Why another Evelynn guide ... she's broken?!?!
You probably clicked on this guide to immediately rage about her being broken, and ridicule me for spending any time on writing a guide for her. So let me state for the record at the beginning. She is Broken and Under Powered. If you pick her in Que, people will accuse you of being a troll. When they are garbage and don't help on ganks, or push their lane too hard and you can't initiate a gank under a tower (who would!?!?) ... they accuse you of not being a viable character or the dreaded and feared title of "Noobz".
Ahhh, but when you get a team that knows what they are doing and can communicate ... delicious!
I'm building this guide to add to the cult following of one of the BEST Champs in the game, the League's BEST Assassin .. Evelynn. What other Champ even though they are broken and under powered can wreck havoc and cause people to begin to declare "HACKZ!". Who among your favorite Champions can make them spend ridiculous amounts of gold on buying extra wards and oracles -- for such a "small threat"?!? MY beloved Eve!!
I originally bought Evelynn after playing against a stealthy character who popped out of thin air and nuked me down. The champ they were using was Twitch. After the game, I immediately went to the Riot Store and began searching out stealthy characters. I didn't have enough IP to buy Twitch, but had enough for Evelynn.
It was not love at first sight. I was so confident in being able to stealth and then pop out of the shadows that I didn't even bother to look up a guide. (Mind you I had only been playing for about 2 weeks at the time!) I launched a game and kept getting wrecked. I emo-raged and put Eve on a shelf for about a month.
On a whim one evening I picked her up again. My understanding of the game in general had improved and I won the match - carried the team even. Thus my illicit affair with Eve began. To this day, as I'm sure any Eve player can relate, I'm drawn to her. Her seductive voice, that laugh when she pops her Ult. While I do enjoy playing other characters (especially squishy stealthers) ... there is only room enough for one place in my heart for the Queen of all Champions ... Evelynn.

I find it extremely helpful to "get into" the Champion I'm playing to understand their playstyle. Take some time to read up on your champs and see where they've been, and more importantly ... how they think.
<Disclaimer: be careful following that advice when playing Shaco -- he's nuts!>
To Evelynn's lore per Riot:
Evelynn's origins are shrouded in mystery - a mystery she herself helps to perpetuate. What everyone does know about Evelynn, however, is that she is one of the most skilled assassins in Valoran. It is clear upon first meeting her that she is not quite human. Some theorize that she was cursed with a mild form of fantastical vampirism as a child. Supporters of this theory contend that her ability to sap the very life essence of her opponents on (and off) the Fields of Justice, while still being able to tolerate direct sunlight, would account for this belief. There is some evidence that Evelynn originally came from the Shadow Isles - the mysterious island located northwest of Valoran that is eternally blanketed by a thick, unnatural fog. It is thought that the Shadow Isles are home to countless forms of undead, though no one seems eager to perform the exploration necessary to find out the truth. Evelynn neither confirms nor denies her connection to Shadow Isles.
The power brokers of Valoran know that Evelynn's services come at the highest of premiums, and her recent addition to the League of Legends indicates that her ambitions are growing. Her savagery on the Fields of Justice has been so great that new rumors about her origins are now circulating. The most popular one - an abuse of magic as a child morphed her into the hungering beast her opponents see on the battlefield - always makes her smile when hearing it... an act that bares her razor-sharp fangs and teeth. Evelynn now curries favor from League summoners, gaining influence for reasons known only to her. While the nature of her plans- much like almost everything else about her - remains unknown, there's little doubt that those plans are now set on the world stage.

The Rune Setup is good except for the Quints. Help me here as the Quints for Vampirism are not an option to select. I usually now go with 3 of these as it helps my early jungle and when I need to drink from the enemy's minions for a quick health boost.
Greater Mark of Alacrity x9
(how do you even pronounce that!?!?)
As you can probably see, we are building her more AD than AP. Hence .. we need to build those leg muscles up so she can kick the **** outta whatever's in front of her quicker!
This adds 15% increased Attack Speed.
Greater Seal of Resilience x9
You may not think the +13 Armor amounts to much -- but it does early game. Evelynn needs that extra bit early on so she isn't having to port back to the base to heal up after each encounter in the jungle. You should be ganking by level 3 -- so speed is of the essence. This armor will help you survive!!
Greater Glyph of Warding x9
Same thought as above. This gives you +13 Magic Resist.
Greater Quintessence of Vampirism x3
Moabafire doesn't list these Qunits as options for the guide --- but grab 3 of these for 6% Lifesteal! This will also add to the quickness of your jungle. Quicker jungle = quicker ganking!
