Garen Build Guide by Shaxys

Great guide. When I first bought Garen I tried some of the other builds and couldnt get anything to work. This one works perfecting if you understand how to play Garen. Last 4 games went 9-1, 20-5, 5-4, and 6-0. Also these are not kill steals, mostly ganks and chasing one on one (and teamfights). Overall good job.

offtank with 125 armor? cmon now

No. 156 armor. Garen's W and masteries are not counted into the cheat sheet. + the fact that Garen's active W part gives him up to 36% damage reduction, which makes alot of armor/mr useless.

Well, that's quite the idea actually! Also, I've come to the point of changing my Garen build almost fully through. The last patch changed Garen quite a bit, and I feel my build is somewhat outdated, both what it comes to in the game and according to my game style. He is also a pretty strong and possible jungler now! And as I love jungling, I will try to change this build, so it's also involving a jungling build, and perhaps a guide. The summer hasn't given me too much time to change all of this, and now in the beginning of autumn school I will not get too much time either....

But anytime, as soon as I get the time (heh:P), I'll do a somewhat big rework and probably add a jungling part too.. I'm hoping it won't get too long until I have this time!


Another thing to add is that I'm soo glad this build has helped so many, even more glad than I'm due to the guide being number 2 of the Garen guides. Helping people matters more to me.

Nice build, though I would suggest getting a Infinity Edge much earlier perhaps right after the frozen mallet. ( Reason: Your dmg will just rape arse and Garen have good enough substain, so there's no need to rush warmog. )

Secondly, ADD EFFING PICS YOU SON OF A MOTHER. ALL I SEE IS CHUNKS AND CHUNKS OF WORDS.

Hmm... Change Infinity Edge to BT? Haven't though about it yet. That means you would gain 20 points of AD, when your BT is maxed out (but only when it is), and that is situational. Also, your Judgment will crit less often with BT, which can reduce your damage output somewhat. So, I'd say that you can get BT when it goes well, but if it dosen't, IE will help you more. That's my thoughts. Bloodthirster is, of course, cheaper, though. But all in all I think an IE helps you more than a BT in a casual game. (The lifesteal isn't benefitting Garen that much, he is not that much of an auto-attacker. Not in this build, at least.)

Great build.

I'm new to LoL and still learning how to use Garen, but managed to score a good win in the top lane, as the only tank in the match. (Scored 12-3-17)

The choice of items makes Garen an extremely well rounded character in the end game, able to tank towers and do some serious damage in fights.
