Introduction

Hia, my name is Michael. I play on NA servers by the name of c0inb0y. I love Xin Zhao (along with some other champions) and wanted to help struggling players experience Xin and learn how to play him the way I do.

By building him in what some might call an unconventional way, his auto attacks become this ridiculous power house of damage, his abilities crush foes in your wake, and enemies flash at the site of you, making him a very scary opponent to the enemy.

Without further ado, enjoy and thank you for reading my guide!

Pros / Cons

Pros

+ Tons of Damage â„¢
+ Balanced build
+ Great gap closer
+ Jumps into the backline
+ Kills squshies
+ Sustains well in lane
+ Q + W + crit = GG
Xin Zhao is like a better/advanced Master Yi. Without knowing mechanics and how to position, this playstyle becomes very useless because you will get behind. He excels at getting into the backline or picking a target from a crowd. His Crescent Sweep brings fantastic utility to his kit; Ulting targets dashing to you ( Lee Sin), someone flashing on top of you, or even chasing at mach 10 ( Rammus), just ult and watch them fly away as you make your getaway.

Where Xin Zhao achieves greatness, he also fails. You will most likely NOT do well with this unless you have knowledge of how to act and play like a carry. In that case, he would be useless if he doesn't get fed. In the case you do decide to play Xin and have no idea how he works, you're out of luck when the jungler ganks you; he has no escapes (other than his Crescent Sweep). As for the actual laning phase, he will lose ro poke-heavy champions and anyone with hard initiates Malphite :^).
Cons

- Build needs knowledge of Mechanics/Positioning
- No escapes
- Useless if behind
- Will lose a lot of match ups

We're going to start Audacious Charge for its level one dominance but max Three Talon Strike. Xin's Three Talon Strike is the main damage dealer in our kit. Battle Cry follows up because of its strong sustain (I would suggest grabbing two points into Battle Cry if you really need the sustain, I.E. vs. Aatrox). Audacious Charge is maxed last only because it will be used for our gap closer. Of course you take a point in Crescent Sweep every chance you get.

Ability Combo

An ideal combo to pull off in lane would be to E>W>Q then R if we were to finish them. The reason you want to E first is to catch the enemy off guard and to lower the CD with your Qs.

This is the standard 21/9/0 masteries for any AD oriented champion.

Spells

Flash is the backbone spell for every champion in this game. It's a great escape and gap closer. Blink over a wall or flash Audacious Charge into their ADC.

Ignite is the bane of existence for any healer. Take it against Dr. Mundo or Soraka to counteract their heals. Set fire to foes for first blood.

If needed, I recommend ghost as well. I don't use it too much myself to brag about its pros.

Core Items

Core Items

*This goes over dream build, for more information about the other builds, look at notes.

Lesser movement speed compared to other boots; only boots to offer attack speed.

Replacements:
Boots of Swiftness
Mobility Boots

Ravenous Hydra is my AD replacement of Sunfire Aegis. As mentioned before, this build is meant for damage, Hydra will do just that, with a splash (wink) of AoE.

Statikk Shiv is the masterpiece of this build. Its stacks increase with movement or number of attacks. Xin Zhao has two attack speed steroids. Battle Cry for flat attack speed and Three Talon Strike to reset your auto attacks.

Trinity Force is the jack of all trades. Need damage? You get Sheen and extra AD. Need some attack speed? Zeal got you covered. Even need some movement speed? Phage.

Blade of the Ruined King (referred to BOTRK in this text) is your main item to burst down both tanks and squishy targets alike.
The active does a minimum of 100 physical damage to 10% of the enemy's HP to the target, just that alone is fantastic to dish out damage. A single hit will do 8% of the enemy's HP in physical damage. 8% of an average 2200 HP is 176 damage per hit, even though this is reduced with armor, it can still decimate enemy health bars.

Last Whisper is the best armor penetration item in the game. Giving percent armor pen means you can go through Rammus's 403 armor to 299 armor.
While this effect isn't a debuff to the enemy like Black Cleaver is, it gives more damage to you, making Last Whisper better than Black Cleaver in 1v1s.
