First of all, i want to you guys know that my English is not good, but i want to give it a try and help players that want to play with Galio.

Hi! and welcome to my first guide, in this case i'm going to help you guys with Galio. Whether you have never played with Galio or you want to improve yourself with this amazing champion.

About me

I'm 21 years old from São Paulo - Brazil. My summoner name is tAipan and i started playing League on the US server at the beginning of Season 3 and now playing on the BR server.
My first MOBA was Heroes of Newerth also knew as HoN, after playing for while i decided to play with my friends some game called League of Legends, and since then i can't stop playing.

Pros

+ Good against Heavy AP team;
+ His ultimate Idol of Durand can destroy the other team and is good for wombo combo(Miss Fortune, Jhin, Viktor, and etc);
+ Bulwark Can protect an ally and heal you at the same time;
+ Righteous Gust increase movement to all the allies, even for minions that can be used to get closer the turrets more faster.

Cons

- His ultimate Idol of Durand Can be interrupted if placed badly, and receive hard CC (stun, silence, fear e etc).
- Have problems with mana in the early game;
- Long cooldowns;
- You need at least 3 items before 30min, because after that Galio can be useless, his Power Spike is between 18min to 30min (mid game).

Runic Skin - Galio gains 50% of his magic resist as AP. His passive is the main reason that Galio can a good counter against AP champions, and also a good tank.


Resolute Smite - Slow the enemy and deals damage to the enemies inside or near the impact location. Also strongest form of poke from his kit.


Bulwark - Galio shields a friendly champion for 4 seconds, increasing their Armor and Magic Resistance (LVL5 = 90) and when the unit suffers damage, Galio is healed, depending on the level of this skill and the amouth AP he have, and -20% healing for each consecutive hit.


Righteous Gust - Galio unleashes a gust that deals damage to the enemies and increase movement speed to the allies (even minions) that passes through.


Idol of Durand - A supreme taunt skill, that makes Galio channels for 2 seconds, taunting nearby foes and reducing 50% of incoming damage. In the end of his taunt, deals magic damage to every surrounding enemy inside his taunt plus an additional 10% damage for each attack suffered while channeling.

Situacional

- I specifically prefer other item over Guardian Angel at the most of my games, but Guardian Angel can be good to you and your team, for example: they can help you after you already have started an engage and casually dying.

- Banner of Command, can be pretty good against some champions, especially if you're against AP champions (Lissandra, Rumble, Vladimir, Nautilus and others champions), simplifying champions that have more damage on their abilities.

Tankiness

- I've seen some Galio players, using but i haven't tried yet.

- This item it's pretty good for Galio, making him much faster and giving goods stats agains AD Champions.

More Damage

- Rylai's it's a good item just for his stats, but the passive help Galio to get closer

- Void Staff will help you to deal more damage against a comp with at least 2 tanks.

- One of the items that i think will be useless if you're thinking to be the tank of your team, but if you get feed and want to snowball the game much faster, this item can help you.

- Abyssal almost everytime can be one of the core items of Galio, but i prefer Spirit Visage only, giving the stats to counter mage's and tank's, Abyssal will help you too.

- Black Shield Can protect Galio when his go to ult, and shen can ult when his ult has finished;

- Rumble can use his The Equalizer to combo;

- Brand can practically burst the whole team with his skills while everybody is inside Galio ultimate;

- Can use his ultimate to increase the chances to Galio engage the other team or try to burst someone inside the Idol of Durand;

- MF can be good even when Galio is a support on her team, but the main reason is use her ultimate like everybody else.

Note: Any of these champions can destroy your game, and picking Galio can make your game goes wrong. But feel free to try to play against them, always remember to use Idol of Durand when them already used their CC or try to engage really fast.

Most of the supports has a style to protect their AD Carry, but also to force the engage. And that can be main reason why the most annoying indirect counters are supports.

- Her kit can destroy Idol of Durand or even your engage, if her stay away from your the ultimate. Her ultimate can be used in someone inside and stun you.
- Even when Bard is on your team, he can be a tricky champion, because he can help to engage with his E but also cancel Idol of Durand with his ultimate.
- Her ultimate can throw you away, and her Q can cancel your ultimate as well, but not annoying as lulu.
- This big fella can stun you, if Idol of Durand catches him. But you can wait after being already stunned by him and then try to ult.
- She can save everyone with her silence or ultimate protecting everyone for the damage taken.
