It is said that the man now known as Dr. Mundo was born without any sort of conscience. Instead, he had an unquenchable desire to inflict pain through experimentation. By the time he was five, most of the pets in the Zaun neighborhood where Mundo grew up had gone missing. By his teenage years, his parents were nowhere to be found. By the time he had legally acquired his license to practice medicine, he had been acquitted of thirty-eight separate charges of murder by the Zaun authorities; the lack of evidence made prosecution impossible.
Dr. Mundo has become equal parts serial killer and mad scientist, though no one is entirely sure how his butchery qualifies as science. However, he has made tremendous strides in mapping the pain response in the human brain and body, going so far as being able to suppress it, even in the most excruciating of circumstances. He has also tapped into the primal parts of the brain through chemistry, learning how to enhance aggression and adrenaline, as well as dulling conscience and the survival instinct. In short, Dr. Mundo's life's work has been how to create the perfect science-enhanced killer. Unfortunately, the city-state of Noxus regards such behavior as a sign of initiative and ambition, rather than inhumanity. Originally fighting for Zaun, Dr. Mundo was recruited to also fight for Noxus in the League of Legends; the Madman dual faction status represents the fruits of a blossoming relationship between Zaun and Noxus. He continues his experiments to this day, even using himself as an experimental subject, as evidenced by his disfigured appearance and his... unique manner of speaking. There are rumors that the High Command in Noxus has given him free reign to pursue his life's work in his spare time.

Let me say something before you read the whole guide.
This guide is in my opinion a good way to play Mundo.
Of course they may be better possibilities,but i tried lots of guides and i was not so happy.
A guide always is very good but never perfect try my guide i am sure it will please you in the game but dont be afraid to make a bit change.
It is also very unusal to have a 1/29/0 talent skill tree order,but i dont really find good alternatives,thaugh i think Mundo dont dies very often in a game so if you skill that he comes faster to life, you do something wrong in the game and mundo does not need any mana^^.
Mundo is a champ that is a tank for such situation if your team has won a teamfights but there is no minion,go and tank the tower Mundo.
Also Mundo is a champ that can give his team time to recover from graveyard while he is fighting 1on5 alone and thanks to his Ultimate Sadism he often survives.And with the Atmas in my built you make good dmg while you are THE FORTRESS OF YOUR TEAM,hf with Mundo he is one of my favourites. =)
I have taken 9 times the glpyh of shielding which gives you 2.7 magic resist at lv 18.
I take it because often the enemie´s AP mid champ gets very high DPS and Mundo needs to be a perfect tank.
The Quintessences give me a good amount of life,very useful in the start of a game where this much life will keep opponents away or if they dare to attack you they need to waste nearly all of their good spells and if you are clever enough you escape with a smile.
Health Regen is the most important for Dr.Mundo and i think each Health Regen point gives Mundo to do what he pleases^^.
I take AD runes cause i think sometimes Mundo needs more damage and with these runes and Atmas you get enough AD.
Well first of all to the starting item.
You can start with Doran´s shield,but i think you already have enough live and a heal pot is nice for the beginning so i start with the Regrowing Pendant.
Never forget to built at least 3 Warmogs with Mundo,with the high number of life and the high number of health regen Mundo is unbeatable.The Ulti Sadism gives you movement speed and extra health regen.
I take thornmail for enemy AD champs who onehit theirselves at Mundo. Believe me there are too often guys that get confused in a teamfight and focus the big one ( LOL).
And Atmas gives you more armor and 2% AD dependent from your whole life,so i say NICE.
you may change 1 warmogs with a spirit visage.
At top you first skill should be Infected Cleaver ,which can be used at range and slows downs enemy and deals quite good damage.Together with your ulti it is your best ability when you chase or escape from enemy champions.
The second spell that you skill is Burning Agony which helps you to kill minions and thanks to the health regen you get your life fast back,but be aware stop the use of it if you see that your enemy is making fast damage and you are close to death.
The third skill is:Masochism which gives you if you sacrafize life additional attack damage.
