Introduction
Hi there!
I hope you will like this guide on the new champion of the League: Draven, which is my fisrt one here on MobaFire!
Note that I will not discuss in depth the masteries or the runes, since they are the standard AD Carry ones, but will focus on skill use and tactics.
Don't forget to vote and comment if this was useful to you!
Lets begin with a small pros-cons:
spaaaaaaaaaaaaaace |
---Pros Good harrase Amazing farm Incredibly high damages Useful and powerful ulrimate |
SPACE | - | SPACE |
---Cons Might get outfarmed Easily caught by skillshots Needs farm, useless otherwise |
Well, as said before, those are the standard runes/masteries for an AD Carry, and i think they work pretty well with Draven!
See this complete guide made by glizdka if you are interested in more details about Armor Penetration vs. Attack Damage.
Even if the item build also is the regular one, let's have a look:
Tips and explanations:
If you dont like to begin with Boots and Health Potion then Doran's Blade is your friend.
Whenerver you get the first blood, then consider to fall back in order to buy another Doran's Blade (or your first one if you bought the boots), this will help you hold your lane against that harassing Varus.
If you begun with Doran's Blade, your next item will be the boots, because you need them more than anyone in order to catch your Spinning Axe. After that, save 1650 gold and buy a B. F. Sword to %¬&*@%* your lane.
Here come an important part of an AD Carry build, but the most important one of Draven's one: the Infinity Edge. Basically, this will enhance your passive, Wicked Blades, casing the targets to bleed even if you hit them wit a simple autohit. See the Math section for more details.
The rest of the sequence is pretty simple: more movement speed, more attack damage and some survivability. Concerning this point, do not buy Guardian Angel every time because it's in the item sequence, consider the team you're playing against:
For late game, Last Whisper scales very well, as the enemy have a thick armor. You could also buy a second Phantom Dancer instead (as you will critically strike every hit, especially Spinning Axe, and get some more movement speed, it is a valuable as Last Whisper).
But those two last are in my opinion for entertaining purpose only, if you get enough gold to buy one of them, then you're already "Godlike" or something like that!
Why this?
Well, Spinning Axe is your main ability, as well as an amazing burst on early, mid and lategame. It also helps you a lot to farm in the laning phase, somax it first. Taking an early point in Stand Aside helps you harrase your opponents and slow them when your jungler comes to gank.
See the Tactics section below for more informations on the skills and how to use them.
Quick tip (or how to up your skills):
The fist three one remain as described, and then do the following:
Can you up Whirling Death? If not, is Spinning Axe avaliable? If not, then is Blood Rush uppable? If not, then you just have to up Stand Aside.
Spinning Axe
The funny part of playing Draven is his Spinning Axe, and you'll have to master it in order to farm, get kill and not getting killed.
General
If you don't move while throwing Spinning Axe, it will land on you, or at your close right or left. This means you will have to constantly move to get your axe back in your hands. If you fail to do so, you will quickly have mana issues. Also know (if you're not already aware of that) that if you move, your axe will land on your way such that you dont have to change direction and catching it will reset the cooldown of Blood Rush.
Farming
While in lane, take advantage of your axes to get last hits very easily but be careful not to push your lane, which will happen if you constantly hit the creeps.
In order to avoid that, wait until the creep you'll taget is very low (as you would usually do when last-hitting) or, if the effect of your Spinning Axe is nearly over, hit the big tanky minnion once, in order to reset the effect and not to loos it. Also learn to "guide" your axe in order to lasthit and then immediatly fall back while getting your axe. If you don't, then you'll certainly be targeted by some skillshot of a random Nidalee or Varus for instance.
Going for the kill
The basic combo is -> -> -(many times)-> (if they hadn't enough to cry).
Escape
If you're getting chased in the jungle, it might be a good idea to activate Blood Rush and Spinning Axe in order to hit a neutral monster and get your Blood Rush's cooldown reset. Also remember that Stand Aside slows them.
More to come, especially about Whirling Death!
