Introduction

Hello and thank you for taking the time to look at my guide for Garen, The Might of Demacia! Garen is one of the first champions I ever played on League of Legends and he has remained one of my favorites since. While his play style and skills are pretty straight forward, he is still a very fun and rewarding champion to play! My particular build for Garen has been developed over time and experience. While I am still exploring new options, these are the two builds I currently use.

I believe that Garen should be played as either a tanky dps or pure tank. He's skills best suit these two roles. So I focus my Runes, Masteries, and Items around heavy damage early game, while having good survivability late game. Movement speed is also a big component of Garen's play style. Nearly all of your damage requires you to be in melee range of your opponent. Thus, being able to keep up with them is highly important.

Pros / Cons

PROS:

    *Very High Sustained Damage Early Game
    *Great Combination of Damage and Survivability Late game
    *Very good at taking down both AD and AP carries during team fights
    *Very good against most Solo Top Melee champs.

CONS:
    *Very vulnerable to kiting.
    *Very vulnerable to CC.
    *At a disadvantage when skills are on Cooldown.
    *Hard to carry when you are the only one fed on your team.
