This time i would like to introduce you my way of playing Ezreal, The Prodigal Explorer.
You can find alot of AD/AS builds for him or 50%/50% buids (AD/AP).
Someone tried to post his AP build but he failed somhow, or wasnt convincing enaugh.
Yes, you guessed, this guide will be a Ability Power Ezreal build.
In my eyes, one of the most efficient builds for him.
I know Ezreal is quite flexible char. Can be done either AD/Mix/AP.
I find AP best sutable. Why? Becouse 3 of his skills are AP based, and only 1 is AD based, but we can make that AP dependant as well :).
I use passive Rising Spell Force as a tool of pushing big creep waves and destroying towers.
Big creep waves are quite hard to kill with AP build, since his "farming" skills are not AoE. And you dont want to waste ulti on creeps dont you? :>

- Awesome healer
- Superb kill-stealer and chaser, or last hitter
- Great champ for checking bushes, killing jack's, mushrooms
- One of the best harrasers ingame
- Great AoE damage
- Superb chaser/escaper
- One of the most squishy champions ingame
- Requires alot of training in using skills
- All skills are not targetable and hard to master
- Requires good timing of using spells
- Weak in 1v1 situation
- Vurneable to CC
- Low range of "melee" atack for range champion (550)
Rising Spell Force - Hitting a target with any of Ezreal's abilities increases his attack speed by 15% for 6 seconds (Max Stacks: 5).
Your Passive. Using any skill will trigger a stacking buff up to 75% AS buff. Not much used withing this guide.
Usualy good for creep clearing later in game when your MS will have lower cd or for tower pushing.
Mystic Shot - Ezreal fires a bolt of energy, if it strikes an enemy unit it reduces all of Ezreal's cooldowns by 1 second.
Ezreal fires a bolt of energy dealing 40/65/90/115/140 plus 110% of his attack damage as physical damage (applies on-hit effects).
Ezreal's cooldowns are reduced by 1 second if Mystic Shot hits a target.
Cooldown - 6/5.5/5/4.5/4 seconds
Cost - 30/35/40/45/50 Mana
Range - 1100
Ezreal only physical damage skill. Great harrasment tool in early game, and great last hitter on a running away champion. It scales with your AD doing 110% of your damage + flat amount of bonus damage dependable on your skill lvl. Use it on CD in early game. It has VERY low mana cost and does a fair amount of damage. Range of this spell allows you to safely harras casters. Use it to give your laning partner some space for last hitting mobs, constantly lowerig HP pool of your enemies or even scoring a kill while your enemy is towerhuging on 20HP thinking you wont be able to get him there.
Speed of the projectile is quite high so you should not have any problems in fast learning how to aim with this skill.
From my observations it has the tendency of hitting creep before champion if they are placed very close to eachother.
Dont be discouraged if you miss a shot or two, just keep shooting. Try to stay at max/near-max range, to avoid getting ganked. You are EXTREMALY squishy early game.
This skill is considered as a spell AND as a physical atack. What does it mean to you?
Sheen! yes you get the Sheen proc of each cast and you get the bonus damage from it as well!
OK, i said earlier that we will change that into AP based spell... Magic? naaah... simple... Lichbane. And we just got this spell a AP scaling spell also.
Essence Flux - Ezreal fires a fluctuating wave of energy, damaging and reducing enemy champions attack speed, as well as increasing allied champions attack speed.
Ezreal fires a wave of energy that damages all enemy champions it passes through for 75/125/175/225/275 (+0.6). Affected ally and enemy champions have their attack speed respectively hasted or slowed by 20/25/30/35/40% for 5 seconds.
Cooldown - 10/10/10/10/10 seconds
Cost - 80/90/100/110/120 Mana
Range - 600
Your main damaging ability later on. In early game its usualy used as secondary damage. If i cant do 2 (MS+EF) i use it only when going for sure kill.
In mid game used to boost your allies AS and reduce it on Enemies while doing quite good damage.
Extremaly good for pushing towers in mid game, a well placed flux can make tower dissapear in matter of seconds.
Quite short range so use it right after Shifting than kill with Mystic shot.
Remember it damages only champions so dont waste mana on it to farm creeps :) saw that fiew times :P.