My old Quints are added to this until Moabafire updates their choices.
Fortitude for +26 Health and Swiftness for 3% Increased Movement Speed.
2 Points in Brute Force for +2 AD
2 Points in Mental Force for +2 AP
4 Points in Alacrity for 4% Attack Speed
4 Points in Sorcery for 4% Cooldown Reduction (You need this here to be able to pop Shadow Walk quicker!!
1 Point in Weapon Expertise for 10% Armor Penetration
1 Point in Arcane Knowledge for 10% Magic Penetration
3 Points in Vampirism for 3% Life Steal (combined with your Runes and your up to 12% Life Steal before you start the game!)
3 Points in Sunder for +6 Armor Penetration
1 Point in Executioner for +6% Damage to targets below 40% Health
1 Point in Summoner's Resolve to add 10 gold upon use of Smite
3 Points in Hardness for +6 armor
1 Point in Tough Skin reduces damage from minions and monsters by 1
3 Points in Vigor for +3 Health Regen every 5 seconds
1 Point in Bladed Armor to return 6 damage against minion and monster attacks
Your job as Evelynn is to do a lot of Hit-n-Run, "Be Everywhere", and make them spend gold to counter you!
Start off your intrepid journey by grabbing a Regrowth Pendant and 1 Health Pot
(The rest of this obviously will depend on your success and sometimes things are situational. I.E. Was the leash on Blue horrible and it reset? Did you get an early gank? Were you the recipient of an early gank? You get the idea!)
After completing your jungle Blue, wolves, wraiths and Red - go back and convert the Regrowth Pendant to a Philosopher Stone, get your Boots of Speed, Cloth Armor, and another Health Pot
Your next trip back should be to convert your Cloth Armor to Madred's Razor and your boots to Boots of Mobility. Why these boots you ask? Evelynn is all about being everywhere at the same time in the enemy's mind. You just ganked on bottom lane - cloak and see if you can immediately gank top - using stealth they typically won't see you moving there. Pop up at random time -- or stay hidden in yours or their jungle and make 'em wonder where you are. Playing Eve well has a psychological effect on players as well.
After that get your Wriggle's Lantern and begin working on your Malady and Wit's End.
This is followed up with Ionian Spark. I like this as it brings more "umph" to your AOE in Hate Spike and can help clear a large minion wave quickly and reduce mana consumption.
Lastly finish it off with Madred's Bloodrazor and Hextech Gunblade. The gunblade is optional and you may want something completely different end game. I like it for the spell vamp as if you've been doing your job right everyone now has an Oracle and you need extra survivalbility!!
While I recommendSmite and Ignite, other viable options (apart from Smite) are ok as well.
You have to have smite to Jungle Eve. You're not Warwick. No changing this one!!
I like Ignite for that last little finish if they are going under a tower or I'm in GTFO mode. You can also use this one for the psychological effect and pop it on people while stealthed and then they think you're camping them. Can be a waste, but it's kinda of phun too!
You may want to use Flash, Surge, or Cleanse as your second Summoner Spell. All situational. During Draft mode, try and determine who will be in what lane. If they have a ton of Crowd Control, get Cleanse. Loads of Heals? Grab Ignite. Lot's of tanky people? Getting Flash will help you get away from some tricky spots.
Determined Killer Non-neutral minions deal 50% damage to Evelynn. This is your passive and it's great! The enemies minions do 50% less damage to you. Who says a girl wearing practically nothing can't get away with murder?!?
Hate Spike Damages the closest enemy unit with a lightning fast bolt of energy, dealing magic damage and 50% damage to a secondary nearby target.
Instantly damages the closest enemy unit with malevolent energy, dealing 25/40/55/70/85 (+0.42) magic damage and 50% damage to a secondary nearby target.
Cost: 12/15/18/21/24 Mana
I max this 2nd as this is an AD build. Don't forget to use this while Auto-attacking an enemy champ!!
Shadow Walk Evelynn fades away, becoming stealthed. Evelynn's next attack or damage ability will slow that unit, ending her Shadow Walk.
Evelynn fades away, becoming stealthed for 10/20/30/40/50 seconds. Evelynn's next attack or damage ability will slow her target by 30/35/40/45/50% for 3 seconds, ending her Shadow Walk. 1.5 sec delay for stealth to take effect (delayed further by damage). Evelynn can cast Shadow Walk while stealthed to destealth.
