Hi guys my name is starryfox (or Starfox911) and I'm a player on OCE. I was a Zyra mid main for most of season 5 and I have a very good understanding of how she works. She is a strong poke/burst champion similar to Ziggs. She also provides great utility to her team because of her w being used as a ward, her ult's massive knockup, and her e's snare. Her plants are EXTREMELY strong when used correctly. Zyra's matchups are mostly very easy as well.
Take Thunder lords decree as it is really good right now. I also like to take insight as 15% Cool down reduction on summoner spells is always good.
Zyra's build should always be focused around her poke. If you snare someone you should always be able to put your q and both plants down and halve their health easily. Magic Pen is useful and your build can vary depending on your situation.
Take whichever ability first as it suits the situation. Normally q first, then w, then e works. You should not go all in until you are at least level 3.
Your main damage spell is your q with your plant in it. The ranged q plant is best as it is ranged and the w does not cost anything to use. A basic combo for Zyra is w-e-w-q-r. She can destroy teamfights with her AOE damage.
