Mastery Tree Is Outdated
WARNING: These masteries are still using the old tree and have not been updated to the new tree by the guide author. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Masteries
Introduction and Runes
Hi, welcome to my
Veigar guide for Summoner's Rift Any Lane (Mid lane usually)
I like to play more and talk less so here it is. Enjoy and feel free to comment!
Runes:
As you can see above, I chose all flat AP runes (34 AP without masteries) so I can have enough damage at low level farming and maybe harassing enemy a little at that boring start of laning.
You can even get a lucky (or ganky:D) First Blood. Those are the reasons I never put other runes
on nuke mages.
Masteries
Mostly offensive AP Masteries with some basic defenses.
Improved Recall
to be back in base and in action a little faster.
Summoner's Wrath
to give your burst more damage through
Exhaust
Ignite bonuses.
Ignite 5 AD and 5 AP bonus while on cooldown is useful for farming.
Vigor
is good for that time when you are level 1-5 (and always 1 extra regen is better than 0) You can switch this with any other you think suites you best.
Items
Rush
Kage's Lucky Pick for the extra gold.
Get
Boots of Speed and don't worry about your move speed. You really don't need more.
Sapphire Crystal for mana (skip this for blue buff if you have good teammates)
Rylao's Crystal Scepter our first complete item to have more hp and slow when our stuns are not enough.
Rabaddon's Deathcap for more AP or
Ionian Boots of Lucidity first for the cdr and move speed (if you are always behind get boots even before finishing Rylai's)
Deathfire Grasp after Rabaddon's or before it (depends on gold, if enemy team is very tanky, if you think 4 damage spells asap is better for you)
Void Staff because you won't have much magic penetration (if you need the magic pen it will be at this time)
Archangel's Staff for a long game.
Skill Sequence
The skill sequence doesn't need much explanation, just make sure you max
Baleful Strike before anything else so you get more AP from last-hitting with it.
Then have longer stun duration from
Event Horizon before you have the max damage from
Dark Matter
Note:
Primordial Burst does more damage than
Dark Matter and
Baleful Strike combined when you use it on a mage.
Dark Matter does more damage than
Baleful Strike but is hard and slow to land it.
So your most useful spell is
Event Horizon :) so you make the very powerful 3 skill combo
E(stun) W-Q-R and Q again some times
Summoner Spells
Choice Spells
Exhaust
Ignite For Maximum single target damage possible.
Good Spells
Clarity
Flash For almost zero mana problems and the known escape
Useful Spells
Heal
Teleport For survival 'till u get the cd you want, fast return to farm and more
Not Bad (if you put a point in mastery for them)
Cleanse
Surge Really hard to make them useful but could be if you practice
Could use some times but never is more wise
Promote
Clairvoyance
Revive (if you are learning or like to get focused:D)
or if you play support
Veigar (did it once :D)
Use only if you troll! haha :P
Smite (combine it with
Revive and Ad Runes/Masteries for best results) lmao
Seriously never get
Smite
Creeping / Jungling / Farming Gold
Last-hit with
Baleful Strike as many times as possible but don't lose gold waiting for the cooldown. Last hit with anything when it is on cooldown because gold is more important really.
Use
Dark Matter for killing any number of minions mid-end game with 1 hit.
About jungle: Kill the big Golem as many times as possible, you can kill it fast after some good farming.
Don't be afraid to kill some wolves or wraiths if you can. You
Baleful Strike those for 100% last-hit.(no minions or enemy champs {usually} there :D)
If none else does get that Red Buff too. A little autoattck slow is never useless.
Pros / Cons (of this build as is)
Pros
- More HP
- 34%(with items and masteries)-40%(cap) Cooldown Reduction
- Slow your opponents with your spells from early game
- Enough AP at low levels for farm and harass
- 2-3 stuns! in a team fight instead of 1-2
- Farm faster
- Extreme single target focus damage
Cons
- Sometimes low on mana
- You can die as fast as you kill [Teemo] :)
- Low mobility
- Tanks laugh at you most of the time ^^
Team Work
In a team fight there are many situations
Veigar will be the key.
Try to stun the most fed enemies or their supports.
Nuke the ad carry or the ap carry if possible but don't be afraid to finish off a tank with your ultimate.
Generally you' ll try to spam all your skills without dying fast.
If your team can protect you for a second, many times it will become a 5v4 fight in your favor.
In your lane you have to be very careful of ganks so you don't die and lose your precious AP farming.
Summary
So there you have a
Veigar that can take some more damage than usual and use more spells in less time.
Thanks for reading and comment on anything to make it better or remind me of anything wrong on the build and on the guide.
Pick
Veigar and have fun in this great game.
P.S.
ss
Nunu!! :)
