Introduction

Hello everybody, I'm Jquoerlix and in this guide I will be taking you through AP Leona mid. Yes, AP Leona mid. I realise that this is a very uncommon pick, some may go as far as saying a troll pick, but please hear me out.

As a very unexpected pick, comes the element of surprise. Playing AP Leona mid means that most of the time, your opponents will have now idea what to expect in terms of your combos, damage, you get the idea. And, equally importantly, they probably won't know how to play against, or counter you.

First of all, you are probably wondering why anyone would play Leona mid-lane as an AP Carry. Apart from the fact that all her abilities scale AP, Leona's kit offers a huge amount of CC that very few champions would be able to match. All of Leona's abilities either have a slow or stun.

Some people might play Leona as an AP offtank, but personally I prefer a more offensive-centred path, to be able to dish out as much damage as I can. You'll be able to easily pick of a squishy lane opponent or the enemy's ADC.

So please read my guide, and give an upvote if you liked it. Now read on.

Pros / Cons

Pros

Cons

Queen of Crowd Control
Lorem ipsum dolor sit
Stay In The Fight!
Gangplank has no ability that helps him escape. Often, this means that Flash is the option. This lack of escape mechanism will often be a large disadvantage against champions with good chasing potential, for example Wukong or Riven.
Boom!
Lorem ipsum dolor sit
Gimme Time To Prepare!
It does take time to set up Gangplank's powerful Powder Kegs and reach full combat potential. This means that Gangplank may lose over time against up-in-your-face champions who excel in close combat, for example Nasus or Darius.
Rally to Me
With a heal and CC remove ability - Remove Scurvy, Gangplank is as slippery as a fish. Basically a Quicksilver Sash with a heal and shorter cooldown, Gangplank is very hard to kill unless facing good sustained damage.
Come Closer, And Die!
To be blunt, Gangplank is a melee champion. Meaning he will always be disadvantaged when paired up against a ranged champion who has good sustained damage and can kite reasonably well, for example Teemo or Gnar.
