Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
The mystics of Ionia delve into the deepest mysteries of Valoran, pioneering the most inner depths of spirituality. Their adepts are some of the most devout proponents of enlightenment and harmony...but as is always the case, there are those who follow a very different path. Born in a grassy clearing under a red moon, Udyr has always been compelled by the primal drive within him. His will was not untempered, simply undomesticated. As a boy, he toiled on his father's farm, but he felt a much deeper connection with the mustangs that would graze in the distant fields than with the townsfolk who would visit. Oftentimes he was dragged into the house at night with a swat and a scolding when his parents would find him sleeping beneath the stars.
On the day of his sixteenth birthday, Udyr bade his family farewell and struck a path to the east, determined to shed the trappings of ''civilized'' society. Freed of the shackles of cultural expectations, Udyr tapped into a well of inner ferocity he hadn't known before. His feral senses roiled to the surface and he let them overcome him. It was at this point in his life that Udyr truly lost his humanity. Poachers and travelers who entered his territory did so at terrible risk, and rarely managed to leave it.
A monk on a long journey passed through his woods one day, and Udyr decided to scare him, leaping from a nearby brush. The monk casually turned and redirected Udyr to one side. Udyr, enraged, tried time and time again to best him, but the monk was unassailable. When Udyr was exhausted, the monk wordlessly beckoned him to follow, and together they walked in silence to the Hirana Monastery. The monks there took him in, and taught him to harness and control his animalistic fury...most of the time.
Monkey's Agility - Entering a stance grants Udyr 10% attack speed and 3% dodge for 5 seconds. This effect can stack.
This ability pretty well explains itself. IT IS WHAT MAKES UDYR. if you play this character, you HAVE to stance dance. I know that some people say that they make builds without using it, but no, this ability makes him amazing.
Tiger Stance - Tiger Stance: Activation - Udyr's next attack will deal a high amount of damage over 2 seconds (based on his attack damage). Persistent Effect - Udyr's attack speed is passively increased. In addition, Udyr splits his attacks into 3 lightning fast hits.
Persistent Effect: Udyr's attack speed is increased by 30/40/50/60/70%. In addition, Udyr splits his attacks into 3 lightning fast hits. On hit effects only trigger off the first hit.
Activation: On his next attack, Udyr swipes at his target, dealing 1.8/2.1/2.4/2.7/3 times his attack damage over 2 seconds as magic damage.
The general consensus is that this ability sucks. Its true. This ability has no benefit except for the minor DoT (which may give you a kill, but that is very rare). pretty well, it is useless.
Turtle Stance - Turtle Stance: Activation - Udyr gains a temporary shield that absorbs damage. Persistent Effect - Udyr's attacks cannot crit, but he restores his health and mana equivalent to a percentage of his damage dealt.
Persistent Effect: Udyr's attacks cannot crit, but he restores 12/14/16/18/20% of his damage as health and 9/10.5/12/13.5/15% of his damage as mana.
Activation: Udyr gains a temporary shield that absorbs 60/100/140/180/220 (+0.5) damage.
I must admit, I have underestimated this stance. I only attempted using it recently, and I find that it is actually amazing. the shield has the chance to save you, however with this build the life and mana regeneration isnt really useful. still, that shield is amazing.
Bear Stance - Bear Stance: Activation - Udyr gains a large movement speed increase for a short duration. Persistent Effect - Udyr's attacks stun his target for 1 second. This effect cannot occur on the same target for several seconds.
Persistent Effect: Udyr mauls his target with such force that they are stunned for 1 second. This effect cannot occur on the same target for 6 seconds.
Activation: Udyr gains 15/18/21/24/27% increased movement speed for 2/2.5/3/3.5/4 seconds.
This power makes Udyr save his team so often it is ridiculous. The stun and speed boost allows you to stop someone from chasing team mates, or stop someone from running away. It allows you to gank and run like a champ.
Phoenix Stance - Phoenix Stance: Activation - Udyr sends out pulsing waves of fire dealing damage to nearby foes for 5 seconds and has increased ability power and damage. Persistent Effect - Every fourth attack, Udyr engulfs enemies in front of him in flame.
Persistent Effect: Every fourth attack, Udyr engulfs enemies in front of him in flame, dealing 40/80/120(+0.25) magic damage.
Activation: Udyr sends out pulsing waves of fire dealing 15/25/35 (+0.25) magic damage each second to nearby enemies for 5 seconds. In addition, Udyr's ability power is increased by 16/24/32 and his attack damage is increased by half of that amount.
This ability allows Udyr to jungle like a champ. This ability early game kills enemy heroes in ganks, and is pretty well the core power for the laning phase of the game (despite the fact that you would be jungling).
Ghost allows you to gank very easily through the entire game, especially at the start when you pop it and Bear Stance. it also allows you to run away in the same manner.
Exhaust This spell is able to slow down someone you and your team are chasing, or slow someone you are running from. it also allows you to make right clickers useless while you proceed to kill them.
Udyr is probly one of the best utility champs in the game. while he doesn't have buffs or debuffs like Karthus' wall or Nasus' slow, he has the ability to stun and entire team one by one and then again, while putting out decent to great damage and enduring a LOT of punishment. withInnervating Locket, you bring quick hp and mana regen to everyone around you and you're a good choice to be the "aura sl*t" (the champ who gets the aura items for the benefit of the team).
Udyr's strength lies in the "stance-dance", meaning you will endelessly spam your stances so you get the benefits from them all the time, keeping your turtle shield up, while b*tch-slapping the entire enemy team.
Master the timing of the stance-dance, and you master the animal spirit.
