Welcome to my first build on mobafire. I'll keep it short and sweet.


Garen's goal in life is to be a bad ***, and here's how:

Have Decent Armor
Have Decent Armor Penetration
Have Great Health
Have Great Attack Speed
Have Great Cooldown Reduction
Have HIGH Crit Chance
Have HIGH Attack Damage
Have HIGH Movement Speed

This build will accomplish all of that and make you a Ganker from level 1 through level 18.

Start your build off with Doran Shield. It provide that little extra health you'll need to stay in the lane longer than your opponents. With your Passive Health Regen, you have a huge advantage on most of the champions.

Speed is important, so our next item will be Boots of Swiftness. By the time you can afford this, you'll be about level 5 and will need that added speed to initiate, kill, and get out without dieing.

The 3rd item is Sunfire Cape. This does alot of things for us. It provides us with the health we will need to stay alive from level 6-12. It also provides us with extra damage to minions. Which helps in farming the minions. Which you'll need to do if you want to complete the build.

The 4th Item is Warmoog's Armor. We need this for obvious reasons. It provides us with good defense and great health. It will supplement our 5th item as well.

The 5th Item is Atma's Impalar. This item is an all around win. It adds to our Defense, it starts our quest for Crit Strike and it does damage based on your health. The higher your Health, the more damage Atma's will do. This Item completes our CORE items.

The next few items are what we hope to buy every game. But you may replace them if necessary with other helpful situational items. (Banshee's, Thornmail, etc)

The 6th Item is Youmuu's Ghostblade. This provides us with additional AD as well as more CDR and once again more Crit Strike. All 3 supplement this build nicely.

The 7th Item is Infinity Edge. Do not piece it together. Wait until you have enough gold and then replace the Doran Shield with Infinity Edge. This add more AD, more Critical Strike, and increase your Crit strike from 200% to 250%. Once this item has been purchased, you will start to see Crit Damage ranging from 450 up to 700 on minions with your auto attack.

The 8th Item is Phantom Dancers and you will once gain save up until you have enough to buy it outright. You will be replacing your Sunfire Cape. Since this is your last item, you no longer need the Sunfire Capes small AP damage. This adds more Attack Speed, Movement Speed and more Crit %. It the last of the items and completes the build.

When I have the time, I will finish explaining the rest of the sections. For now, just look at the Item/Masteries/Rune build and follow it. Don't worry noobs, I'll have a section specifically for you.
