Spells

Smite and Flash: Basic summoners that are the most adaptable to game and will probably your most taken.


Exhaust and Smite: Very Situational pair of summoners on Maokai,very useful against heavy auto attack dependent teams or against really burst teams

Runes

I use these runes to help clear camps while getting decent ganking with good tank. In teamfights this will give you the tank your need and do some damage.

Masteries

I use these masteries to take advanatge of the Cooldown Reduction while dealing a little bit of damage while being tanky. In teamfights the Cooldowns and Tank will help initiate and support your allies.

Skill Sequence

Q: This skill has a good built in knock back and slow, I max this first to get some damage output and help secure kills for my laners

W: This skill's snare is nice for ganking so I take at level 3 and max it last, it helps you get in range easily to proc your Iceborn Gauntlet or Randuin's easily allowing for good initiation or gank.

E: This is a small AOE explosion that does magic damage, I max this second to clear the jungle faster and provide some damage while ganking my lanes

R: This is an AOE circle that can provide massive damage or excellent protection for your team, it's best to save for when peeling as it reduces damage by a lot.

Pros:
Amazing Ganks
Excellent Teamfighter with his CC Team being in his ult makes them
Good Tank


Cons:
Long-ish cooldowns (This build tries to prevent this)
Allies within the ult are prone to enemy AOE
Easily Invaded

Overall tanky build with Many built in slows making this build a good teamfight build, depending on the enemy team. The build works in many cases

Farming

With the new golem item you can use about 3/2 spells per camp without depleting your mana bar, this will just put it at half and with the regen of the new golem it'll be alright.

Team Work

Be the initiator for your team using all your Randuin's and Iceborn after you enter their team. After that with the short-ish cooldowns you have due to the build and the mana you can either stay in the middle of their team with the ult and continue to slow them or you can start peeling for your adc

Creeping / Jungling

Safe jungle as long as you're not invaded but you can easily get help from your lanes and negate the invade with your cc and possibly burn a summoner or get a kill