Max this skill ASAP.
Arcane Shift - Ezreal teleports to a target nearby location and fires a homing arrow which strikes the nearest enemy unit.
Ezreal teleports to a target nearby location and fires a homing arrow at the nearest enemy unit dealing 80/130/180/230/280 (+0.75) magic damage.
Cooldown - 19/17/15/13/11 seconds
Cost - 80/90/100/110/120 Mana
Range - 600
Tbh, mainly initiate + escape mechanism. The damage is realy good but unpredictable and very situational. If there are no mobs around you can freely use it, if there are... mainly i dont sicne i want to conserv mana.
Often used tactics:
Shift -> flux -> MS
or flux -> MS -> atack and shift when situation gets hot and heavy.
Works like a flash but with lower range. Can use it to go "through" walls.
Trueshot Barrage - Ezreal channels for 1 second to fire a powerful barrage of energy missiles which do massive damage to each unit they pass through (deals 8% less damage to each unit it passes through).
Ezreal channels for 1 second to fire a barrage of missiles dealing 350/500/650 (+0.7) magic damage to each unit it passes through. However, it deals 8% less damage for each unit it hits (Minimum 30%).
Cooldown - 100/100/100 seconds
Cost - 150/150/150 Mana
Range - Global
Cookiecutter skill. Team destroyer. Lane mob farmer. Sniping tool.
Mechanics like ashe arrow, but it doesnt stop at 1st champ, instead it pierces through all targets giving you stacks of your passive.
Weak part is the 1 sec channeling time before effect.
Try using it as middle damage (at about 50-40% of health of opponents) if it doesnt kill them, just Shift and MS/Flux them to death.
I know this is AP build so most commonly we would see 9/0/21 but not with Ezreal.
His cooldowns are pretty short, you dont rely on summoner skills so going 21 in utility is a waste.
Also, you will kill towers and mobs mainly with your standard atacks that is why i go for 21/0/9 without crit and clarity (you will use it alot).
Start of with Sapphire Crystal and 2 Health Potions, 1 mana potion and go double-lane.
Try to harras as much as possible with your mistic shot, while last-hitting with your normal attack. The opposing team should have huge problems with keeping their health bars above 50% :) and by that you should have enaugh time to last-hit mobs.
Keep doing so untill you reach 1050 gold or untill you are forced to go back (witch shouldnt happen). Play defensive, while harrasing with your mistic shot, dont try doing your normal atacks on them since your range is quite short and you will make yourself vurneable to gank.
After reaching 1050 gold port back for some shopping.
Sheen. This item in early game is made to boost your only physical ability damage. Gives nice and cheap source of AP and Mana, also making your Mystic shot hit alot harder so you could start counting it as your main opener and killer at this point. After we get more than 200AP we will make this into Lichbane making your Mystic Shot hit REALY hard.
Time for some serious ganking and ****. Go to base and buy the CORE ITEM!
Go back to lane and still do your job. lvl up, last hit, harras, try ganking while under 40%-35%.
After getting 800g you can go back again or wait till you get about 2000.
Either way your next items should be:Mercury's Treads are great for you. Mainly coz you are very fragile and vurneable to CC. Getting from slow/stun/silence faster will enable you to blink away and run to safety. Also MR is something nice to have. It saved me more times than Sorcerer's Shoes gave me kills. And with this build survival is more important than that little damage boost. Why? I will explain later.
Mejai's Soulstealer. Core for EVERY caster and also you. At this point of the game, you will have some kick via Arcane Shift+Essence Flux combo, sheen will be great for killing runners so you will get alot of assists/kills. Remember in team fights to use your ulti. Even if you dont kill you should get as much assists as possible to stack up your Soulstealer asap. Dont rambo in just to get kills, you will get plenty later on :) At this point you are more or less a support killer. (just between us, try to kill steal some with Flux to stack up your book faster but dont be too greedy).
While your book is stacking powah! you should get:
Guinsoo's Rageblade. Bought mainly by hybrid build chars and we are doing an AP one here but.
