Runes

Umbra blades' cooldown is reduced by every basic attack so for early sustain attack speed marks are very good. I like to take health seals instead of armour because it gives better defence than armour after their nerf. Finally scaling magic resist glyphs are great late game. Attack damage give a good boost although movement speed are also viable.

Abilities

(Passive) Umbra Blades
- Umbra blades gives you some sustain plus AOE damage. It is great early game in the jungle. Also every basic attack takes 1s of the cooldown so build attack speed.
(Q) Duskbringer
- Duskbringer is your main ability. It grants you increased movement speed and attack damage which is great for initiation. It also also you to get away from tricky situations. You should max it out first
(W) Shroud of Darkness
- Shroud of Darkness passively increases your attack speed which is great for early game. Also when activated it grants a spell shield that blocks the next ability. After patch 4.21 this allows nocturne to do the dragon early game like pantheon. Even so you should max it out last.
(E) Unspeakable Horror
- Unspeakable Horror is basically a fear, but on top of that you will travel incredibly quickly to feared champions making it a great gap closer. You should cast it after landing your Q. You need to be careful because it is not instant and the enemy can break free. You should max it out second.
(R) Paranoia
- This is the ultimate ganking ability. Nocturne can launch himself at an enemy champion and close a massive gap. It also take away all vision to enemies. The only downside is it has a massive cooldown. You should put a point in it whenever you can.

How to play nocturne

Early game
- FARM, FARM, FARM. Nocturne's early ganks are not that great and getting stacks on your devourer is really good. You can try ganking but only if you are really sure. But it is best to get ahead of everyone.
Mid game
- Once you get your R the find begins. Gank with your R+Q+E and it will be an almost certain kill. After some kills start to go tanky.
Late game
- Now you can split push and finish off the game. Also being a great duelist he can fight off any incoming enemies. While your teem pushes mid you can secure top or bot.
