I started building this soon after Fizz was released. I was looking at his Seastone Trident ability and started wondering. If it deals extra magic damage that scales with ability power, wouldn't attack speed maximize the damage on fizz? It was a theory I never tested until recently, and it worked quite well!

The rune choices are chosen simply. Attack speed for the increased sustainability, and Ability Power for the increased damage on his Playful Trickster and Seastone trident. (And on the Q when you build Lich Bane)

Berserker's Greaves - Attack Speed.
Malady - The early 25 Ability Power and the 50% attack speed is unbeatable.
Rod of Ages - Ability power and HEALTH. Health is really important for Fizz as he has no survivability
Guinsoo's Rageblade - Ability Power and Attack Speed.
Nashor's Tooth - Ability Power and Attack Speed.
Lich Bane - Lich Bane is unique for Fizz because his Urchin Strike also does attack damage on hit, and will also use the Sheen / Lich Bane effect for a great burst!

I chose Seastone Trident first because this is what the build will focus around.

I chose Urchin Strike second because this will give Fizz some burst with the Sheen/Lich Bane

Playful/Trickster is upgraded last because it sucks up mana, and isn't really that useful expect for escaping/slowing.

Ghost - Increased movement speed. I think it suits Fizz best because he already has a free flash, which is Playful/Trickster.

Ignite - Ignite is useful as it can shut down heals like Mundo's Ultimate and Swain's Ultimate.

Possible Substitutes:

Flash - Teleports a player up to a range of 400. The same range as Playful/Trickster

Surge - Increases Ability Power and Attack speed based on level. I would choose this if I had to.

Pros:
Sustained Damage, not just burst.
Maximizes the effect of Seastone Trident.
Really chomps down on squishy characters.
Fizz can actually damage turrets!
Shreds in teamfights.

Cons:
O.K Survivability, Hardly the best.
Not Cheap.