This item is nice for you too becouse its cheap source of 93AP stacked and stacking it should not be a problem so its higher value than void-staff or rod of ages witch takes time of 30min to stack up. 2nd thing is the Atack Speed buff it provides. Together with your passive it will allow you to farm mobs faster. Ezreal has realy hard times farming creeps this will make your life a little bit more user-friendly and provide you some cash boost. You can use your ulti to farm whole lane of creeps but at this point it deals too little damage to one shot em so it will just be a waste of ulti.
By this time you should aready have about 200AP, so time for lichbane. Lichbane buff will now exceed Sheen buff. So we have to swap it :)
By this time you should be spamming Mystic shot on cd, wherever you are if your ulti is on cd, even if you have nothing to shoot, just spam it. Your main source of kills/assists and damage is your ulti witch at this point if placed well is DEVASTATING.
next item you will get is the Zhonya's Ring. Well your AP is high already, get some more for more pew pew, but usualy the game is over before you even get this item. Anyway the only choice for late game.
If you still get the game going, try getting some MrP.Void Staff is great item for that. Strong AP boost, with 40% MrP.
Other choice can be:Abyssal Scepter in many situations can be better than Void staff. Do a fast calculation if the 40% will be better than flat 20 MrP.
Also this item has some Magic Resistance itself. So can be treated as defensive item as well. Remember also it costs over 300g more. Its up to you and how other team stacks MR.
Playstyle //PART UNDER EDITION. NEED SOME TIME WITH NEW EZ ON BATTLEGROUND TO TEST OUT.
Harras + Last hit. Only go for 100% sure kills, back up with heals on your teammate. If you can heal and also hit enemy, dont hassle. Use Mystic Shot as often as you can, on mobs to last hit them, on champions to harras and push them back, try placing Fluxes in more coordinated way since this spell will drain your mana. Clarity should be used on cd. Your play style should be somewhere in between offense and defense. In that way you should be oom or nearly oom at the point where clarity is ready again. Dont towerhug, make your enemies do so, while you snipe them with MS even at towers. When you reach lvl 6 and you will get your ultimate, go for sure kill. Calculate if you will have mana for your combo (blink+flux+ms+Ulti) to not get suprised by going oom in middle of a gank.
This is your skill time. Focus on team ganks. You are weak in 1v1. Think of yourself as a support char not a killer. You will mainly use flux to keep your teammates healed, while you will mystic shot snipe, chase and finish up with your ultimate.
Main tactic with using your ultimate. Always stay back at your team. You are squishy, your job will be healing teammates, and your ulti has no range. So why risking and going in 1st line?
if you face for example 3v3 battle, start channeling your ulti at about 45%-50% of their (or one of them) health. This will have the biggest effect on their morale (going from 50% to 10% or less in a sec will make them panic and start running away (at least it should be). Maybe you wont get the kill now, but 3 assists is more than 1 unsure kill for your book. After that you can try getting kills not assist, by sniping runners with your blink+ms or blink+flux+ms.
If you played good, you are an unstoppable force now in teambattles. Ultimate dealing 50% damage to whole enemy team is a real killer. Your flux is REALY strong heal now, and does great amount of damage. A well placed Flux+Ulti can get your a quadra kill pretty easy.
Still even in late game, you are quite weak as 1v1 char. So dont roam alone.
Dont focus on your superior AoE power, try to heal as much as possible, specialy when tower killing. Try keeping your rageblade stacked before fluxing/ultimating.
If your team has AoE damager:
You can try FastForward tactic.
For those AoE'ers you command them to get their ulti (for Kharsus ulti than Defile) to jump in middle of the other team and start casting ulti. When they do you start casting your ulti. Multikills guaranteed.
This tactic works MIRACLES with Amumu and a little bit worse with Nunu (worse coz they will try to run away and spread) with Amumu they are just getting binded in place taking his AoE + Despair + Cloaks damage and they cant do anything. Games when 2 ppl kill whole oposing team are fun :)
Tried it also with Ryze on ultimate mode. Works also.
Sniping with Ultimate.
Its realy hard but rewarding method of killing players. Remember to shoot ppl on low health if there are at least 3 creeps near him that he is accualy killing (for carry chars it is way harder).
This works only in mid/late game.
When you saw teleporting char, and you have fair amount of AP already and you are not further away than middle of map (river) you can kill the champion by shooting ulti at their spawn point. They wont have the time to regenerate.
