Introduction
I've updated it after having played around a bit more with top lane Tank builds for AD champs. This build also works on Lanewick, and sort of works on AD Shyvana.
Next comes a real damage item. There's only room for one in this build, so we're going with another standard, Infinity Edge. It's a beast of a weapon for AD champs. There are only two weapons n the game that give more AD, Ravenous Hydra and a fed Bloodthirster; even then Bloodthirster has the same starting AD bonus. However, once you factor in the Crit Chance and Crit damage bonuses it allows you to put out way more damage than either of those items ever would.
As Garen falls off late game, we need to switch roles back to being a tank. First of is Warmogs armour. 1000 HP is not to be laughed at, just ask any Cho'Gath player with full Feast stacks. This will also boost the passive of Atma's Impaler to give you more AD (and thus begins the Snowball). Finally, you're going to start facing increasing amounts of damage from carries, so you'll need more resistances. For this we'll be using Randuin's Omen and Spirit Visage. The HP bonuses will help boost the passive on Atma's, they both offer a large amount of damage resistance and the healing boost and CDR on Spirit Visage is a nice added bonus. You can swap Spirit Visage for Banshee's Veil if you want even more protection, but you will lose out on CDR.
And there you have it.
Next you will need to grab a level of Garen's best ability, Judgement. This will helps with farming creeps and will provide you with a little extra poke. If you fire it off at the right time and activate Decisive Strike just after it can save you from early ganks. you'll want to max this ability first as it will be providing you with most of your damage output.
At level 3 you'll want to put a point into Courage to get the passive armour and MR buff. You'll want to max this skill last as the shield is nice, but you should have enough protection from items
Obviously you will want to take Demacian Justice whenever it is available.
For your other spell, you're going to want either Ghost or Flash. Ghost is good for chasing, especially if your target tries to hide behind creeps. Flash is good for getting yourself out of trouble (in my last test game with this build it saved me from Nunu's ultimate). I'd recommend Flash over Ghost, but if you're up against a predominantly ranged team, you may find ghost works better.
