Greetings Summoners! My name is Moggert and this is my first guide. I typically stream Shen Support being that he is my all time favorite champ to play. Shen has many abilities in his tool kit, that if used correctly, can be hugely beneficial to the team.

FLASH TAUNT!
As explained in the spells section, flash + taunt can make an easy kill. If you practice taunt + flash you can be hard to avoid for those really slippery champions.

Shields, shields, shields!
So many shields. use W while engaging the enemy to give yourself that little extra protection.
Use Face of the Mountain for those clutch saves OR before the teams initiator goes in.
Locket of Iron Solari is awesome after you ult into a team fight. You do not need to target a teammate in order for it to be used, so hitting it as soon as you land will provide a shield to the teammate you landed on, yourself, and anyone else on your team who is around.

Taunt!
I hardly use this skill to initiate a team fight. Instead, use it to peel for carries. If you are being chased, look for opportunities to go over walls. If you are chasing, use it to grab an enemy who is in range. If you have home guard and ult on someone, you can close large gaps quickly with the speed boost. The more enemies you taunt, the more energy you get back for Q and W.

Ultimate!
This global ultimate can change the outcome of a small skirmish quickly. As a support, you should be constantly looking at the mini-map to see ward placement and look for enemy ganks. Make sure you also keep an eye out for teammates getting beat down. If you are about to ult, PING!!! An OMW ping or a target ping will let your teammate know you are coming to assist. Its better to ult a teammate who is in a fight to get an assist than to let the teammate duke it out while you have ult up and they die. Avoid using this skill to get into lane faster.

I take exhaust and flash. Flash is crucial for a Shen support. Exhaust can be replaced with Teleport.

Why flash? Flash + Taunt = huge gap closer. This combination can also be used while chasing to prevent the enemy to get away. If practiced, Shen can Taunt + Flash so that he will still be in taunt coming out of the flash. This takes practice to master but, if done correctly, is near impossible to avoid.

Exhaust: Both beneficial during early skirmishes to reduce enemy ADCs damage and in late game to slow enemies who are running away. Flash + Taunt + Exhaust is a death sentence to most champions who are alone.

I play Shen like a support. I do not try and carry with him. I do not try and make huge plays with him. Shen is a very defensive champion and should be used to help secure kills or peel for his teammates. Items should be built to help the team, so buying an early Sight Stone and Face of the Mountain may not get you kills, but it will help the team dramatically.

I will typically wait to get my first skill until the jungle camps spawn. If there is no invade, start Q to help clear the jungle mobs and help with early clear using Targon's Brace. Remember, if your ADC is low on HP, killing a minion with a stack on Targon's Brace instead of the enemy ADC may be the difference between getting first blood or giving it up. Level Q first for the extra poke, than level W for the extra shield. More times than not I have had a DoT on me while getting away that has been the death of me. Extra shield points can prevent these unfortunate deaths. Last level E. I know most people will say level this second, but the extra CDR from leveling it isn't as beneficial as the extra shield from W. As with most champs, level R when it is available.
