Sometimes abyssal is better if you play for example against Karthus, as to compensate more his ult it is necessary to gain some additional AP. And as for building a tanky Soraka, sometimes is is better to buy additional wards or AP items as if you play safely and can avoid attacks they will not kill you, and if they have caught no banshee will help as Soraka is squishy

Mana regen is good on Soraka every since that ****ing nerf...

Why are you taking mana regen on soraka, you're leveling up her infuse first, it would be so much better to take ap per level or magic resist/per level

Question: Does Greater Quintessence of Avarice work for Soraka? With the starting items as described in your guide it seems to take me a while to get Philosopher's Stone and I was wondering how much faster it would be if I used those Quints.

This build is very similar as mine, but I got Rylai and if my Mages need, I get Abyssal for them. More burst, AP, Magic Resist...
