Why I play Jungle Maokai

I'm making this guide just because there doesn't seem to be a decent Jungle Mao guide here on mobafire.

I tried jungle Maokai out as a joke 2 weeks ago, and I've been playing him ever since.

His ganks are absolutely ridiculous.
You have a root, a small nuke that chases the enemy, and a knock up.
It's almost impossible to not get firstblood.

Runes/Masteries

I play 9/0/21 with AP Quints, Marks, and Seals. And flat mana Glyphs.

Having 26 AP and 101 extra mana starting the game is just insane.

Jungling/Ganking

Start the game and run to your blueside river.
Throw a sapling in the riverbush as a ward asap.
When the clock hits 1:18 start stacking saplings on bluebuff.
You'll need a teammate to hit blue a few times, leashing/pulling is nearly impossible because the saplings explode as soon as they detect bluebuff's spawn.

Make sure your teammates leave by the time blue is at about 1/4th health, and when they are out of xp range smite it.

Hit the wolf camp.
Throw a sapling in the middle of the wraiths and arcane smash, if you do it right you should kill the camp instantly.
Hit the golem camp, (smite should be on cd for the first golem) smite the second golem.

Gank top if you are purple team, gank bottom if you are blue team.
Warp in on the squishiest champion with your W, throw a sapling with E, then walk in front of them and blow the back with your Q.

Maintain blue and roam, ganking any of the 3 lanes.

Items

I take clotharmor 5healthpots because it gives you just enough sustain to finish a loop around the jungle and have enough health to gank.

I pick up boots of mobility as soon as possible after to start roaming.

Frozen heart is just a solid item. 99 armor makes you pretty tanky. With the CRD from bluebuff and frozen heart your cooldowns are extremely low. You get a mana boost, and you get the slow aura that benefits everyone around you.

The slow from rylai's makes enemy escape impossible without flash.

At this point you can pretty much decide your own route. I like taking a little extra armor and AP in Zonya's. My games typically end by this point
