Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Pretty Simple enough build. This is my first build on the site and so this "guide" wont be very good. I just want to get my build out there. If you understand how to use Nocturne then this build will work for you.
I chose the Runes because early game the 35% bonus to critical damage with a little attack power is just insane early game. Not to mention that with the masteries your total bonus critical damage is actually at 45% at the start of the game. Thats just 5% shy of basically having a Infinity Edge!
The masteries are point blank and simple. Just pure offence and a little utility for the extra xp boost. A alternative is going into defense for the extra armor and magic resist.
At level 1 you will have a 35% bonus crit damage. This is insane with Nocturne even with a low crit strike rating. Get the boots for a simple movement and attack speed increase. A early Infinity Edge is good due to having a total of 285% bonus crit dmg total at around level 8 - 10 depending on how you play. Get a phantom dancer next for the extra attack speed and bonus to crit strike rating. Then get 2 bloodthirster's for the lifesteal and extra dmg. If you take the time and kill minions and neutral monsters after getting both Bloodthirster's to get the max effect out of them you will be hard to kill. I have tanked 3 people and gotten my AOE autto attack and get back to full health and killed all 3 people on me several times. If your not concerned about having the 80% crit at the end of the game and losing the extra attack speed (since Nocturne's 2nd ability is insane anyways and the attack speed shouldn't really be needed) you can substitute it for an item of your choosing. I prefer to keep it for the crit and replace the Berserker's Greaves for a Frozen Mallet. Its slowing effect with Nocturnes movement / attack speed overpower and just own people. Even if it's a tank your attacking that should normally own you, your attack speed with 80% crits and 50% lifesteal just owns them! Also if you really want more lifesteal you can get rid of the Berserker's Greaves for a third Bloodthirster for a total of 75% lifesteal (A bit overkill in my opinion though).
The skill order is pretty easy to explain. Duskbringer is good to help take out minions and also have a ranged attack against enemy champions. You can easily use Duskbringer to harass enemies during early game, just dont overdo it or you will run out of mana. Grab Unspeakable Horror at level 2 mainly for its fear. Its amazing how much your fear effect will mess a enemy up if they are chasing you to your turret and you use it. Most cases they wont back off and the turret will kill them and give you a free kill. Get Shroud of Darkness at level 3 for the extra attack speed. This allows you to go for the Infinity Edge first instead of a Phantom Dancer. Then just alternate between Duskbringer and Unspeakable Horror every lvl picking up your Ult when you can along the way. Between the Berserker's Greaves and the first Phantom dancer you shouldn't need any more points in Shroud of Darkness until you have to put them into it at the end of the game.
I chose heal and flash. I use heal a lot in early game because I usually don't buy health potions. It's also nice when turret diving and you can last just long enough in the turret to kill your enemy and flash away. You can substitute heal if you want, it just better suits my play style. I've tried Ghost with flash and also teleport with flash. Both had useful traits to various situations but as I said, heal just suits my play style.
Pros / Cons
-High attack Damage
-High Critical Strike rating and dmg
-Effective against tanks late game
-Not to effective Vs. tanks early game
Early game tanks can cause problems but if your playing with a friend or good team mates they shouldn't cause any real problem. Late game you CAN actually take 3 people on but that is actually risky and you should take into consideration as to who your fighting (in other words think about what stuns, silences, knock-backs, fears, etc they have available).
Hope this guide wasn't to bad. Obviously doesn't go as in depth as other guides I've seen. Like I said earlier, I just wanted to get my build out there!
