Introduction

What's up summoners! My name is CriticalMcS and welcome to my Tryndamere guide!
This guide will show you my new way of playing a more sustainable way of Tryndamere. Please give it a wise rating, and at least try it before giving it critism. I would love to recieve feedback and hear from you!

Tryndamere is a fantastic champion, with his high damage you can easily kill enemy champions, but I am not aimed to feed Tryndamere with Phantom Dancers and Armor Pen. items. No, I will play him Tanky. You might say that I'm crazy now. It's okay, but at least watch. Tryndamere before Season One and in the start was called a tank. Okay, so players might not have seen this, but I thought: "Why not bring tank Tryndamere back but still keep his damage on the ground?" This is why I made this build and guide to show you Tanky DPS Tryndamere.

Summoner Spells

Exhaust and Ghost
Exhaust: Your personal CC'er. You will survive the most siturations with Exhaust.

Tips:
  • Use it whenever dueling and you are almost dying.
  • Chasing and escaping is key.
  • Use it smart, tell your teammate when you Exhaust the target.

Ghost: This is your most common escape tool, it provides an easy kill when used right.

Tips:
  • Ghost ignores collision with minions, so you don't have to worry going around them to hunt champions down.
  • To perform a good escape, use this method: Use Spinning Slash through a wall and toggle Ghost, if they follow you, juke them in the brush and use Mocking Shout.

Viable Summoner Spells

Heal: This is good for beginners and for escaping. A combo with Bloodlust can get you back up and running.

Teleport: Only viable when soloing. Good to replendish health and get items. Late game, you can backdoor.

Cleanse: If you feel too CC'ed in game, Cleanse is a choice you should consider.

Ignite: Securing first bloods and easy escapes. Ignite is good too when just using Undying Rage through a turret.

Abilities

Battle Fury - Gives critical strike chance on Fury. This is key to damage and survivability. If your Fury is full, you are sustainable and a high critical problem. Gain Fury on hitting non-turret targets.

Bloodlust - Heals you for a base amount and for your current Fury. Focus on maxing this first, the heal is very useful whenever soloing top. Remember to get Fury to maximize the ability's power.

Tips n Tricks

- Bloodlust at 100 Fury is beasty
-After Undying Rage, you have some Fury to use after a tower dive or team fight.

Mocking Shout - Decreases enemies attack damage and slowing them. Here is your slower nor exhauster. Use it when chasing down enemies or competing in a team fight.

Tips n Tricks

-The damage is reduced in a radius, see how large it is by hovering your cursor over the icon.
-The slow only works when your enemies are not facing you. You'll know when a chicken is above their head.
-Activate whenever a teamfight starts.
-If a teammate is ganked by max. 3 persons, Mocking Shout will save him. (If they are AD)

Spinning Slash - Spinning to a location, dealing attack damage on it's path. This ability can save a kill or a death. Always remember to have it ready and use it wise. The damage is low enough to let you keep it at level 1.

Tips n Tricks

-A combo with Mocking Shout may secure a kill.
- Spinning Slash can get through walls.

Undying Rage - On active, Tryndamere refuses to get below 1 health for a short time. Your life saver. the cooldown is fair enough, but it's the Fury that counts. You only have 5 seconds to kill people and escape. Use the Fury afterwards.

Tips n Tricks

- Undying Rage lasts 5 seconds, watch duration above the ability icons.
- Undying Rage gives 50-100 Fury.
*Agressive: Use the extra Fury to give critical strikes to your enemies.
*Defensive: A combo with Spinning Slash and Bloodlust can save your life.
-ONLY use Bloodlust on the last half second.
-You can tower dive for a kill if lucky enough.

Starting Items

: This is a great starting item, especially when you are a dps'er. The extra health and damage will make you into a bully in lane. The lifesteal is a great helper when on low health. If you are being lacked down in lane, consider buying an other Doran's Blade or a Doran's Shield for extra sustain and pushing.

: Every tank dream of becoming the most unstoppable champion in game. And well, this guide is faced as being tanky. The armor and health per 5 bonus is great when you are losing your lane and you are being auto-attacked by a carry. Beginners to Tryndamere should try this instead of Doran's Blade, but if you feel too weak, just get a Doran's Blade or start rushing Madred's Razors.

: Harassment, harassment, harassment. The shoes makes it easier to catch up your enemies and make a brutal attack. The pots are for some nice sustain from the sideline. It's often good to buy pots whenever you have a bit of gold left to spend.

Core Items

Mercury's Treads: Your other items don't have magic resist, unless you are using some of the situtional items. These boots can save some health by casters and maybe get you out of a gank quicker. Standard choice for tanks.

Bloodthirster: Wriggles Lantern isn't giving you damage. In fact it does not help you very much. Tryndamere have a lot of damage, and he need to use it. Bloodthirster mid game is really helpful. The lifesteal passive is enough to survive an enemy attack. Just remember to stack it up.

Phantom Dancer: Utility item number 1. Mid game you are slow, that can be fixed with 55% attack speed and 15 movement speed. You have seen the Infinity Edge part, with critical chance and stuff. This can be a step forward to give you all the damage you need. Do I really need to say more?

Warmog's Armor: This brings the tanky part. A warmog's is enough to keep you alive, and help you in ganks. Remember to farm minions when having this equipped.

Atma's Impaler: Combined with Warmog's Armor, you get 2% of your max health as AD. A great item to consider as a tanky dps. But how much is 2%? Let's do some maths.
Let's say you have for an example 3.200 hp. 2 percent of that.
2 / 100 x 3200 = 64 extra AD.

Frozen Mallet: Ending item. Health, damage and slowing passive. The passive is good against ranged AD carries there are fleeing. You should be both sustainable and bursty when you have this item.

Situtional Items

Heart of Gold: This is good when you are soloing top or losing a lane, it helps you get more survivability and gold.. Replace with Wriggle's Lantern or your extra Doran item.

The Brutalizer: If the enemy team gets away barely dead, you can get help by this item. The cooldown reduction and armor pen. will not leave a single player alive.
Buy it after Wriggle's Lantern.

Infinity Edge: Tryndamere has no buffed critical damage without this. This can be an alternative instead of Bloodthirster. I have seen some people complain about this item, in cause of the needed lifesteal, so consider this choice.
Change with Bloodthirster.

Doran's Blade: Yes, another blade. You see, this can save you in some siturations as well as giving you some extra damage. Just like casters, they almost need an other Doran's Ring to keep up the damage.
Buy it after your starting item, or Boots.

Randuin's Omen: Slowing abilities, health, armor, hp5 and cooldown. Also great when having Atma's Impaler.
Replace with Frozen Mallet.

Trinity Force: A well balanced item.
Replace with Phantom Dancer or Frozen Mallet.

Guardian Angel: To stop you from dying, as well as giving you some survivability.
Replace with Frozen Mallet.

Madred's Bloodrazor: If high health champions (tanks, Vladimir) stack up, this is their fear.
Don't buy lifesteal ( Wriggle's Lantern) keep the Razors. Replace with Phantom Dancer and buy Recurve Bow first.

Quicksilver Sash: Your Cleanse in an item.
Build it two ways:
1. Going full damage Tryndamere and buy after Phantom Dancer.
2. Buy Negatron Cloak after B. F. Sword and buy when building Zeal. Sell for Frozen Mallet.

I will add more later on.