I often use this spell for towers too,it is very useful.Well i think you should first built up your Q spell Infected Cleaver because you have to use it often.Then i built up the E skill Masochism because your W Spell Burning Agony is at first very low with damage but later this skill is very strong with damage. Of course built up your ultis at lv 6,11 and 16.
I was very afraid of testing this at ranked because i was always good with Mundo and dont want to destroy his K/D/A xDDDD.
But i tried it out and i am saying the truth when i say:90% of the games end up in godlike,5% in legendary and 1% in hard matches and the other 4% are games like 8/5 or so on because we have a teammate who is not giving 100%.But thats the point even in my godlike games we have guys who just play ranked to troll and then a good Mundo can bring the win and tank towers and chase enemies or defend as long as the team comes back.
But pls dont feel like Rambo in early game,champions like Tristana can really get fed by you,and you will be the loser of the match.And there a lot of players who take executioners call just to kill you.For that case i suggest you change the built a bit and get more armor.
Pros / Cons
+with Dr.Mundo you get one of the tankiest and unkillablest(i dont even know if this word exists^^)champions ever invented in LOL.
+you easily get champions or escape from them
+thanks to your w and e you are a nice farmer of minions,although it is not your task
+your ulti gives you the opportunity to stay much longer than any other at a lane
+often you get compliments like Mundo Numero Uno or i love you =)
+Mundo does look supercool HAHAHA
-We all know how OP Mundo is but unfortunatly there are a few champs like Katarina or fizz who have good chances vs Mundo because they can half his heal....
-guys often will flame you because they think you steal( well only you know if this is true)
-All players with ignite are a danger for you and all players who know how to time executioner´s calling
I take Ignite because often guys run away or attack me at tower and that extra damage is the reason why they die earlier than me.
And ghost is again a nice spell to chase or escape.
A good alternative to ghost is exhaust but i think if you are good enough with your Q spell targeting you dont need exhaust.
Flash is always good,but well sometimes you flash and in that second the enemy casts a aoe and you die. I think with ghost you still have the control and you avoid the ****ing enemy minions.
Smite is for junglers^^ and Teleport is nice too but i dont really often get situations to push or backdoor. Mundo always dominates,rememeber that =).
Season 5 teleport was very good thanks to the cdr reduction if used on turrets,but season 6
is more outplay focused.
YOU ARE THE TANK.
Always go first in teamfight and get the focus of the enemy team on you.
If you achieve that and if your opponents are silly enough to attack you with their ultis or best spells your team has a easy job.
Mundos decide games very often.
Make sure to keep your Cooldown of Teleport as low as possible,teleport to turrets but if you can walk to lane and watch for dragon oppurtunites so you can tp there and win the game at that point because your team has more global gold.
Ask junglers for early ganks cause mid and lategame you are a Beast.
AND NOW I SAY GO AND WIN GAMES WITH THE BOSS OF THE BOSSES DR. MUNDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Teleport doesnt give cooldown reduction when cast on a turret so RIP
Changes Season 5
well good old Atmas is gone so we gonna rebuild it.
My guide is not the shiniest but it contains the truth.
These days its really the best if you go for Maw of Malmoritius which is build up by the
Hexdrinker, a item which gives you a decent shield absorbing damage if you have taken MAGICAL
damage. Its great vs Rumble, Vladimir or Lissandra but also can be used smartly in teamfight
for instance if a AP support like Morgana,Lulu or Nami or even Lux procc it and then you
bait snd create maybe a play you wont forget that fast.
Season 6 changes
For the Toplane there is a new buff:
If you manage to kill the Rift Herald a boss that spawns pre Baron and is there from 1.40 to 20 Minutes and remains there until killed.
With the help of your jungle you should secure it and have a decent advantage for a short amount of time. Its basically a smaller version of the baron buff with the same recalling effect.
A lot of items have been implented as well as the grievous wound item Executioner's Calling,
which only reduces the heal by 40% but unfortunatly is worth buying since together with last whisper you can have a weapon that gives decent stats and is strong vs the kind of Dr Mundo and other life/liferegen Champions.
But thanks god there are items that help scale you into a undestroyable machine.
Beware pushing mechanics have changed with season 6 , turrets have more life but less resistance.
