Sorbique, any answers to my post about the uselessness of Catalyst in regard to GP10 ?

Yes hello, I just had a game with 4 friends and I tried out the 2 GP10 items, it worked quite well since i was mainly warding everything. I build HoG into RO and sold the philo, so I think that I'll include the 2 early GP10 items in the guide when I have the time.

Thanks for your suggestions,

Sorbique

Really dont like this build that much. It cripples your early pretty hard (you wont deal that much dmg with 2 Dorans + Catalyst unless u get if after like 5 minutes) and it leaves u pretty squishy for a very long time aswell (RoA doesnt make u really tanky). I tried Rod on her... and thou I really like the mana part (she runs oom so quickly ~o~), I really dont like the item itself.
Then with even Merc Treads, u will have like no penetration and nearly every person in the enemy team will cripple your dmg by 30-50% and prolly even more.
Considering ure playing in a "normal" (not normal in terms of 300 elo normal draft, normal in terms of standard), it will most likely take you like at least 25-30 minutes to get that RoA + Rabadon build running - and by that time u still dont have any tankyness at all and your dmg is only ok-ish (at that point of the game, if you cant oneshot people as Diana youre pretty much screwed).
Then, Nashors Tooth as third big item. Your build, already now, cost you 1.5k+1k+3k+3.6k= and thats a pretty sick amount for a jungler. But you still want to buy another non-MPen item at that point. Nashors Tooths AS is nothing at that point of the game - it will boost you from 1.1 to like 1.3 AS, you wont survive long enough to feel that and you dont burst hard enough to not rely on your passive dmg. The CDR is great on her, but this comes really late, and it actually doesnt give that much AP.
Realistically u should never reach Void Staff if youre not totally pubstomping.

Imo, your build is way to expensive and doesnt fit Diana well.

Excellent guide!!! If you're feeling particularly assassin-y, I find boots of swiftness + lich bain immediately before or after rab is amazing. It makes ganks and chasing work like clockwork. Also, and this is just personal preference, I take ignite over smite (whilst still running boots). Her shield and burst is so strong that you can both start your jungle strong without smite + you don't really need to be worrying about ensuring a dragon kill. Of course, smite is always nice if you are going to be pulling off some fun counter jungling.

Edit: I want to add, similarly to the post below me, that this is an expensive build. I currently sit at around a 90% win rate with Diana jungle...and even when I'm just stomping the other team I only usually can build about three items total (usually Rabs, Lich, and giants belt for a potential Rylai's). When I do go RoA it does give some nice sustain but for a large and unruly cost. I do not think atk speed items should be bought to take advantage of her passive...it's just not worth the cost in gold or cost of a better more effective item.

I do understand your point, but I prefer an early RoA, the reason I get this item early is because it allows me to dive early game and because of it's passive it gives me quite a lot AP, health and mana lategame. Because this passive stacks every minute I try to get it as early as possible so that it's fully stacked in mid game.

I did try philosophers stone as a first item but I really missed the quick catalyst because I couldn't dive early game. Also do keep in mind that GP/10 items only pay themselves back after ~20 minutes and that is if you do sell the item. So I thought, why buy something for 800 gold that you'll sell anyway.

Anyway these are my thoughts, thanks for your comment.

Well, to give you an idea, HoG + Philo costs about 300 more gold than a Catalyst for the same amount of sustain. You get about 100 less HP, that's all. However, you gain 10GP10 ; after 20 minutes, you've effectively earned 1200 gold thanks to them and since you're not building RoA, your other items are MUCH quicker (1400 less gold to pay and you earn more gold). You'll never sell them before getting your 4th item which shouldn't happen before the 40 minutes mark if you're not too fed. That means between 20 and 35 minutes for each item, we'll say 1600 gold average. Without selling them, you've already gotten back their cost aand enjoyed the sustain they give for free. And you haven't commited to RoA whose mana you don't really need, leaving an item slot free for another item.

If you really miss the tankiness, you can just start building Rylai right after HoG + Philo with a Giant's Belt, you'll be as tanky as your RoA for the same price (+630 HP for that compared to +680 for a fully stacked RoA which shouldn't be the case, 2760g compared to roughly 3100). Except you'll get 2GP10 and another item slot + quicker item afterwards. Besides, building Rylai as a first real item will make your mid game ganks really threatening since you'll finish it by the 25 minutes mark, meaning any target you hit is dead.

I can't see how a Catalyst path is better when you're a jungler, really. The passive is wasted since Philo gives you enough mana and your shield protects you from HP loss (even then, you have Philo's HP regen). And without its passive, Catalyst is useless since its raw stats are comparable to HoG.

Just one suggestion : try building Philo and Kage/HoG instead of an early Catalyst. It allows you to get something else instead of commiting into RoA (earlier Rylai ? Rabadon's ?), gives you gold to help even more with your natural jungle farm and Philo provides you enough sustain instead of RNoA IMO. I think you're in a better situation with 2 GP10 rather than a Catalystn especially if you're a jungler.

Your thoughts ?
