The Story Of Gangplank
Gangplank was born the son of the dread pirate captain Vincent the Shadow - one of the most wealthy and feared pirates in all of Blue Flame Island. One might think this would have spoiled the boy with a cushioned life of privilege, but the truth is quite the opposite. Growing up in the city of Bilgewater isn't easy; pirates are not known for their compassion, and that most certainly extends to their families. Vincent wanted his son to grow up tough and strong, so he was extremely hard on the young Gangplank. Even as a child, Gangplank was as mean as a snake and is said to have slept with his eyes open. As he grew, the young man rapidly became the most ruthless and feared pirate in all of Bilgewater, and his daddy was never more proud than on the day of his son's eighteenth birthday - when Gangplank stabbed his old man in the back and claimed the famed pirate ship, the Dead Pool, for his own.
The continent of Valoran, however, is a dangerous place for pirates; Gangplank could read the writing on the wall. The den of pirates known as Bilgewater would soon be pulled down by the undertow of Valoranian politics and the Institute of War. It was time for Bilgewater to have their own champion to represent them in the League of Legends, and who better than the fiercest pirate of them all? It is said that Gangplank has enough power and favor to claim the title of the Pirate King back home, but that he is simply biding his time and building his reputation as a champion before he returns to a life of piracy.
Yo ho, blow the man down. Or at least shoot him when his back is turned and steal all his booty.
The runes I use for Gangplank are Critical Chance Runes.
The reason I use these runes is because the skill that does the most damage is Parrrley, To maximize the damage from Parrrley you have to make it a Crit.
If you Crit Parrrley you can easily hit ½ to even ¾ of a caster or dps his health.
Also Gangplank can use these runes for his auto attack.
Late game when Gangplank has almost all of the items I showed you he will also do insane damage with his auto attack. The damage of his auto attack can almost be equal to the auto attack of a Tryndamere.
So if you play Gangplank the way I play him and you want to make many kills use these runes to insure your Crit Parrrley but also your Crit Auto Attack.
That’s why I’ve picked these runes.
To assist the runes and the items you buy there are masteries to set.
If you set the masteries like I’ve done you will maximize Crit and it will help you do a lot of other damage too. So what I’m basically trying to say is that Gangplank is all about Crit Chance and Crit Damage.
When you manage to Crit every Parrrley you will be at your best.
In a Lane, early game with the runes and masteries set you’ll be able to harass very much because of the high damage and I’m not even speaking about the nice range Parrrley has. So you’ll be forcing back the enemy champions which means you’ll be able to out level them or even get fed by killing them.
The items I’ve picked and the Sequence are based on the amount of money you will earn and how much they are necessary. Once you get all the items I’ve picked you will do insane damage and when you have a tank that will allow you to damage because of a taunt or a stun you’ll be in high advantage.
And when you have The Bloodthirster you’ll be able to enter a 1 vs 2 and winning it easily by using ur ulti and hitting them with Parrrley and auto attacks.
The skill sequence is based on how to do the most damage with your Parrrley.
When you follow this Skill Sequence you’ll notice that you’ll have a easy time laneing if you don’t have a random failing team. The base of the Sequence is to get Parrrley as high possible to maximize your damage.
I will give you info about the skills.
Gangplank will shoot with his gun from some distance and will deal high damage to the one who’s shot, if it crits the damage will even be higher.
Gangplank will eat a citrus fruit that will heal Gangplank but it will also remove Stuns, so if you get stunned by any champion use your W skill to get out of the stun.
Raise Moral will give Gangplank extra Movement Speed and Attack Damage to Gangplank and the half to nearby Allied Champions.
Cannon Barrage is the ulti of Gangplank and is usable everywhere on the map, The ulti slows and hits the champions standing in its range. Very useful for assisting other laneing champions or help yourself escape or help yourself when you are chasing a champion with low health.
The Summoner spells I use are Flash and Exhaust.
Why, ill tell you. Gangplank doesn’t have problems finishing a champion so Ignite isn’t necessary. Also the other skills are not of any help.
The only other skill that could be useful is Ghost but the reason I didn’t pick Ghost is because of Gangplanks movement speed. Gangplank will have an amazingly large moment speed mid to end game because of Raise Morale but also because of the items. So for escape, Flash is the best option. And for chasing or fleeing exhaust comes in handy because when your ulti is on cool down, early game before you even have your ulti you’ll be having problems chasing and killing enemy champions. That’s why Exhaust will help you getting kills easier.
Gangplank is a close ranged champion who has a ranged skill that does insane damage. To trigger the damage you need Crit chance and Crit damage.
That’s why u use the runes I posted and the masteries I’ve selected.
Gangplank is able of assisting every champion on the map with his ulti, rather it is helping your allies escape or attack or even gank the ulti of Gangplank will be of great use for the team.
When you get stunned you can use your W skill to escape the stun and get to safety or attack the stunner.
Gangplank is a good farmer because you’ll have some extra mana from the begin item and you’ll be able to use your Parrrley to last hit minions.
Gangplank is great at raping turrets and assisting the team because of Raise Morale.
Pros / Cons
- Good at laning early and mid game.
- Good at assisting with ulti.
- Good at assisting the team with Raise Morale.
- Good at turret raping.
- Good at minion farming.
- Good at Harassing.
- You’ll get focused
- No escape skill (except ulti and that’s a waste to use for escape but ok)
- Thorn mail will be a problem (until you get Bloodthirster)
Teamwork with Gangplank is very important because Gangplank must get the possibility to unleash his damage that’s why a good team and most importantly a good tank is needed. When Gangplank gets the opportunity to do damage by cause of his tank, the tank has done a good job.
The characters where Gangplank are good with are: Karthus, Gallio, Leona etc.
Mostly tank but also some casters.
Gangplank has an unique skill named Remove Scurvy.
That spell can remove a stun which is very handy in combat against several tanks and some casters. That skill is a lifesaver for Gangplank because it also gives health. The health you gain is not some Soraka heal but it is enough to stop an Ignite casted at you when your near death. So this skill gives Gangplank more Utility which he needs badly because he has no escape.
Gangplank is a born farmer.
Why? Because he has Parrrley.
The cool down is so low that he can use it a lot to last shot minions or even champions. Also because you get a Sapphire Crystal first you’ll be able to farm more easily. Also his poisonous blades help a lot against minions.
And when he has some items he will farm minions like it is nothing.
I’m sorry to say this, I may insult many people but.
I Think Gangplank is not the jungling type.
Gangplank can jungle at level 4, that's the best level for him to start jungling.
If you start jungling with gangplank keep an eye open at your lane.
That's the best advise I can give every person who’s jungling.
Why, I doesn’t concern a team member failing but it can be very good opponent who knows how to handle a 2 vs 1. So take care of your lane first, that's the most important.
A good jungler don’t let his turret get destroyed.
If your planning to jungle pick someone like Udyr but no Gangplank.
If you still want to jungle I wont stop you.
So to prevent you of failing in the jungle with Gangplank I searched for a good jungling video and I found it. Here it is.
Many people worry to much about playing ranked.
The thing I care most about is having fun even if I'm losing, having fun is the most important. If you play Gangplank Ranged just play relaxed.
Stay calm, nothings happening just play as your used to.
That's the best piece of advise for ranked.
