I just wanted to point out that your guide's projected stats has a small mistake with the listed AP, as with the 300+ magiresi, and the passive, you should have well over the listed 70

That is arguably true, although taking the Grail would sacrifice some defense gained from a different item. 36 magic resist is pretty token; the grail's intent is obviously AP and mana regen.

On the subject, if one intends to keep the Chalice to build into the Grail at what point in the build should this be done, and what item should be sacrificed in return for both caster and melee heavy teams?

I think that the new item Athene's Unholy Chalice makes Chalice of Harmony a viable item to keep for the whole game and as it just came out today should be added to the list of items that every Galio player should have.

I really like the build you've got going here, I give it a thumbs up.

what i would change are your seals, one mastery point and starting item. I used to oom a lot but if you roll a maki pendant instead of the cloak (yes you lose 24 MR (about 6% reduced damage) and 12 AP (about 9 damage a spell)) you gain 7.5 MP5 which is an extra spell every 30 seconds and early game that's only every 3 casts of resolute smite. If you get the seals of clarity instead by level 4 you'll have way more mana regen and if you lose one point in the defense tree for the last mana regen point in utility you'll see the difference.

Why? because getting rid of clarity as a summoner spell is well worth it! Ignite or exhaust are better for getting kills if you have the mana although i always role Clairvoyance because in my opinion next to flash it's the best spell in the game for tank/supports.

Well done regardless. +1

For any tanking champion, a Guardian's Angel isn't a good idea since the enemy team won't necessarily target you for a few reasons, 1) You're tank so you don't do a heep of damage, 2) GA will just bring you back to life to tank them even more, and 3) You'll be the last one targeted normally for the reason previously stated. But with Galio, a GA actually seems like a good idea especially if you last second ult with low health, and manage to do a chunk of damage from it before dying, just to come back up and tank some more.

Just so you know, a good combo is W+R. You can use W on yourself, then press R to actually GAIN health from the enemies attacking you. it's a very good combo.
