How to build with greatest success.
This build is best set for starting middle. Lux is my main champion. Start by Getting boots, 3 potions. Use the movement to more around the map to dodge attacks. Make sure you farm correctly by getting last hit of minions to receive the gold. Do not auto attack minions down instead let minions attack until there low enough to kill and receive gold. The clarity and tele are used for out sustaining the enemy champion. (Use recall and tele in combination at any point to regain your heath and mana. I usually use clarity and use all mana up before recalling and then teleport with full hp and mana). I usually lower enemy champ by using singularity followed by base attack. If you can stare enemy first follow with base hit then cast singularity followed by a base attack and it will do maximum damage. Lux's special ability makes her deal more damage then most other champions. Next before level 6 if you farm correctly you should have near 860gold to purchase blasting wand. However before you go back to purchase try to get kill middle enemy champ with your ult once you reach level 6. Once back for first time if your doing well get blasting wand. If your enemy at mid recalls as well which usually happens, walk back to the turret instead of tele, but tele if you need to. Next continue to farm in mid lane and kill middle enemy if possible. However since you have tele as an option look around the map at top and bottom lanes and see if you can tele and get a kill with you ult. If you do this it will help with getting gold faster. Resume farming mid push hard continue with item purchase build. Once you take out middle turret go to either bot or top depending on what lanes needs help and what lane has fewer champs/lower health champions/still has a turret. Follow the build and you should be carrying your team.
Story of Lux
"Born to the prestigious Crownguards, the paragon family of Demacian service, Luxanna was destined for greatness. She grew up as the family’s only daughter, and she immediately took to the advanced education and lavish parties required of families as high profile as the Crownguards. As Lux matured, it became clear that she was extraordinarily gifted. She could play tricks that made people believe they had seen things that did not actually exist. She could also hide in plain sight. Somehow, she was able to reverse engineer arcane magical spells after seeing them cast only once. She was hailed as a prodigy, drawing the affections of the Demacian government, military, and citizens alike.
As one of the youngest women to be tested by the College of Magic, she was discovered to possess a unique command over the powers of light. The young Lux viewed this as a great gift, something for her to embrace and use in the name of good. Realizing her unique skills, the Demacian military recruited and trained her in covert operations. She quickly became renowned for her daring achievements; the most dangerous of which found her deep in the chambers of the Noxian High Command. She extracted valuable inside information about the Noxus-Ionian conflict, earning her great favor with Demacians and Ionians alike. However, reconnaissance and surveillance was not for her. A light of her people, Lux's true calling was the League of Legends, where she could follow in her brother’s footsteps and unleash her gifts as an inspiration for all of Demacia." - http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Lux_the_Lady_of_Luminosity/Background
Illumination (Innate): Lux's damaging spells charge the enemies hit with energy for 6 seconds. Lux's next attack will ignite the energy, dealing 10 + (10 x level) magic damage to the target.

When battling in team fights
STAY IN THE BACK!
Lux's spells have a long range, and therefore she has no business being on the front lines. Try to keep your shields up on the player on your team being heavily focused throughout the fight, a lot of times Lux's will use it at the start and not really remember to use it as the fight progresses. While the shield may seem like a minimal aid, if you line it up properly it can shield quite a bit. Assuming rank 5, with 300 AP (generally half of what I end up with in games...), if you hit all 5 teammates twice: 5 x (160 + 90) x 2 = 2500 damage absorbed, with one throw. Pretty impressive, even if it is the extreme case.
Obviously, it is important to line up your laser on as many enemies as possible for maximum damage. I'll try to land a [skills/lux/q.png] on a couple champions first and follow it up with a laser to ignite the charges placed on them. When wondering when to use it, try to wait until they all line up in a narrow area or after an Amumu / Malphite ultimate when they can't really disperse.
Garen Brother of Lux
Throughout Valoran, the resolve of Demacia's military is alternately celebrated or despised, but always respected. Their "zero tolerance" moral code is strictly upheld by civilians and soldiers alike. In combat, this means Demacian troops may not make excuses, flee, or surrender by example. Garen, the valiant warrior who bears the title "the Might of Demacia", is the paradigm to which these leaders are compared. Thousands of great heroes have risen and fallen on the bloody battlefields between Demacia and its preeminent rival, Noxus. It was beneath their mighty banners of war that Garen first met steel with Katarina, the Sinister Blade. The infantrymen who beheld this event (and survived) commented that it seemed as though the two were locked in a mortal waltz set against a symphony of clashing blades.
Garen, the pride of the Demacian military and the leader of the Dauntless Vanguard, returned from this battle breathless for the first time in his career, though some speculate this was due to reasons other than exhaustion. The plausibility of these rumors was bolstered when, in every instance thereafter, Garen seized the opportunity to encounter the Sinister Blade again. A paragon of Demacian ethic, Garen never entertained such allegations, for he knew others couldn't understand. Even simply the pursuit of a worthy opponent on the battlefield is, to a true warrior, the reason to rise each morning. The promise of one, particularly one so beautifully and diametrically opposed, is the validation of his existence.
"The most effective way to kill an opponent is to slice through the man next to him."
Garen, on front line strategy.
