I aim to be a tank and a ganker for my team.

Runes - Masteries

I use defence runes because I want to be tanky, they are also common for jungling.

This immense help allows to stay in lane without minding about the minions hitting you and also allows excelent harrass.

If the opposing team has a jungler and yours does not, you can leave the lane at level 1-2-3 to help your team get more xp.

In defence I go for damage reduction from minions and not speed above 70% health, but i make sure to take movement speed bonus from utility tree.

Items

This set of items and their purchase order give Gankplank a lot of survivability.
He can be in the battlefield for ever if he has mana (stealing the enemy's blue is always nice).
Aim of items is to have critical chance and life. With this build, at 25 minutes of game you have 43% chance to critical hit about 260 damage. Not bad
Warmog-atmas is a perfect set of items for the Pirate.

Skill Sequence

IF JUNGLE:
Only in the jungle, I start with (E) Raise Morale, activating it before starting to clear a mob.

IF LANE:
I max Parley at level 9 and try only to last hit with it as long as I an in lane.
To harrass i try to keep stacks of Gankplank's passive on the enem,y if I solo top against solo.

At level 2 I usually go for Remove Scurvy to have a cleanse and heal.
On the other hand, if my lane for example gets first blood and is doing really well at 2-3 mins of game, I might decide to get Raise Morale to help me attack their tower, usually get Remove Scurvy at 3, or if I am doing perfect at level 4.

I level both W and E almost together to lower cooldowns and get benefits for low mana. Prioritizing E is nice to move around, usually not activating it at all, but I the enemies are doing well, I level W just to heal more and sooner.

Summoner Spells

If I am solo top I always use teleport.
Flash is always usefull to have.
Other options are smite, ghost, heal, surge.
Dont take cleanse, you have one already.

Farming

ratio of last autoattacked minions to parleyed minions 1:1 at least gives a lot of gold.
