Also, your reasoning in the 3rd post makes no damn sense whatsoever. Hurr ok, if your opponent is dumb enough to get hit with the spider, sure it may do more damage, as will your w in spider form, but you AGRO THE CREEP WAVE, and PUSH THE WAVE TO DEATH as opposed to q harass which dose not agro creeps. No, just no. Maxing q is 1000% the way to go, no questions asked, end of discussion.

Masteries: WRONG
Items: DEAD WRONG
Skill order: SUPER DUPER WRONG
Runes: Mediocre, I prefer MS quints

1/10, and the 1 point is for effort.

I've played a huge amount of elise top, and this build is just terrible. If you want me to go into more depth, send me a PM and we'll chat.

Ninja Tabi is really solely for laning purposes against an AD opponent so you can win exchanges, imo. Once you start getting into teamfights and you wish to initiates, Mercury's Treads are much more safer.

Frozen Heart has armor, CDR, mana and aura. Armor will still be covered by Guardian Angel, mana and CDR will be covered by Athene's Unholy Grail if you take that (I'll get to this in a moment) and your jungler or your support can take Frozen Heart, so you'll still have the aura in most teamfights. The only real reasons why you'd need Frozen Heart is if no one else on your team has it for the aura and for its huge mana pool (biggest in-game, I believe). So this should remain as a situational item.

Now, Zhonya's Hourglass is a really good item - decent defensive stats, good offensive stats and a decent active. Toplaners that take it are Rumble and Vladimir, but I'm not entirely sure if it will fit with Elise. If you lane against a champion that deals magic damage, then rushing a Chalice of Harmony would be a good idea, but if you're against an AD champ, grabbing a Chain Vest will be a good idea too. The problem I'm faced with is whether to build it into Guardian Angel or Zhonya's Hourglass, because building GA will hold back your damage, but building into Zhonya's Hourglass presents a gap in magic resist.

My greatest struggle is the build order. For example, Chalice of Harmony is rushed because it's a cheap item with great mana sustain for you to stay in lane longer and outfarm your opponent. But it doesn't provide any damage for your abilities that a Malady might do instead. So I'm going to suggest a few build orders and let you decide which one is optimal in a given situation.

Boots + 3 Health Potions -> Malady -> Mercury's Treads -> Chalice of Harmony/ Fiendish Codez -> Giant's Belt -> Bilgewater Cutlass -> Rylai's Crystal Scepter -> Guardian Angel/ Chain Vest -> Athene's Unholy Grail -> Hextech Gunblade

Mercury's Treads, Malady, Athene's Unholy Grail, Rylai's Crystal Scepter, Guardian Angel, Hextech Gunblade.

Boots + 3 Health Potions -> Hextech Revolver/ Bilgewater Cutlass -> Mercury's Treads -> Rylai's Crystal Scepter -> Zhonya's Hourglass -> Athene's Unholy Grail -> Hextech Gunblade -> Guardian Angel.

Mercury's Treads, Rylai's Crystal Scepter, Zhonya's Hourglass, Athene's Unholy Grail, Hextech Gunblade Guardian Angel.

I completely agree, its interesting that you should say it as I was going to change the boots to Mercury's Treads and try out Guardian Angel to see where I can fit it in :)

[edit] What I am actually going to try is swapping in Mercury's Treads to core, Ninja Tabi to situational if you are losing tradeoff in lane when you engage. Then swap Glacial Shroud for Chain Vest core, Null-Magic Mantle if you take Ninja Tabi. Then later on swap the Frozen Heart for Guardian Angel. Thoughts?

[edit 2] And possibly swapping Zhonya's Hourglass for Athene's Unholy Grail to get that CDR and mana back in.. also more mana sustain.. Looks interesting, Lots to try!

Thanks for the constructive feedback :)

Well, just glancing over, I think you should consider investing in some magic resist somewhere. You have tons of armour, but next to no Magic Resist.

Perhaps an Abyssal Mask or a Banshee's Veil might do the trick. Other possibilities are Athene's Unholy Grail or Guardian Angel.

I also think Mercury's Treads should be core. The Tenacity is far too important to pass over (that and you really lack Magic Resist).

Lets consider your Q is better than W, and see what we come out with. I have run the maths for lvl 1, taking into account my masteries and runes which actually benefit AP way more than AD:

Human Form
Q, assuming full health 500HP opponent (fair lvl 1 starting health): 95 DMG.
W, 92 Damage and it's AOE so will clear up the low minions around the target aswell.

So far you are correct by 3 dmg (only vs 1 opponent).

Switch to Spider Form for rest of combo.
Q, 73dmg assuming you knocked them down to 1/2 health (not gonna happen so dmg will be less than that)
W, 84dmg + heals you for 25 hp.

So at lvl 1 taking W allows for 176 dmg (some aoe too) + 25 healing, over 168 dmg (only single target).

Now your arguement will be that as they lvl they get more health so Q does more dmg. But W scales by 5 more dmg each lvl up, which would be a health increase of 62.5 HP per level just to break even.

Now look at the build. First Item is Malady. It's got AP which again is gonna break roughly even in human form. The attack speed though, combined with the magic damage PER HIT, massively increases dmg by just hitting. In spider form your Q will do a little more damage, but your W will be huge - tonnes more hits = more heals and more flat 20magic damage per hit, plus as you level your R you get more spiderlings so even more attacks.

Malady makes your spider W simply epic. I only did the calculation for lvl 1, but it is only gonna scale in favour of W.

Sustain. At level 6 you will have 3 spiderlings and hopefully a Malady. In short popping spider W gets you 75hp which you can do every 11.5secs without Cooldown reduction. It costs nothing to do. Also scales with every point in W or R. You should be able to get to lvl 6 with your pots.

If you're talking mana sustain then I suggest that you missed part of my guide, Basic Tactics section:

"If they are a little more passive, be overly passive. Top lane will have life steal or some form of sustain. Q is good, but you will run out of mana long before getting a kill.".

You are building to full combo them and trade hard. Do it from them having 100% health. You will win the trade if you follow my guide. they will have to leave lane and you won't because your sustain is free.

There is little sustain and I find it dealing not enough damage.

it doesnt seem as smart to max your W before you Q for the reason that in team fights and assassinations you deal off more damage with a combo with Q.

I didn't want to post anything that I haven't tried out. Obviously you can upgrade it to Frozen Heart but the build is pretty expensive as is, I've only once had a game last long enough to finish Zhonya's - and I was super fed in that game.

On top of that theres wards and more pots etc.

In hindsight there's nothing else in the build that can be upgraded so it would have to be the next choice, I just haven't had a game last that long :-) I'll update it now.

[edit] Just bolted it on, but I haven't played with this item enough on Elise. I'll try rushing it in a few games and see if it should drop in earlier.

Whhy would you have a Glacial Shroud as a end-game-item?
