order in the cheat sheet is indeed intentional and I do indeed often buy Atma's Impaler before Warmog's Armor. With just 2 Doran's Blades and a Phage you already have enough health to make the purchase worth it (champions who benefit from the crit make Atma's cost efficient from around 1800 health), it also offers some nice armor which is very useful to get early on against many top laners.

Though I have to admit I've recently stopped building Warmog's Armor alltogether on Gangplank and built a Frozen Mallet instead, in which case you build the Atma's Impaler afterwards. I will clarify this in the guide as soon as I play some more games with this build.

I find myself becoming very strong after I've built my Warmog's Armor and Atma's Impaler, which is usually in mid-game, by that point survivability becomes more important than it was early-game, because I can find myself farm fairly easily in the first few levels with not much health.

It also makes me much more reliable in team-fights, instead of running and and getting 1 or 2 hits in, then being focused down to 0 health in a few seconds.

I agree that Frozen Mallet is good + dat slow, but when I made some adjustments to my own build, I found it much more effective cost-wise, and it doesn't leave me with any gaps in strength at any point in the match. I haven't been able to discuss the Pirate much, so I'm quite thrilled talking about this. :3

Nice and well-thought guide. What should I say about this, it's just very nice. Everything is good (item choice (especially eg choice and boots 4pot shows you know how to play), runes, masteries, explanations) perfect :) sad it's not the best gp guide on mobafire it's much better than the 90% guide by Balrox Says Hi which is just a low game glass-cannon guide, high-rated by n00bs who don't get focused in low-elo games :)

Hey Khazem, I see you've made some changes, but there are some things that really urked me that I would like to comment on here if that's ok.


Change is good, but is it for the better? Your build is different yes, but some things show here that I need to point out:

Cheatsheet

• Waiting around for a 4th Health Potion is unreliable, especially if you are needed to help defend or invade the jungle, and you can't do that while at the fountain.
• A Last Whisper should always be an optional item for the purpose of high armor teams, I would recommend a replacement for it, Last Whisper is very situational.
• I am very doubtful about the Infinity Edge. The AD and extra crit damage is nice, but the UNIQUE Passive will not be very beneficial for a build that has only 25% crit chance, which is only obtained from the Infinity Edge. Something that does not focus around crit would be more reasonable.
• Or, you can make adjustments entirely, to fit in a "Crit" build, (which is very commonly used might I add). Just make sure you have the best reason for why you are picking an item, they need to synergise with eachother.

Runes
- In the Recommended Runes, show only the ones that you use the majority of the time, or that you would suggest, that way you can organize your Runes chapter a little better too, and have optional runes.

Masteries
- As for your masteries. I disagree with the one point into Butcher . You could be using that point for Summoner's Wrath to give you a boost in damage after using Ignite or for an empowered Exhaust. Also, add an alternative.

Pros / Cons
- The text on your Pros / Cons needs to be adjusted so that the image is in the center, (or at least close).

Items
- Although you say every match can be different, having a general order for your Items chapter would be a bit easier for newer people.

Ideally, you'll always want to look at starting with 4 health potions rather than 3, but you're right, sometimes you'll have to help your jungler/team at level 1. I actually mention this in the gameplay section (making sure to tell people NOT to wait for that potion when they need you at level 1)



Usually, at that point in the game, the enemy team will always have armor. I have literally not seen a single game recently where buying a Last Whisper at 30-35 minutes was not effective. I strongly disagree with it being situational. (it basically becomes a good buy once 2-3 enemies get over 100 armor)



Meh, I suppose it is more of a luxury item for when you've got enough gold, I guess I should mention that somewhere.




I literally use a different runeset nearly every game, so there is not specific runepage I could tell people to use. Instead, I strongly encourage people to think about what runes to use and use them to counter your opponent if possible. I list all the viable runes, explain when each one should be used to hopefully make people understand the concept of counterbuilding.

I should have been a bit more specific about it then. This item should really only be used by your Ranged AD Carry, because they need maximum damage, you don't need it as much. You want Gangplank to do good damage, but it's not your main priority. Also, most people easily reach 100 armor by 30 minutes except for Ranged AD and Mages.. But you don't see everyone stacking Last Whisper.



I understand what you mean, but some like to be "guided", which is why they come here. If you throw too many options their way, they might still not know, and could likely ask you "What do you use?" "What's good overall?" You know.. those new people always need to be guided.



You need to break it down, less text, which is why it's doing that. Also feel free to take a look at mine if you want. It took me a little while to get it just right.



Having an explanation for it is good, saying something like - "I grab Item next because it gives such and such." People like that too. Or they may doubt your cheatsheet.
