Hey guys

This is my first build for Garen The might of Demacia and a short guide with it

Garen was the first Champion I bought and still is one of my favorites

Please honestly rate this guide and If you have any sugestions leave them in the comments

P.S. I apologise for the grammar mistakes You WILL find in this guide

Pros:
1 Insane damage
2 Great early game
3 Pretty durable even in DPS build
4 Quite easy to learn and master
5 Judgment- awesome AOE damage PLUS escape mechanism
6 DEMACIAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!
7 No Mana Baby

Cons
1 Melee-easy to harass
2 Cooldowns are a bit long
3 If going for the tank build damage will be not as high
4 No crowd control abilities (stun snare slow etc.)
5 Not the best initiator

Because the Pros greatly outweigh the Cons Garen is a really strong champ :)

Greater Mark of Desolation Garen is nearly all physical damage champ so armor pen. is a must

Greater Seal of Cooldown Reduction-To ease the pain of cooldowns

Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction-Again cooldowns

Greater Quintessence of Health-Flat health for more survival early

All runes that give critical chance are good alternatives because Judgment's damage is increased from critical hit chance Cool huh? :)

All runes that give CD reduction all are possible

Dodge seals and quintessences are possible tho be sure to change your masteries to 20-9-1 to max dodge's effectiveness

23-6-1

I make Masteries really offencive taking all damage masteries in offence, some armor and magic resist. in defense and inproved ghost in utility

Ghost and Ignite

I actualy prefer ghost over flash since you'l will get way more use from ghost since of flash short range and long cooldown. PLUS ghost helps initiate better

Alternatives

Flash-if you really want it replace ghost with it

Exhaust-a good Summoner spell you can replace either of the two

Cleanse- a reasonable spell though you have Judgment

Fortify- Tank Garen ONLY

Teleport Use full for map control though DPS Garen is fast enough for that

The rest have no or very little uses for Garen

Perseverance An awesome passive 0.5% per second can really help you stay in a lane for long


Decisive Strike Your first ability. Gives you additional movement speed as well as enhancing your next basic attack to deal bonus physical damage and silence an enemy PLUS can be used to last hit minions.

Courage Your second ability. It's passive gives you 0.5 armor and magic resistance at a max of 25 you can activate it to reduce incoming damage.

Judgment Your third and main ability. Garen starts spinning like crazy while dealing great damage to enemy around him. This ability also removes all cc effects on you and reduces the duration of incoming ones by 50%

Demacian Justice Garen's ultimate ability. Deals damage to an enemy champion. The damage increases the more health the enemy champion has lost.

Garen is pretty diverse when it comes to items here's a list of the best possible build


Tank Build

Doran's Shield-> Mercury's Treads-> Thornmail-> Force of Nature-> Sunfire Aegis-> Frozen Mallet

While the damage will not be as high, your survivability will be great enough to compensate

DPS build

Doran's Shield-> Boots of Swiftness-> Youmuu's Ghostblade-> Frozen Mallet-> Infinity Edge-> Bloodthirster

Youmuu's Ghostblade is the best item for Garen because it gives him everything he need s-damage CD reduction Critical chance and even armor pen plus a great active that gives a lot of speed

Why Frozen Mallet SLOW that's why

for those who didn't play with Garen here a little surprise Judgment does increased damage when you have crit chance and the more you have the more bonus you will get Do the math :)

You can replace Bloodthirster for Last Whisper for more armor pen if you want to

If you are playing the tank Garen your role is obvious Tank Duh :)

However if you are playing DPS Garen your role is this ANIHILATE squishies and mages

During a team fight rush toward their squishies with Ghost+ Decisive Strike Silence them unleash Judgment. That usually kills them. I tend to save Demacian Justice for situations that really need it like you need to kill them quickly or he running away or other stuff like that.

Garen really excels at the early game here's some help with this


1 Judgment damage is capped on minions so you deal only 50% of the damage to them

2 You can last hit minions with Decisive Strike if you want to

3 Try to kill a lot of minions early to max Courage

Not only is Garen a great laner on his own, with the right teammate you can really dominate your lane

Champions WITH GOOD CC

These Champs help leave your victims helpless to your Judgment and are a great help to your killing spree

Carries

Another great matchup with two butchers ruling a lane your enemies will bang their heads against a wall somewhere Trust me :)

Supports

Certain supports are great for Garen such as Kayle (damage) Morgana (Snare,Shield) Janna (Shield,Damage,Passive) Shen (Taunt, Vorpal Blade) and Taric (Stun,Heal,Def.Aura)

This is a list of those champs that Garen should fight accordingly

Tanks

These champs are durable and are hard to punch through with your abilities early avoid going against them.


Supports

Able to deal damage and avoid yours they can be a real pain in the ***.:)

This list will show enemies Garen annihilates easily


squishy Champs

Since Garen can deal awesome damage early this type of champs fall quite quickly to him

Weak early game Champs

They're weak early dangerous late crack them open early to win