Cost: 60 Mana
I like to get at the very minimum to 2 points. You need at least 20 seconds of stealth to set up and wait for the proper time to come in a gank. Rarely should you be the initiator. Let people get mad at you for this, but you are in no way a tank. Eveylnn takes skill and patience to play. Your not Wu-Kong who is out to prove something to Master Yi, you already have the reputation as the best Assassin in Valoran - you are a mature, seasoned assassin who takes their time to take apart their prey. You don't jump in when it's clear you'll die.
Ravage Deals damage to target unit and reduces the target's armor and magic resistance.
Deals 80/135/190/255/320 (+1) magic damage to target unit and reduces the target's armor and magic resistance by 10/14/18/22/26 for 5 seconds.
Cost: 90/105/120/135/150 Mana
I like to work on maxing this skill first. As an AD nuker, this is your bread-n-butter. Pop Shadow Walk and stalk your prey. If things look favorable, start your feast upon them with Ravage. This combined with you coming out of stealth (slowing them by 1.5 secs) can make for an easy yummy snack. Don't forget to auto-attack!!!
Malice & Spite Evelynn revels in the demise of champions she has aided in killing, healing a large portion of her Health upon their death. She may also activate the ability to increase her Attack and Movement Speed for a short time. If an enemy champion dies, this ability's cooldown is refreshed.
Passive: Each time Evelynn scores a kill or assist, she recovers 150/225/300 health.
Active: Evelynn gains 25/50/75% attack speed and 20/25/30% movement speed for 10 seconds (non-stacking, can cast while stealthed). If an enemy champion dies, this ability's cooldown is refreshed.
Cost: No Cost
Great for team fights or the sudden GTFO need that we all have from time to time. My favorite thing about this skill is that you can almost be dead in a team fight and a champ goes down (either by you or you get an assist) and BAM the skill is refreshed and you gain a bunch of health! Don't forget to pop this again. In my early days of Evelynn i'd forget to pop it again. Just pop it again to keep throwing out your special kinda of love.

Tips and Tricks
Just a few Tips and Tricks I use while playing Evelynn
Mobile Ward: I cannot believe people still don't buy wards. Even if you never play Eve -- BUY WARDS!!! I don't care if your an AD carry - you should be buying a ward and helping for Map Awareness. You may be about 30 secs behind the other AD Carry's build, but you'll see the incoming gank and not die. Thus no time spent being dead and useless! -- But I digress and back to my point. Evelynn has a great benefit of being a mobile ward ALL over the map. Need to check dragon? Have Eve run over (and steal it if they are there) Need a bush face-checked .. have Evelynn do it while Stealthed. Map awareness wins games period.
Double-Tap: So you just went in for a gank on bottom and it didn't go well. Act like your leaving and Stealth as you run away. Once your fully Stealthed, circle back around and kill 'em!! Make sure to communicate this with the people pushing lane so they know to assist too!
Counter-Jungle: You have Stealth and Smite. Need I say more?!? Did their Jungle just die? Wait for them to come back up and head over to their Blue/Red. Stealth up and wait in the bush (or nearest area) When the mob gets to around 250 - hit it with Smite! Do this a couple of times and then they'll save smite as a finsher. That means more damage sometimes on them (due to their paranoia from your harassment) and you kill them instead and then finish off the mob. Lovely!!
Backdoor: If you build Eve AP, you can't Backdoor nearly as effective as this build as you simply won't have the Attack Speed to Backdoor an Inhibitor or Nexus. Backdoor Eve FTW! Even if you don't Backdoor -- stay hidden from the enemy team so they think you are going to. They'll leave someone at their base to defend and then its a 5v4 Team fight instead of a 5v5. Eve is all about the meta-game!! (You all know how the ladies like to play head games right!?!?)
The Dreaded Oracles & Wards: Don't give up and rage quit if everyone now has an Oracle floating over their head!!! This is what you want!! Encourage them in chat to keep buying Oracles at $400 Gold a pop. Work with your teammates and kill them anyhow. Have them spend tons of gold to counter you and not building up their normal build! An oracle may be able to see you stealthed. If it's just one lane that has it ... go to another until they buy one. You can still hide in bushes and they won't see you. Still use your stealth even if they have an oracle. Don't forget your slow you give out once you come out of stealth!! Not sure if they have the area warded? Pop Stealth and see if any minions come and attack you. If they do, avoid this area for 3 minutes. Easy.
I just love playing Evelynn! Once you play with her and see her capabilities - your hooked! Even if "she's broken". I still look forward to a re-work on her kit. I still acknowledge (and am frustrated) that new champs come out regularly that have amazing kits. But my Eve is still viable, still a threat, & still someone who will make them scream!!!!!
