Overview:

I play Galio as a support tank. He is an excellent farmer who can also turn the tide of a fight with a well timed and placed Ultimate. His Righteous Gust and Bulwark can help save team members from ganks when used properly.

Abilities:

Resolute Smite: Skill shot nuke. AoE. Damages and slows all affected targets. Your primary harassment ability as well as great for slowing enemy champs.

Bulwark: Increases a friendly champions armor and magic resist. When they get hit while affected by Bulwark, you will be healed for a small amount. I don't get this until late as you really don't have the mana to be using it too much early and his other abilities are better.

Righteous Gust: Another skill shot ability. This shoots a gust of wind in a line where you aim. It will damage enemies and also leave a trail that moving in will increase you or a friendly champions movement speed. This is not only great for catching but also running away from people, so don't be afraid to shoot it at nothing to give yourself or a friend a boost of speed away from the enemy.

Idol of Durand: Fun ability. Taunts all enemies in its area of effect. After a few seconds you will explode and damage all of them. The more they wailed on you while they are taunted the harder they will get hit. You also take reduced damage during the taunt. I use this in a similar way that I would use Amumu's Ultimate in teamfights. Also great if someone gets careless near a turret early on for an easy kill. Just flash on top of them and Ult.


Purchases:

Start with a Meki and a couple of pots. As soon as you have enough for Chalice go back and buy it. This build will be mana hungry early on and you will want this as soon as possible. Then pretty much just follow the items in order. You can pick up the boots before the Rod of Ages if you feel like being faster a little sooner. You will obviously need to sell Chalice if you get a long enough game to pick up Guardian Angel.

Game Flow:

Try to lane with a good harasser who isn't going to also be mana starved early. Try to talk them into picking up a Mana Manipulator :P. If you are going to take mid picking up Teleport is not a bad idea so you can buy/get mana and come back fast. Use Smite to harass when you can but make every one count. You can also use this to last hit minions if you want but watch your mana until you pick up the Chalice.

Once you are in the mid-game you can easily farm mobs by using Smite + Gust on the same group. This will kill the Wolves and Wraiths every time. You can also target the caster minions in the enemy waves and this combo will get you all of the money from them as well.

Your ult is obviously a great help in team fighting mid-late game so try to farm/lane while still being in a position to help out your team. This is another reason Teleport is not a bad option for this build. Flash is not only great for escaping when you get caught in a tough spot but can also be used to set up a great AoE Taunt that the other team isn't expecting.

Summoner Abilities:

I use Ignite and Flash on almost everything I play, so I am partial to that combo. Teleport is a good option on this champ as mentioned earlier. Ghost is also fine as it helps with both escaping and setting up your Ult. You may be tempted to take Clarity especially for early on but I don't find myself using it mid-late game at all as Rod of Ages + Chalice should keep you going easily. Just get past those first few levels and you will be fine on mana.
