Summary

Iain “Harrow” Hendry (designer criativo associado)
Kienan “Knockmaw” Lafferty (artista 2D associado)

NinjaChewyKun: A lua ajuda a enfatizar a personalidade dela: distante e fria.

Ninguém estava investido tão a fundo.

Version in English
The inspiration behind the art design of a Champion comes from several places: game mechanics, personalities Champions or a walk in the countryside, for example. Sometimes, new champions are even inspired by plots from other Champions, and this was the example of Diana, the Moon's Scorn As his artistic motif is a tribute to the moon, of course, the art was even more influenced by their relationship with Leona and its transformative effect on her personality. The artists, animators, sound designers and designers of creation viewed Diana as a character long before they understand with the Champion we see today. Some of them met to discuss the origins and evolution of art, history and sound of Diana.

Iain "Harrow" Hendry (associate creative designer)
Kienan "Knockmaw" Lafferty (2D associate artist)
Alex "CaptainLx" Lehmann (senior animator)
Mike "IronStylus" Maurino (senior concept artist)
Oscar "shadowMacuahuitl" Monteon (character artist)
Adam "BelligerentSwan" Swanson (associate sound designer)
Christina "NinjaChewyKun" Wun (visual effects artist)

Where Diana started?

IronStylus: We wanted to create a Champion who was a rival for Leona, but could not establish how this character would be. Then try some interactions and we could not avoid creating a character who seemed to Riven or a woman in armor. It has been under development in this way for about one year. Then one day I was watching an anime and saw a character who seemed to be the right archetype: a slender girl of oriental features, wearing heavy armor and detonating the left and right. This is a popular cliche, and there is something that we have in our game. She must be a very fierce persoangem without showing much emotion. From the beginning, we had a very clear idea of what she was and it gave us a chance to focus more on fun and translation.

As history and relationship with Leona and Diana Solari affected the art?

IronStylus: I think we have included more and more in the Champions to give more variety. With the teaser image and we show two pieces of their history and past. We did a two-page comic of its origin and the result of their ancestry. We use all of our arsenal to tell a story. She is a character that is connected to the other character, but is also self-sufficient. If there are two characters who have a movie, would be Leona and Diana. They are so ideologically opposed. Leona and Diana are mortal enemies. Leona used to create much of Diana, as they are diametrically opposed characters. Both characters are modest. They are well covered, yet engaging and seductive in a different way. She is intentionally covered more possible but still sexy and strong. She has a silhouette different from other champions and moves differently with movements like something between Akali and Tryndamere. She spends an air of murder, but the sword gives more weight. It is interesting from every angle of the game.

Harrow is a conflict so subtle. They do not hate each other forever, actually.

IronStylus: We could not establish what it was and Colt "Ezreal" Hallam said, "She is a heretic." She was exiled from Solari. This transformed its symbolism, emotions and lack of emotions into something. Wow. It. We agreed. This was an internal challenge and, after this revelation, the floodgates opened. We were in love with this character and this has spread to a lot more people. She is an amazing character-based plot.

What was the biggest challenge to create Diana?

IronStylus: She is cold and emotionless, but has a purity and precision with a minimum of facial expressions that are present in anime. She can not seem bored. How can you sell "unattached" without seeming bored? How do you turn tragedy into something not so sad? The answer is that complex characters gain something back, even through the tragedy.

CaptainLx: So I had to make it detonate, but without moving it too. I broke Draven, who is so big and expressive. And she is the exact opposite. Maybe she's adjusting his armor - no, that is very outgoing. I had big problems to find the equilibrium it does not do much, but at the same time seem very much alive.

BelligerentSwan: I had the same problem with the sound. Starting with Draven and Jayce sounds exaggerated and going with a more emotive character, trying to sell this power without appearing exaggerated, was a challenge. Certainly, finding the right tones to counteract the personality was quiet a challenge.

NinjaChewyKun: For me, the frustration came from trying to make you think of Leona, but not make them equal. The moon can be yellow, but the sun can also. It was hard to find a visual particle specific to it.

Harrow: Working with the dubbing was difficult because she spends half the time saying nothing. It is not fancy, but has emotions contained. We did not want it so *** and as if Mortga inside. It is tragic, yet powerful.

As you have stated the personality, cold and reserved Diana through art?

CaptainLx: We wanted it to be tragic without being consumed or really angry inside. We include animations and slow pursuit. If you are chasing you and cause sluggishness, it stretches as if trying to grab the enemy and pull him close. We notice things like his laugh - it is more like a mockery. That's the character.

Knockmaw: It is different. She has all this power inside, but not outside. In the illustration, we show the ground with the action acontecedo around her, but she is calm, cool and self-possessed. At the same time, she has to have its own look beautiful.

shadowMacuahuitl: I downloaded accuracy of their facial expressions and structured its model. I started with the shape of your hair and it really defined the character's personality to me. I've been thinking about it a lot and had a dream about her hair. Woke up in the morning and sketched what I saw in my dream, precise curves and how to style it. I brought the draft to the office and that's how it happened.

CaptainLx: I hope that people see the illustration and design that face her in the game.

As Diana's relationship with the moon affected the art?

IronStylus: We knew we wanted to make an anti-Leona, but we wanted it to be more than a girl who had some business there with the moon theme. To be a fundamental character, it needs to be self-sufficient. Almost was more difficult because it is based on another character. We were more concerned with character than working with its iconography. We use the moon for spells, weapons and particles. The moon is a hard iconic graphic. Every phase of the moon is graphical. The moon does nothing by itself, then assign powers of the moon: a party dish, cutting, cold desert. We use this reason to make it the opposite of Leona. We adapt to our purposes the moon instead of making the moon an object be embodied. We put crescents everywhere: hair, weapon, armor, death animation - even going to the blows, particles and its death animation.

NinjaChewyKun: The moon helps emphasize her personality: distant and cold. Sure, it makes sense that she idolize the moon.

CaptainLx: The format of the animations help to feel the moon for his skill set. It is an expression of your personality that she chose to worship the moon. When she uses the spell return she kneels and prays to the goddess of the moon. We were more concerned with the character's personality than with the iconography of the moon, but the moon had more visuals to inspire us.

What was your favorite part of the process of creation of Diana?

NinjaChewyKun: Everyone was so excited and passionate about it. There was a clear sense as to what kind of person she is. The concepts were so inspiring. For me the best Champions in which we work are those who have more direction. Everyone had an idea of how your particles should be. It was a fun collaboration.

CaptainLx: I think collaboration is a great way to describe your process. We work together from the very beginning and we had lots of fun discussions. I threw away most of the animations I've ever played before because we were playing with a lot of ideas. And if she's jumping? And if it is spinning? Finding the right balance - it is slight, but it is also natural. People cared and asked for advice to others, then this character flowed very well.

IronStylus: Nobody had fears of getting feedback or question anything. Everyone wanted a return. Nobody was invested as a background. It was a collaboration based on trust.

Knockmaw: Diana was funded in domestic ... so, everyone had so much passion and could not wait to put their hands on it. There's something to be said about an idea that emerges from within and everyone feels.
