4. This guide reflects how I like to play Galio - and how this build has helped my team win many games.

5. Please do not rate without trying the build first, if you try it - and it doesn't work tell me who, what, where, when, why, and how it doesn't.

My personal favorites:

This is a matter of preference for me, I usually save this for team fights right after I use my ultimate.


Essential to getting your ultimate off at times, Galio doesn't have the fastest run speed in the game so having a way to position yourself to ult is highly recommended.



OTHER SUMMONER SPELLS THAT WILL WORK:


is a good option too if you feel like you just aren't able to get through the first wave of CC to get your ultimate off.


I've designed the build to NOT have any mana problems. But if mana management is an issue for you then use this instead.


, , , all offer some good utility.


, - they are a waste for Galio and I'd never recommend using them. Period.

Here is my favorite choice of runes for Galio:


+0.95 Magic Pen
+0.065 mana regen / 5 sec. per level (+1.17 at champion level 18)
-0.05% cooldowns per level (-0.9% at champion level 18)
-0.13% cooldowns per level (-2.34% at champion level 18)


This is my alternative rune selection:


+0.07 magic resist per level (1.26 at champion level 18)
+0.065 mana regen / 5 sec. per level (+1.17 at champion level 18)
+0.12 magic resist per level (2.16 at champion level 18)
+0.37 magic resist per level (6.66 at champion level 18)


The scaling MR is awesome for getting about +3 MR per level, which in turn gives you 1.5 AP per level. Only downside is losing the Magic Pen and the CDR as a trade-off.


I understand that not every player reading this guide may not have acquired all the runes listed - that's fine.

Work with what you got.



NEVER USE THESE RUNES ON GALIO:

I never put any points into Evasion or Nimbleness due to the fact that the dodge stat is counter-productive to Galio's Ultimate:



Instead I choose to invest points into Strength of Spirit and Menders Faith.


The rest is pretty self explanatory.

I start with and x3 .


Why not instead?
By all means - you can, but that's just additional farming you will have to do to acquire your first item.


***I feel that it is a waste of gold early game***



is the first item I try to complete.


***Galio moves very slow, the sooner you get boots the better***


After laning for awhile I usually buy: x3 x3 and Sight Wardx1 or a if they have eve/twitch/shaco.


***Galio is a semi-squishy and if you are in a lane with aggressive enemy champions, they will come in handy.***


Next I rush Catalyst the Protector - the extra hp & mana early game for Galio is imperative.


Then -


Now - you have the option to complete


Or work towards .


The extra Health, HP/Mana Regen is awesome!
(no more potions after this point are needed)


In addition, the active ability can be used in conjunction with to chase down that enemy with low hp to secure a kill.


If you haven't - finish - the ability will come in handy in team fights.


is usually next on my list - a Tank with BV and GA is very intimidating to any team - also improves your chances of coming out on top and alive in a team fight.


***Now depending on what type of team you are facing... your last two items will vary accordingly.***


If you are facing an AD heavy team:


+ = High amounts of damage!!!


is a good option if your enemies have stacked attack speed or have .


isn't a bad choice either.



If you are facing an AP heavy team:


- Awesome HP Regen, +8% move speed, and +76 MR = +38ap bonus from


- Can't go wrong with more MR on Galio, (Converts to about 28AP + 70 AP = 98 AP!!! Not to mention the Aura adds insult to injury when you land your ultimate on those annoying AP hero's!


is a viable choice for team support - I don't like how low the stats are on this item, but its your choice.


Finally:


I like to wrap things up with - the extra hp/mana and ability power is a nice finishing touch to my build.


***Especially if you have a long stale-mate thats drawing the game out***


Ultimately - Galio is in your hands, use your best judgment.


Think outside the box!

Galio is a BOSS at farming in lane!


Once Resolute Smite is level 3 and Righteous Gust is level 2 They can be used in conjunction one right after another for a HUGE amount of damage early game, even enough to clear almost entire waves of minions!


In a 6 game span with Galio I averaged about 191.5 minions per match.

Ranked play - untested, but I'll post results as soon as possible.

Overall this build is meant to solve the 3 major problems Galio has:

1. Stats (hp/mana/hp5/mp5)
2. Survivability (Armor/MR)
3. Mobility (Movespeed/Escape)

Sidenote: Although Riot tried to balance the Survivability & Mobility with:


and


In most games, those abilities alone are often not enough for you and your team to escape alive if you lose a team fight.


Don't just take my word for it - TRY IT OUT!
You will be pleased with the results as long as your team is not constantly feeding and/or does not consist of 10 year olds with an IQ of < 70.
